    Imagine a million years into the future, if we are destroyed and our infrastructure remains it will disappear due to erosion or geologic processes . there would be no record of us. how many times could that have happened in the past? how many civilizations could have existed with no trace? just a thought.

    Could the Roman sword have been brought by someone after Rome had fallen?

    • @skwills1629
      @skwills1629 7 років тому +10

      Jorge, I thought the same thing. I won't say id definite, but a lot of Roman Artifacts made their way over in the SPanish exploration, or after, and this could have just been a lost antiquity, not evidence of ROman Discovery.

    Taking a bit of a leap, that it’s a cross, and, not just someone with outstretched arms.

    • @Demothios
      @Demothios 4 роки тому

      That particular cross is a common depiction of Jesus both in Scandinavia, but also to some extent in the early medieval Frankish kingdom. Jesus was "sold" to Norse pagans, as a strong and victorious king, not as a suffering and defeated and punished man. It's the same type of Jesus-depiction that's shown on the later Jelling Stone. The Jesus depiction on the Jelling stone, btw, also does not show Jesus with nails through his hands, rather he is - like in the cross in the clip - bound.

    The roman sword was most probably owned by vikings, they usually used the swords with better steel than theirs from the places they raided.
    EDIT: We already established in this comment thread that the sword isn't steel, but iron. And if it was from vikings, it wasn't obtained through raiding but probably passed down from generations due to differences in the Timeline of the Roman era and Viking era.

    • @sandbakk77
      @sandbakk77 8 років тому +5

      Perhaps, but they would still be using a sword that's 500+ years old. Not too likely. Besides, the vikings went to Newfoundland in Canada. They never set foot on mainland America (as far as anyone knows.).

      the roman sword thing is probably just bunk. Nutjobs always make claims like that, but there is no logical nor logistical nor barely a chemical reason a roman sword would be found at the bottom of a lake...and nothing else.

      Gathsidespoison Thinking like that is what makes mainstream archaeology get stuck with stories, then deny and hide evidence that contradicts them.

      Hey Deimos,
      some in depth info on swords for you and anyone interested. neither the Romans or the Vikings posessed steel swords. bronze swords were used by the Romans initially; the main reason the Romans went to England (which they referred to as the isle of tin) was to obtain tin to add to copper to produce bronze swords, this was in the very early Roman era) they later converted to iron swords. The Vikings used iron swords that were superior to the Roman swords. occassionally and only by accident a rare iron sword was occassionally made stronger with inferior steel in it by a swordsmith accidentally contaminating his iron with carbon. true, purpose-made steel swords containing the optimal amount of carbon for excellent steel were not invented until about 500 years after the end of the Viking age (1066) so no good steel until about 1550 or so. then the steel needed 2 more processes performed or it would be inferior - #1. quenching - rapidly cooling off a red hot blade with something cooler - many things were tried including urine, blood, water, light oil that would immediately burst into flames and the most brutal - stabbing the entire length of a red hot blade through a living person (in the belief that not only would it quench the steel but strengthen it with the soul of the person stabbed). #2. tempering - this is done to obtain differental strength in specific areas of the blade - some areas you want flexible, hardness overall so a thrust can be made, some you don't want brittle or the blade will break, the blade edge needs special treatment to hold an edge, etc... it's a complicated process.
      I was friends with a blacksmith for awhile and met a lot of his friends that made custom blades for a living. I own a false edged (blunt) broadsword (its so long it should be called a bastard sword or hand and a half broadsword) and also own a razor sharp double-edged short sword. I would prefer it in extremely CQB over a pistol. I have spear hunted wild boar and a 400 lb wild boar just drops with rarely a squeal when speared right. my short sword blade is identical to the spearhead.

      really! because that needs to be done. too many people depend on their livelihood or professional status by spreading the grossly inaccurate CW despite huge amounts of evidence proving the CW is diametrically wrong to reality. i personally greatly admire author Graham Hancock and Prof. Robert Schoch and forensic geologist Scott Wolter as shining examples of courageous men willing to risk every thing to get to the truth. allnhave received death threats and personal threats including a psycopathoc woman that was planted for the purpose of ambushing and verbally attacking Prof. Schock at a scientific after party. The Smithsonisn has a vendetta against Mr. Woltors that is so assinine, offensive and virulent that a Cherokee elder, Don Rose, who controls the land where a CW shaking artifact was found wrote several accurate, scathing and disparaging letters to the Smithsonian threatening to rebury the artifact due to their personal unwarranted attacks on the honorable Mr. Woltors. (for full disclosure, I need to note that I am proudly and ferociously Cherokee). Very admiral and courageous warriors for truth, then you have morons like Zawi Hawass that have chosen to deliberately spread lies for national status. He disgusts me. Hawass is ironically in charge of protecting the Giza plateau area which shows how ironic because he was caught red handed illegally selling Egyptian antiquities. Unbelievably, he kept his position!! He still hosts tv shows on Giza. OMG! i would love to know why he is not in prison for 50 yrs, perhaps others were involved in this profiteering that had enough power to stop his prosecution and their involvement coming to light (pay offs and bribery are well entrenched and an expected part of Egyptian society). its amazing what $100 to the right guard or bureaucrat can get you access to.
      This entire protect the CW of history despite blatantly obvious provable evidence to the contrary reminds me of the infallibility of Aristotle. Aristotle was 'the man' as far as the Roman Catholic Church was concerned. any contradiction or even questioning of his ideas, concepts and conclusions were considered contradicting the infallibility of GOD. this, even though many could be disproved by a child using the scientific method, but, considering the penalty was usually death there were few takers. one of Aristotles conclusions was that ice floated because of its shape!
      Another 'genius' conclusion - 'Why does something that is thrown continue to move once it has left the throwing hand? Aristotle came up with an explanation of the air opening up in front of the thrown object and closing behind it continuing to push the object.' yet another, NOT gravity but assinine - 'On the earth, things dropped fell to the earth because they were returning to their natural place.'
      the worst one of hundreds - 'heavy objects fall faster than light ones'. it's spelled
      nincompoop!! infallible for 2000 yrs with no disagreement allowed. where might the human race be without this joker and his all powerful murdering backers? much further ahead for certain!
      same creeps that gave Galileo the choice of recanting what he knew to be true - the earth orbits the sun and other planets, Jupiter in his example had moons that orbited it. the PTB haughtily dismissed him. he offered to let them see for themselves was to be rebuked with 'Not only was he committing a heresy by supporting the Copernican view of the solar system, but he was attempting to prove his point by using an instrument of the Devil, namely the telescope.' Many others, not just Galileo did not pursue dangerous theories or publish new ideas and theories because they did not want to be imprisoned, tortured or murdered.
      At least Galileo escaped the fate of Giordano Bruno, who, in 1600, was burned at the stake for his views, which included the daring suggestion that the Sun was no different from the other stars, only much closer. However, Galileo was banned from publishing any further works, and he spent his remaining 20 years in house arrest summarising his earlier work, particularly in physics and mechanics.
      'Aristotle was so smart IT TOOK THE WORLD CIVILIZATION 2000 YEARS TO RECOVER FROM HIS (BRILLIANT, sorry sarcasm could not be resisted) DISASTROUS PHYSICS IDEAS.
      First we need to get his time frame turned into concrete dates. According to Wikipedia, Aristotle lived from 384 to 322 BCE so following his death 2000 years would bring us to 1678 CE. Now most people who believe in a Scientific Revolution would date its commencement, and thus the overthrow of Aristotle’s stranglehold, somewhat earlier. Conventional wisdom dates its start to 1543 and the publication of Copernicus’ De Revolutionibus and Vesalius’ De fabrica. More recently David Wootton was touting the nova of 1572 as kick off point. Let us agree on a compromise date of 1600 CE so we have a claim that Aristotle SINGLEHANDEDLY PREVENTED THE INVENTION OR DISCOVERY (take you pick according to your personal philosophy of science) of physics from 322 BCE until 1600 CE'. You have to bear in mind that the Roman Catholic Church were his enforcers and all too eagerly murdered anyone that disagreed with the infallible Aristotle!! WHERE IS ASSASSIN'S CREED WHEN YOU REALLY, REALLY NEED THEM??

    i remember back in archeology classes there was a phenomina (forget the name of it) that theorized major discoverys were made during same time periods globally w NO apperant link. metallargy, farming, tool making, ect. different cultures ran w different techs. our professor suggested that "alien forces" were responsable for simultanious "educations". Folks thought he was crazy but he was convinced that "outside entities" gifted man w knowledge.

      Looking at what we do know and what we don't know, it actually makes sense that we've had some intervention from elsewhere. It fits together like a puzzle, if you really look into it. And historically speaking, the ones who turned out to be right were always thought of as crazy.

      Hi humpz, agreed. A lot of cultures have legends of the "sky people". In australia theres lots of ancient stone carvings that depict "unknowns" & among american Zuni/Hopi legends very similar beleifs. From my native friends who speak of the "ancient ones" there seems to be a common thread that "someday" theyll come back & rescue them from this evil planet just before its destroyed. Im pretty sure all legends are based on some universal truth. If ever there was a time that global destruction was not only possible, but probable, its now.

    • @ClandestineMerkaba
      @ClandestineMerkaba 8 років тому

      True, I mean just look at any of the popular historical and cultural mythological traditions- every mythological canon has it's own outside character, it's own "emissary of the Gods" so to speak, who, either on behalf of, or in rebellion towards the Gods, bestowed upon us secrets and knowledge divine. Enki, Prometheus, Apollo, Lucifer, The Serpent, Thoth, Ganesha, The Dogon.. It's pretty much a cultural constant to have some personification of an outward, external force, always described as bestowing knowledge upon humanity. It's pretty much a certainty that we are a creation(by nature) intervened with, genetically, and otherwise.

      I agree. The same goes for the golden cross. Just because it dates back 100 years before the Jelling-stone, doesn't mean it's been on Fyn since then. It could have been given to an important person, like a viking leader, as a token of appreciation, to keep his warriors dossile and worship God, many years after the Danes officially converted to christianity. Personally I think the king of Denmark, Harald bluetooth, converted the vikings to christianity because of political reasons. Christianty was growing so big in southern europe that he was afraid of an invasion.... so he converted, to keep the enemy at bay.

      Golden cross: I see no reason for it to be ransacked from more southern lands. After all it wasn't found in anything that resembled "church" at that time afaik, and even if it did, danes were multi-god culture so they wouldn't worry about someone carrying this golden artifact around (even if they knew its meaning).

    ok the farming thing should have been obvious. it's not exactly a difficult thing to comprehend and thus most cultures came about it on their own. you plant a seed and something grows, once you understand that you can pick up the rest as you go.

    • @GP-yc2it
      @GP-yc2it 8 років тому +3

      Not necessarily. Nomadic people wouldn't be in one place long enough to realize agriculture was possible. They would have to get the concept from running into those that practiced farming.

    • @clericofchaos1
      @clericofchaos1 8 років тому +4

      George Pomar not really, lots of native American tribes figured it out on their own, and they all started out as nomadic.

    • @louisvictor3473
      @louisvictor3473 8 років тому +2

      that is backyard gardening or small time gardening. The basics of agriculture involves much more than just that.

    • @clericofchaos1
      @clericofchaos1 8 років тому

      Louis Victor which as I said they can pick up on their own over time. they learn through trial and error when to plant, what grows best in what area, and when to harvest.

    • @clericofchaos1
      @clericofchaos1 8 років тому +1

      Louis Victor first off the Indians did it, so there is no effective counter argument. second off, there is nothing wrong with farming AND hunting.

    Last week I was exploring the tombs in Egypt and artifacts in Rome. I discovered that ancient Egyptians played YuGiOh for power and glory and the Romans played Pokemon Go. Since the Egyptians had rights to YuGiOh, I hope a representative from the country would sue NAS for taking their rights and give Dueling Network back.
