Now this is how you blaze the vinyl off a hit that rocks from beginning to end. No bullshit her. She put her all into this. You can literally feel the energy she is giving off No half stepping period or fake milli vanilli lip synching Straight up smoking with the kind of lyrics that a man wants to hear.
I miss these videos ...MTV used to be epic and the videos were so much fun. Even on a crap day...Paula would blow your mind...the day was suddenly better. Those moves in that tiny frame...just awesome
This is one of my favorite musci video's of Paula's. She was ahead of her time. If you set her dancing sequences in this video to modern R&B songs it fits perfectly. Love the high quality of this video!
this just proves paula's unique.... nice moves.... undeniable sweet personality... i' ve seen all her videos and im impressed... i really wished she did'nt paused for a while.. maybe if that did'nt happened she's as famous as Janet..... the female version of MJ... she can sing live too.....
Loved this video better than the second version, why was there a second version with a guitar break and why can I no longer hear the tap dancing in this video, to me that makes it all the more better!
Great choreography in itself obviously, but I prefer one that at least matches the music. Better yet, I prefer spontaneous dancing matching the music note by note =)
Can someone please clarify for me why there were 2 versions of this video released? Thank you! (BTW, I absolutely LOVE this song!!! But I think I like the other version of this video better.)
....a year late, but I can tell ya; THIS version originally came out as the 2nd single from "Forever Your Girl" ('Knocked Out' was the 1st single), released Fall '88; it went Top 10 R&B, but BOMBED on the Pop charts, at #88! THEN, 'Cold Hearted' was the 3rd single, with 'Straight Up' placed on the B side....guess which side became the hit first? ; ) Of COURSE, 'Straight' EXPLODES, then 'Forever', becomes the 4th single, and hits #1, THEN, 'Cold Hearted' was re-released (now, with that double-timed rap part done by Paula in the bridge), and THAT hits #1! NOW, after Three #1's in a row, they wanted to keep the momentum going, so, "(It's Just) The Way..." (..originally called 'The Way That You Love Me', but, changed to 'It's Just..' , because Karyn White had a MASSIVE hit song Fall '88 with 'The Way You Love Me'), was RE-RELEASED Fall '89, with the other video (with the close-ups of Paula on the chair, with wet hair), and THAT peaked at #3!! ...aaaaannd, I have VERY close inside info that the reason they just didn't re-release THIS video Fall 89, was....Paula didn't like her hair in the performance shots with the mic, and, Michael Jackson liked and STOLE the Hat / split part for the dance sequence for his video 'Smooth Criminal' Oct. '88! (....look closely at the video's styling at 2:15 ....hmmmm...ha-HAA!!) ...WHEW! since i'm a year late with your answer, I had to give you some BANG!! ...hope this helps! ; )
@@RBS_ Man, you sure helped me out with your reply, thanks! Although I was an admirer of Paula's, my head was so far up Janet Jackson, with her now iconic and classic Rhythm Nation album, I didn't realize that Paula had two videos, nor all the history of her music in the beginning! Thanks again!
@@shawnjones4527 , Shawn, I ALSO was so far 'up' Janet, that I could've left, crossed the street, and went back up AGAIN! ha-HAAA! ..aaaand, a little MORE trivia for ya, since you mentioned Janet; Paula had NO chance of hitting #1 with "It's Just.." because the No. 2 & 1 songs then were, "Sowing The Seeds Of Love" by Tears For Fears" and....."Miss U Much" by JANET! 😲 ....Miss Jackson ALWAYS get her way! ..ha-HAA! Glad to give you this info; I have to tell SOMEONE, before they put me in The Old Folks' Home!
I'm tired of everyone saying Janet got her moves from Paula, because after Paula was on her own and no longer Janet's choreographer, Janet's videos got bigger and better.
I would say this much. In this video I can see some similarities of the two. It looked like Janet is dancing in the video. She incorporates the styles from her choreographers with her style. She always usually makes good videos. She also hires and work with the best choreographers. I however liked her earlier choreographers more like Paula, Tina, and Anthony Thomas
I can still jam fast to this at age 54 like I am still 24!
This woman is out controlllll!!!!! Amazing talent....This type of performer do not exist anymore... God bless Paula Abdul
Dance is really an art form. The choreography got better with time. The my love is for real video shows the progression in choreographing
Paved the way for many, whether some admit it or not...period!

Gotta hand it to Paula. Girl knew how to throw down the moves back in the day. She was sharp and fly......
And the track is smokin too.......
I miss these videos ...MTV used to be epic and the videos were so much fun. Even on a crap day...Paula would blow your mind...the day was suddenly better.
Those moves in that tiny frame...just awesome
"She looks like Janet dancing"... more like Janet looks like Paula dancing, given she was her choreographer...
i wish they would remaster her first two albums :(
One Word: Talent
This is one of my favorite musci video's of Paula's. She was ahead of her time. If you set her dancing sequences in this video to modern R&B songs it fits perfectly. Love the high quality of this video!
This is an overdubbed version. In the real original, you can hear the tap dancing in the breakdown, as seen here: s6ou-tmiQOM
the production on this track is really sick.. reminds me a bit of current glitchy micro house stuff with all the intricate little sounds..
this just proves paula's unique.... nice moves.... undeniable sweet personality... i' ve seen all her videos and im impressed... i really wished she did'nt paused for a while.. maybe if that did'nt happened she's as famous as Janet.....
the female version of MJ... she can sing live too.....
album "Forever Your Girl" salah satu album terbaik sepanjang masa...
David Fincher. Not only is he one of the best Filmmakers of all time, but he's probably the best music video director of all time.
Masterful interpretation 💋🔥👏
Love the sentiment of this song.
Much better version I think
Loved this version.. She danced her ass off. MTV had the tendancy to play the second version. WRONG.
This is the best version.
Great attitude!
Paula rocks!!!!!!💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕
Yep! And that's normal since Abdul was Janet Jackson's choregrapher back in the days....
LOVE this song!
i never knew she had another video to this other than FOREVER YOUR GIRL this is a funky jam 2nd favorite
Damn nice video!!! Thanks sooo much for posting in HQ! I love Paula. Her music, fashion, dancing and videos are just something else!
it let me remeber my Casio CT670 Demo
talented :)

Ditto!! I love the choreography. It was excellent. I wish someone would do a tutorial so I can practice lol…..
Directed by David Fincher
She is astunnished dancer
Great choreography in itself obviously, but I prefer one that at least matches the music. Better yet, I prefer spontaneous dancing matching the music note by note =)

do you know who was her choreographer right?
¿Y YA EN AQUELLOS AÑOS SE UTILIZABAN COMPONENTES CON CD INCORPORADOS Y CD PARA GRABAR CANCIONES?
2:48 to 3:10 this part sucks! glad they changed it
LOOK LIKE JANET JACKSON DANCING
Because Paula choreographed Janet.....
whose name is on the amex card
