- These are my new favorite combo Smoke and CO Alarms, they feature a 10yr battery, photoelectric fire/smoke sensor, electrochemical CO sensor, wireless interconnect with easy pairing (up to 24 units) and a simple but clear multicolor LED light. I unbox these, talk about the features and test their ability to wireless interconnect and how far they can reach in my house. Testing them is easy even when installed on the wall/ceiling since they have a large easy to press button. I compare them to my Kidde combo smoke/CO alarms that have similar features other than no wireless interconnect. X-sense provided these alarms for testing.

Nate do you ever sleep lololo. My favorite video's of yours are the T Mobile gateway ones, but watch a number of your others. Even though I may not comment on those as much, they have been very helpful. Just a side note . When you mentioned these aren't SMART, I may have a solution for you. Two years ago I purchased an Ecolink Zwave plus wireless audio detector. Model FF-zwave5- eco. It's about 3 inches in diameter and its battery is to last approximately 3 years. You attach it an inch or so from your smoke / CO2 detector on the ceiling . Because your new alarms are interconnected, you only need one Ecolink. When your CO2/ smoke detector goes off it hears it and sends , through your smart hub ( I use Hubitat) a notification to your phone that one of the alarms has gone off. Works great! Thanks again for your tireless work with all your video's. Anthony
Great suggestion! That's on my radar and I looked into them in the past but saw how close thet had to be and without interconnected one it didnt make sense but you're right, it makes sense now! Another cool thing is Alexa can actually listen and alert you to alarms! I need to mess with it and if its robust I dont even need to buy something else.
My goodness, you are full of ideas. Awesome, my kids are watching your videos for many things, they are looking to purchase 100 plus acres but haven't decided where yet, they really like your playset castle. ~Tater tot~
Nate, you're going to have to do a follow up report on how long the batteries last. That wifi has to drain the batteries faster.
If you stay subscribed for 10yrs I'll do a follow up! Lol. I know on all brands with 10yr units there's always a few "my unit died in xx months" review so I'm sure there are some early failures (warranty would cover I assume). But yes if I get a failure I will report it with a video on my channel!
I just bought a set of these, but want to mount some on the wall. How do you install the plate with the 3 screws so that the "X-Sense" with the LED behind it is level and upright? This is not in the instructions. Thanks!
Thanks
Are these UL Certified?
Were you able to get an x-sense hardwired unit to wirelessly interconnect with these battery powered units?
I didnt try, they list which ones are compatible with each other on their site/contact them.
@@NaterTater I called and they said wired units are not compatible
why a combined one? Smoke and CO both require a different height.
That's a misconception. CO is lighter than air and rises so ceiling mount is perfectly acceptable.
Do the alarms have different sounds to indicate if they are alerting for smoke or CO?
Yes. 3 beeps 1.5 sec apart for fire, 4 beeps 5.8 sec apart for CO.
@@NaterTater Thanks for the follow-up.
I burn my toast
Which do I get, that will not go off.
Its generally recommend not to put a smoke detector in the kitchen by cooking appliances. But if you are burning toast it is most likely not flaming but rather smoldering so in that case ionization detectors are less sensitive and less likely to go off.
