  • This video discusses the Integrative Preparedness video "The Truth about Canadian Prepper". Our discussion approaches the topic from a different view point and stresses long term survival through small scale manufacture, home manufacture, improvised & expedient manufacture, mobility and infrastructure creation through improvised and expedient construction, salvage, recycling, foraging, and use of available resources. The question boils down to do we help the entire population which wants to survive or do we help only those that financially benefit us.

Taking in today's censorship of everything, I'm glad CP is doing his thing. Any form of prepping is better than none. I watch a multitude of channels, as this provides me with a broader spectrum of knowledge. CP is on my list, as well as this channel. I take what knowledge I can and leave the rest. I do not agree with banning a person for having a different opinion. Possibly, if he were the "American Prepper," he'd have a more inclusive attitude towards free speech. I value all serious prepper channels, including this channel and CP. 👍

Getting everyone on the same page can be difficult. Heck, the audiences are even more divided than the channel hosts. Precious few are in agreement regarding all preparedness topics. Problem is that there are just too many aspects to "preparedness". And each aspect has seemingly limitless perspectives.
The one biggest flaw of the UA-cam Preparedness Channel Community is that it is NOT a community at all. Like-minded channels collaborate on projects together...but you seldom (if ever) see them fundamentally disagree or debate with one another. One might criticize the other. Then there might be a response. But nothing ever gets "settled". No one is allowed to be right because no one is allowed to be wrong. It would be far too detrimental to the channel.
And ultimately who loses? The audience. The people out there trying to prepare.
So what we are left with is a big bag of different philosophies. And viewers pick the conformation bias that best fits them. Right or wrong, for better or worse. And good luck ever changing their minds.
Now me? I have a particular set of skills. Lol. I can usually pick apart just about any prepping video. They are gonna mess up somewhere. Miss-represent something. Contradict themselves. Something. Almost without fail. I usually keep my mouth shut unless it's something utterly irresponsible. Something laughably incorrect or illogical. Then I pipe up in the comment section as politely as possible. Sometimes with gentle comedy or sarcasm. Much like the Jester or Fool could get away with saying a great many things in front of the king without being immediately put to the sword. Or blocked/shadow blocked in this case.
But it's not enough. There needs to be open discussion. Open debate. The preparedness community needs to all get on the same page or ALL of this UA-cam stuff is worthless to the average prepper. Just bad advice...day after day and dollar after dollar.
Now I don't know for sure exactly where CP fits into all this. He has a decade's worth of videos that date far back before his business started. The vast majority of his work then was spot-on. Far more accurate than most other channels. Many of the best aren't even around anymore. If they were, we'd all probably BE on the same page. They would see to it. Hiberion Son and Maine Prepper were good examples.
Can people be led astray in search of fame and fortune? Certainly. Business is business. And UA-cam is UA-cam. Making preparedness an industry first and foremost. We've seen it happen to some. I've even heard preachers preach what the congregation "wanted" to hear just to see the church grow along with the offerings.
Is that CP? No. I don't believe it is. If I did, I would say something. Is he making money? I hope so. He quit his career to focus on his channel. And that's fair enough.
And luckily, not every channel has to cover every single aspect of preparedness. It's OK to specialize. It's OK to leave some things to the experts or other channels. As a master plumber and certified potable water treatment specialist for the last 25 years, I don't expect every channel always get that aspect of prepping perfect every time. I've had plenty of head-scratching moments myself. But they could do some more research before hitting the "upload" button if they really cared about the audience they serve rather than their UA-cam schedules.
At the end of the day, I came onto this scene expecting far too much out of far too many. Preparedness has become the five blind men feeling different parts of the elephant and then trying to describe what an elephant is. The military see it one way, the criminal psychologists see it another. And the medical personnel yet another. Each feeling a different part of the elephant. Presenting solutions to problems they don't fully understand.

I think you have illustrated the biggest problem in the prepping community as well as our society today, which is the absence of the ability to have a two-way conversation and apply the best solution, method, or plan. When I was young, things were not as they are now. Most of what I now know was learned from others. It is always better to learn from others rather than suffer the results of learning it the hard way. Take care and stay safe.

There is no ‘prepping community’. Some channels talk behind the scenes. The toxic ones who make videos about others will eat you alive.

I always had the impression CP tries to convince people they can buy there way out of SHTF. I think that’s the most dangerous thing that can be spread about preparedness. I think it was PJF that said once, when you open up your survival stash the time clock till you starve starts up. Not sure what you think about PJF but he scares me honestly.

    • @dodsonarmsco
      @dodsonarmsco  2 місяці тому +4

I agree that CP encourages people to attempt to buy their way out of SHTF rather than learning skills and producing life supporting resources. I would not want to be around PJF during SHTF due to things he has said about "outsiders". I also believe people greatly underestimate the unintended consequences of killing others during the constant contacts with outsiders during SHTF, you will not know the attitude or capabilities of the group from which the "victim" is a member of. It was common throughout history that killings of individuals resulted in wars of attrition against communities by groups containing relatives of the dead. Take care and stay safe.

I quit watching most "prepper" channels as they are just infomercials disguised as information. I find myself watching Moroccan guys building machines out of appliances or Vietnamese girls building farms more than a lot of American channels. Modern American way is to buy something to solve the problem (or to feel better about it). I've never had money, but I have tools and an imagination lol

There was a video that Canadian prepper did last night that really set me off with his guy and he's talking about I wrote my second book as a give back to the people that aren't as well off as my high-end big money customers and I was so put off by that and the guy said it in the first 30 seconds and man that video I'm a southern boy sir.... this is the first video of yours I saw but you need to go see that video that this man put up yesterday about 11:30 it's dangerous for people all the advice this man gave and he's supposed to be former military and Logistics and a grid down specialist all the advice that this man kept giving...... had to do with more people being in your system more cars in your system needing more power than even we use on a normal daily basis in your system it was so reliant on money on grid down on devices on thermal cameras and people to run them..... I mean just the amount of food in that situation I mean with what he was saying he's talking about we're all surrounded by 10 people we all have a platoon of 10 or 12 people or a family and that's just not right that's dangerous. A lot of us are on our own we don't have that big bag I have fed myself for $11.25 over the past 5 days. So you got to go look at it you have to I trust you after 45 seconds! I mean this guy is going to get people killed. He's going to get people rolled over as soon as something bad happens I mean he's got you sharing your business with everybody he's just talking about spending spending spending spending you got to get this you got to get that and I almost everything he was saying unless you have about $3,000 Watts that are going to regenerate every day like clockwork from the Sun there is no darn way. And this man let that jackass run his mouth for about 48 minutes. It was unbelievable he's sitting there ragging on rednecks and Southern Boys and it's like look this guy he's from a city he's coddled he's just talking about that money he loves that money he's getting paid and he's going to get people lost he's going to get people hurt and I said the Canadian prepper a message for the first time I'm like look man you got to get rid of this video dude you cannot have this up this is a bunch of nonsense he's sitting there hating on people living on the side of a mountain acting like every mountain is over 8,450 ft... and the logistics that can come with farming and agriculture you have to do he's talking about buying ranches that are a thousand acres. What is that douchebag doing what what is he doing talking to people like us that that is that is half a percent of half a percent..... I figured maybe there's somebody that can say something I mean I really really really really really was rubbed wrong with what I listen to last night. I've already had my reservations about our Canadian brother but he's got a business just like hey I don't want my name to be what you're reading right here but I love selling Mickey Mantle cards so that's why this name is here so I can get it but very very very very very dangerous
Yes at 2 minutes and 18 seconds that's exactly what I was trying to say I sent that long message to you sir before I had even gotten to that point of your presentation sir but that's exactly what I experienced last night and I've never experienced it like that but I've also never been as broke well that's not true in December I was I've never been as broke as I am right now. Under those circumstances I am going to be very sensitive towards it but last night that was a Brazen spit in the face

They are a waste of time. They are using up your time to basically sell product that people do not need. The old book "bad times primer" would be your best investment if you can locate a used copy(it has been out of print) it discusses how to improve you situation via hard work rather that buying stuff. The book encyclopedia of survival vol 1 by CMIC group is another how to book.

IP is a SELF-PUBLISHED book writer .. do you know what that means? He pays to make the books himself and sells them on Amazon. As an actual peer-reviewed scientist author myself.. this is a bit misleading.
How about these channels stop going after bigger more successful channels. Biggest example of projection.
Nate is a nice guy and never puts down another channel- he has taken time to give me advice by email and I am a small channel. Remember he was only a big channel recently. He’s been at this UA-cam thing longer than any of us. He made all those videos already.. go look at his older videos.
How do you guys have time to care so much about other channels? More time prepping less time gossiping. Picking others apart does no one any good. No one is an expert at everything .. just let them be.
Everyone has a right to ban someone who leaves abusive comments. Remember he has a team now… to think it is him is a bit short-sighted.

Obviously, you have not seen CP's comments he has left on other channels. You seem heavily invested in protecting those mentioned rather than responding to what was said in my video. It is interesting that you took the time to respond and do exactly what you tell others not to do rather than following your own advice.
