@@explorermike19 Feels nice paddling with a paddle you created yourself isn't it? I used mine as well when circumnavigating Vancouver Island for the speed record. Wouldn't want any other style of paddle.
@@JoeOsChannel It sure does feel good to use a paddle that you make. Of course, you can make it to your own desires. I like mine LONG and with a thicker shaft because I have big hands. I also think the feeling of self sufficiency is calming.
Hey Mike, I just found your channel...What a blast! I absolutely love sea kayaking the Great Lakes...especially Lake Superior. Love your boat and paddles. Did you make it yourself? Love it when the waves crest as you are at the top and the bow "booms" on the down side of the wave...Good stuff. I just subscribed Mike (Us sea kayakers have to support each other LOL). I have more of a hiking related channel, but there are a few short videos of my last trip to the Lake Superior Prov. Park near WaWa Ontario. Take care Mike and keep paddling! Kamper 2020
Looks like a lot of fun. Do you need any type of license or permit to kayak on Lake Michigan? I’ve always wanted to buy a kayak and spend some time on the water.
Pete, you do not need a license to kayak on the Great Lakes, but you do need good equipment, knowledge, and skill. The Great lakes can quickly have dangerous waves and weather conditions.
@@explorermike19 thank you for the reply. I definitely have respecto for nature and I understand how dangerous Lake Michigan could be. This would be a hobby I’d definitely ease into carefully.
@@peteross4879 Yes, certainly do get into kayaking. It is thrilling and enjoyable on many levels. Of course, talk to someone who can help you get into kayaking with knowledge. The people who do it love it and are passionate about it. I bet you would be one of those people too.
I don't think I took on too much water. Of course, we are wearing skirts over our combing. I don't get too much water in the bulkheads or cockpit unless I do rolls, then I my boat seems to take on a lot of water.
Looks fun 👍stay safe
Looks just like the ocean
You have some good content on your channel, especially good to see some Greenland paddles in use. Just subscribed.
Thanks, Joe. I make my own Greenland paddles including the paddle you see in this video.

@@explorermike19 One of the great things about Greenland paddles is that they can be individually customized for the user.
