Let’s Go! Thank you for this review and I appreciate the amount of hard work you put into this video! To everyone else watching, the model shown in this video was an early prototype. A lot of the issues have been addressed. The Xenas Gun continues to get better as we reach release date of September 2024.
Always glad to see another upload! Usually peer in, but these kind of constructive analyses are always interesting. Wanted to just chime in and voice support!
It's been super cool to see all of the projects in recent years and Ugo's has been an interesting one to watch for sure. I'm excited to see how this continues to develop.
Very nice to see this reviewed. A few weeks ago UA-cam recommended me the Xenas gun channel and I was curious for a review. Kudos to Ugo for building his own light gun and writing it's own software program. For sure a brilliant mind.
@@Boojakascha I got a contact email from the company today. I think I'm planning to participate in the booth at COEX in Korea. I think I'll be the first to demonstrate.
I would say the XGun (episode 252, ua-cam.com/video/LuYMYylvcI0/v-deo.html ) But I feel we should wait until the end of the year to see the Nextick Lightgun. I have high hopes for that one =)
@@Boojakascha Thanks. By the way, by commercially available, I just mean something I don't have to tinker with. I'm perfectly fine with tracking down old hardware if there's any that's superior. Also, will the XGun or Nextick emulate the mouse, either of the thumb sticks, or the d-pad? Finding one solution for all of them would be ideal.
@@malvineous I would pick the XGun still, because it lets you set up dead zones. No, I don't think that either gun does all of this. The Steam controller gives you the the most control of where to map the gyro to. Sadly that one is difficult to convert to a gun, as it requires rotating a sensor.
@@malvineous Yes, the XGun indeed let's you do that. You can map the gyroscope to either the right or left Joystick =) Just the D-Pad won't work via gyro I think. Another idea is using an AR Gun like in my overview (ep 194: ua-cam.com/video/Nyq331e_nYE/v-deo.html ) and strapping the Steam controller to it instead of a phone.

Not to forget your own lovely hardware platform! =)
Guys, check out the OddCon if you are ever looking into 3D printing!
Thanks man 😂
I just wrapped the new model last night, if the final test print checks out I'll have the files posted this evening.
awesome!!!
Thanks Odwalla
@@xenasgun Hey man! Stoked to see your project getting some love. Keep it going!
Hi Ben, I appreciate the thorough reviews. Thank you.
I am glad that you enjoyed them :D

Hello, Thank you for your kind review details. I'm looking forward to the next video Nextick Light Gun review video.
Thank you for your support! =)
Me too! I ordered it a while ago. Right now the project is delayed, from what I can grasp of Indiegogo messages.
@@Boojakascha I got a contact email from the company today. I think I'm planning to participate in the booth at COEX in Korea. I think I'll be the first to demonstrate.
that's awesome! I am very happy for you =)
@@Boojakascha I visited the booth today. However, the Nextick Light Gun was not there, but the next generation Nextick Joystick 3D Mouse 2 was there.
Nextick 2 is expected to be released on Indiegogo next year. It will likely have the same performance as the Nextick Light Gun.
I'd assume the final item will be a bit better than this.
Yes, it's my understanding that Ugo already addressed a few of the issues =)
Do you keep all your lightguns or you resell them after making a video? 🤔
I keep the vast majority as a reference. Else I couldn't compare newer to older ones. Memory is not as faithful as reality :D
In your opinion, what is the best (commercially available) gyro gun for PC?
I would say the XGun (episode 252, ua-cam.com/video/LuYMYylvcI0/v-deo.html )

@@Boojakascha So would I need to find a different gun to emulate the right thumb stick? Do you know of any that can do that?

Nice review and good luck with future development. As said, one he'll of a job doing this on a one man army ❤ @xenasgun
