Fortunately, future generations will never know the struggle of not being able to use the phone because someone else was using the computer, thanks to dial up Internet connections, well before broadband and mobile phones.

or the struggle of looking up phone numbers in the yellow pages or renting new or old music movies/tv shows and video games kids today don't know how easy they have it with streaming companys
It wasn't a struggle. Because back then kids actually played outside more than online, and that was more of mid 2000's things when we became teenagers. You have our dates off. Sincerely a true 90's kid who does not grant you the rank of Master.

I so miss being a 90s kids and going outside to play games and not spending all day behind a computer screen like kids today also 90s cartoons were epic.
That is probably why we were never obese despite all the bizarre snack foods we indulged in.

90’s Nickelodeon shows, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, PlayStation, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, hip hop’s golden age, street fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat, Sonic the hedgehog and Super Mario World, who could forget those.

I remember going to blockbusters and being able to rent a VHS of what you want to on Friday or getting a game if you have the console for it

What I miss the most about growing up in the 90s is actually going outside and playing with other kids not glued to an electronical device.

That's what I was thinking. I was born in 80 and graduated HS in 99. This was all more prevalent during middle school and high school for me.
I was born in 86, and I remember alot of these things.
I was born in 82 childhood and teens in one decade!! The last good decade and we are the only who appreciate simple times and read too.

The 90s had great cartoons, mum and dad loved Ren and Stimpy, Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken etc.
Let's not forget X-Men, Batman, Spiderman, the first three seasons of South Park, Biker Mice From Mars, Super Mario Bros 3 (and I guess Super Mario World), Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (even though that's not a cartoon), Superman, and too many more to list.

The overtime my father got for working Y2K was the equivalent to two months wages, he was on call the whole night and nothing happened.

Poor guy, at least he received a generous pay raise, though.
When I first heard about Y2k I thought it was a joke no one would fall for. Then everyone panicked. Same thing happened with covid. Many are still afraid of a head cold.
Easiest job ever (For the night).
Neon colored clothing, weird foods, MTV actually playing music videos, renting movies at the video store, actually hanging out with your friends _in person_ to play video games, calling your friends after school on the landline to talk about what happened that day, riding your bike to go to the arcade... The ninetes were a great decade to be a kid.
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!! 84 here and ALL of the 90s were so magical!! Everything from the music, movies, tv shows, cartoons, food and drinks and toys were all the best!!!!!

I was a 90s kid. Pokemon was all the rage. VHS beat out Betamax. All your base are belong to us. Multicolored things are amazing.

Born in 1991, I Can Say that I Experienced: Y2K, Macarena, Pop Fever ( NSYNC, BackStreet Boy, Britney, Cristina Aguilera), Jurassic Park, Dial Up Internet, Eminem, Bizarre Food, Cd Players, A lot of Vide Arcade ( in my Country was a Fever in the 90's).
as a 90s kid, i can say that it is the best year to be and to grow up

Was born in 1989 and got to enjoy the 90s. One thing the 90s had that was awesome were those retro computer games that were goat like Bugdom and Zoombinis though the later got a remake.

I'm so overloaded on nostalgia, it was so wild growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s! I was one of those kids who was always on the web like in #1 on the list- before UA-cam came out I was showing people the world of online humor on places like stupidvideos- even music videos for songs that didn't have any on MTV were made by people (usually slideshows) were put on there allowing my music addiction to boom and grow as UA-cam came into the picture. This age of tech changing rapidly makes each generation's experience that much more unique than the last. Love watching it!

You didn't have to"hold the button" down to rewind the tape. One simple press was all that was required. You just had to wait for it to finish
I grew up during the emo rock wave. After MCR, there hasn’t really been another ground breaking rock wave since. Rock is still popular, but I miss the days when rock songs were on the weekly top 40.
I have to admit that as someone who grew up knowing part of this age of unhealthy foods, I’m glad that our knowledge of it has come a long way. Even as an adult, I may be tempted to try these types of foods from time to time, ha ha!
But were the 90s the best? Kindof hard to say for me since I was born in 1994 and I was stuck with my parents the whole time. But hey, I can appreciate living in a world where tech wasn’t as high back then.

I was born in 94 as well but I don't remember Y2K. Honestly I think I heard about it 1st from Family Guy 😅.
I really appreciate the 90's for a the wacky stuff that was all around us, even if it was bad it was "cool" back then.

I was born in 1994 but I do remember the Y2K panic because adults were telling me that my PlayStation 1 would stop working. Some of the craziest of suggestions were that it would grow legs and kill me 😂😂

Personally I feel a decade is more nostalgic and meaningful when you can remember the entire decade from the beginning to the end it. Just being born in a decade doesn’t mean much when all you can remember from it are snippets.

To be a "90's Kid", you have to be born in the 80's. Or 1990 or 1991 at the latest.
That’s why really in order to be a 90s kid you need to be born in the 80s. Those who were born in the 90s usually don’t remember much about the decade.
I was born in 1980, but I can remember majority of the 80s.
I was born in early 1989 and had a neighbor who worked for Betty Crocker. He gave my mother dunkaroos before they were released to the public to see if it was toddler friendly. The first cd I bought myself was the Tonight, Tonight single. I fell in love with computers and went to my first code camp in 99. I am a senior software engineer now. My COBOL expert colleagues demonstrated what they were worried about when I asked about Y2K. This is my favorite WatchMojo video, and I've seen most of them! Thank you for the wonderful nostalgia.
i'm so jealous i also loved computers and had one growing up my dad was into building them but no one thought to say hey you could get a job doing this in some way even though i was having fun learning html and now coding seems so foreign but my younger self would have picked it up so quick.
My cousin was born in 2009 and I was born in 1994. One day I played the dial up internet sound on my phone she cringed and questioned what that was. I told her this is how Internet worked back when I was her age.

I was born in 1990, so the 90s were basically my early childhood, and yeah I admit it was a much simpler time back then
I wouldn't call the decade we're in now dull and lifeless, but definitely overwhelmed with problems most notably covid and inflation, combined with the usual problems of crime, drug use, and natural disasters.

The 90's was the best decade of all time. It was things we were able to do, and get away with where modern teens could never understand, on the other hand, a lot of modern teens wished they were alive during that decade.
I was a toddler during Y2K, so I have foggy recollections of the millennium bug, and how most people genuinely thought that the world might end. My uncle even had his basement converted into a bunker in case anything went awry.
Capri sun was an 80s product in the US. I started drinking them in like 1982 or 83. They also used to be a little bit bigger, just like every other product. Size went down, price went up!
My mom got me Ssips drink boxes.

If a kid was born in 1990, I don't think they could appreciate all this, they were 10 at the end. I was born in '85, so I think this would be more for the 80's kids.

Each decade has its own special and unique things. I was born in 1992. I had used a computer with dial up Internet at first, though it was in 2005 and 2006. I am the last generation of using the VHS in my childhood. I have been in knowing about the Internet my whole life.

90's Kids? A "90's Kids" list would be "watching Fox Kids" or "playing with Tiger handheld games". Much of the stuff on this list is more like what EVERYONE in the 90's experienced.
The 90s were from ages 3 to 13(born late 1986) It was a formative time in my life. Also I miss dunkaroos
I was born in late '86 as well. The 90s was probably the best time to experience as children. We were young and naive, we didn't know any better, but man did we have fun. Probably the next best decade for quality TV shows and video games since the 80s.
They brought them back, and omg what a horrible disappointment. So not the same.
another huge one is gaming without any need for internet or DLC....worst we had to worry about beyond the obvious consoles & games was having to buy the occasional extra or replacement memory card or upgrading the N64 with the Expansion Pak
I honestly miss those days some times lol I mean I hardly game online anyway but yeah, it was nice back then because developers would really try to make the game's more dynamic (with the resources available of course) instead of having that mindset where they think can simply just pump out DLC to finish the game.

I remember just how scary Y2K was. My Mom went and pulled all her money out of the bank. Because the news had mentioned that bank accounts would likely be wiped out and you would lose all your money. So she yelled at my siblings and myself to go and remove all our money from the bank. Then New Years Day 2000 I woke up Hungover and jumped on the Laptop. Just to check the date on the screen. And NO SURPRISE the date read correctly. I was a little nervous about things going crazy. But I also knew we were in the age of internet. And it wasn't going to be a life altering event.
I was born in 1995. I must have some good memories in the 90’s.
David Bowie having the final thought at the end there. Thats from an Interview he did in 1999 before youtube, social media, and before the Internet really took off the way it has. Mr. Bowie was Right On The Money. He was an absolute Visionary, he knew well in advance the everyday aspects of life the internet would enhance and employ.

I have fond memories of being a little kid in the 90's since I was born in 1993.
I walked around my cul de sac neighborhood with a CD player in hand, a cassette tape inside of the CD player, going up to my friends and neighbors loudly playing the Macarena as well as Colors of the Wind by Vanessa Williams. I was so obsessed! XD

Dial up was such a pain in the ass. I remember when Napster came out my brother and I went to download backdoor by 112. It took every bit of 21 hours.

Born during the last year of the 1970's. Grew up in the 1980's and 1990's! Best two decades ever! I was so thrilled when my Dad brought home our first computer and printer! It meant that I would never have to handwrite another research paper or essay for school again! Also, we were able to get AOL, an e-mail service! It came in handy after my bestie and her family moved to Wisconsin! We both set up email addresses with the permission of our parents so we could communicate back and forth! I LOVED it! It was even better than being able to "fax" my younger cousin on her farm down in the Kasson/Mantorville, MN area!
We had this cool VHS rewinder that looked like a sports car. You pop the hood, put the tape in, close it, and the headlig.hts would light up, and it would rewind twice as fast as a normal VCR.
I got a hit clip at McDonald’s when I was a kid! I had the Britney Spears and Dream ones. Thanks for including them on the list!
