Yea great video buuuuuuutttt, i think my puzzle broke, but not physically, like the peices are in the wrong places
My mom gets me a new puzzle like this for Christmas every year. I usually have them solved within minutes, but this year I got this puzzle and I gotta say, it is by far the most difficult I've ever done.
It took me a total of 11 hours to solve. Let me tell you, when I got that first piece off, the amount of satisfaction and joy I felt was incredible..
I had to find a video showing how to solve it just to see if I did it right. I'm only watching the first half of this video as I now have to figure out how to put it back together.
But I am going to wait till tomorrow to try. I don't want to just put it back together from memory. I want to figure it out on my own.

Yes! My husband bought one about 6 years ago. We both tried for MONTHS to figure it out, but since then it's been sitting in a drawer. Now I can FINALLY solve it!

that's the beauty of human minds among other animals.
According to the note that came in the box with mine, it was discovered in the US back in 1974. They thought it to be impossible, but eventually they took the design, made it larger, and sold it as the cast piece you see in the video.
Or that is all just marketing wank. Who knows?
My father-in-law Eldon Vaughn invented this puzzle. I am actually putting away a bunch of his Enigma’s right now. :-) His originals and a later version that is a resin plastic that is beautifully colored. He was a genius and a wonderful man. I appreciate you all for keeping his memory and legacy alive!

Thanks! Nice exposition. There are two orientations. This starts with one piece flipped from the other orientation. I was stuck for a day or two until I found your solution. Worked like a charm! And for those here who are stuck because a piece is flipped, just look for the solution from Mr. Puzzle for the other orientation.

I failed completely, and after months, looked up the solution in another video, which claimed it required force! I thought the puzzle had cheated me, but then I found this video, and you explained it so well, and it required no force... I feel a bit embarrassed how badly I did, but thanks so much for posting this. I'm glad I looked it up again.
My dad has been working on this puzzle for DAYS. I sat down and got it apart and I was glad to find this video to put it back together for my dad. c:

Just needed a hint, thanks! The spacing on mine was messed up evidently and the very first move you showed in the video, was not possible without excessive force so I just assumed it was not the correct way. Now that I know, I spread the gap a little and can continue my efforts with no more hint hopefully!

I want to congratulate you for solving the Enigma puzzle. I've been grappling with it for a few weeks and it's quite a challenge. NOT gonn watch the solution video, though, unless/until I solve it!

Very good explanation, because all rotations are explained always relative to the center piece "base". This keeps it clear.

I forced it a bit and managed to glitch it in an illegal configuration. That made taking it back apart even more challenging - I took inspiration from this video to eventually sort it out :😂
I am here to NOT watch the solution. I own the Delta (level 3?), and solved it easily within ten minutes of starting. The Enigma is the second of this puzzle series that I’ve obtained, and I’ve had it for several weeks and still have not solved it.
I’m going to give myself a little more time before I give up and resort to watching this solution; but I’m glad to see that it’s here in case I need it. Thanks.
P.S. Get the Delta. It may be easy, but it is SO MUCH FUN to take apart and put back together!

I don't know where I went wrong. I was following the steps but I somehow ended up with pieces backwards and I can neither finish putting it back together nor take it back apart. I am beyond stuck...

I did that too. I watched the video for inspiration on moves I haven't tried, and finally managed to get it apart and back together the right way 😅
I got the puzzle apart say myself, but I can't for the life of me get it back together.

Mine will NOT make the move you are doing at about the 1:15 mark. is it possible I have a bent or defective piece?
This took me at least 12 hours to take apart (Total) and I managed to put it together. But with every piece in the incorrect orientation, apparently I had done it the way which "Puzzle Guy" did. So I finally decided to watch the video, but I don't plan on messing with this puzzle again, if I'm honest it seems a bit too obvious as what to do and it's rather repetitive with that one piece which you slide the Hanayama piece and the long curved loop piece. Yes it took almost half a day total, but it didn't take long to see what I had to do.
I also don't like the idea that it can be put together in the incorrect position.

Yeah mine does not do that. The last move to get it apart I can't get mine to do that last pass before you line up the slot with the solid piece. The one I have just doesn't have enough clearance. It gets bound up and no amount of wiggling and moving will allow it to by pass freely. I was starting to get really pissed because I already had the Hanayama piece off but those two just couldn't/wouldn't come apart. I'm just happy to know that I had it right but the puzzle itself was causing the interference.
Yeah, sounds like it might be that. The puzzle needs to be exactly right as the pieces don't have much wiggle room
My messing around with it has somehow gotten the pieces backwards 😳🙄 still trying to solve it and I’ve owned it for 2 years lol.
If you got stuck with the second solution, which has opposite orientation, just watch the video using a mirror. You are welcome ;)

Man I love this puzzle but my one issue is that some of the moves don’t feel promising unless the angle is PERFECT so it’s like you tend to not try certain things
It is a fun one once you figure out the angle and I see where you are coming from.
Is this video mirrored? My puzzle is completely opposite from yours?
I filmed it just as it is. It's not mirrored. Perhaps they are making different versions of the puzzle. I don't know.
My puzzle is messed up and I don't know how to get it back to the starting position
You can watch the video and see a point when it looks like what yours looks like. You can try that.
I appreciate the tutorial but the one thing that would've made this much easier to follow was less twisting and jiggling of the pieces unnecessarily.

I can't even reach the starting position, my lock is locked forever

I've managed to get my middle piece on backwards when I was putting things back together and now I can't seem to get the pieces back apart. Is there any advice you can give or any demonstrations out there to help fix this so I can reset my puzzle properly?

I found this puzzle required two different moves that needed a bit of force, pressure or flexing.
Not at all. He was too rough with the puzzle at those parts, but the puzzle does not require brute force.
I thought they were supposed to all pull apart :p

Yes, this puzzle is definitely tough and can get tangled up. There are a couple of other puzzles that are better for getting started that you can't really tangle up beyond recognition. I recommend cylinder (amzn.to/2HpN19D) and Padlock (amzn.to/2HXxomG) Both are challenging, but don't get tangled up too much.

I think your initial position is actually wrong, making the puzzle rather easy(definitely not a level6).
