Great song and think she wrote it with Glen Burtnick who played with Styx and has been playing music forever. I saw Glen in the traveling company of "Beatlemania" back in 1979. He played Paul. Marshall Crenshaw played John.
Crazy thing is Eddie Van Hallen and her were friends and he actually asked her to take Dave's place in the band when Dave left. She was very pregnant at the time and Scandal was doing well so she turned him down. They kept it a secret for a long time as to not make Sammy feel he was their 2nd choice.
Easily one of the best uptempo break up songs ever! Always fun to on my keyboards. Then, "The Warrior" came and Patty Smythe jumped to the big leagues with Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Ann and Nancy Wilson as a massive female Rock goddess!!

@@BerlinFan82 I went and watched the video, and I was going to tell you that your memory is mistaken because JBJ is not in the video, but then found a "2nd alternative" video and sure enough he is in that one on rhythm guitar. Hey guys! I’m so glad you’re checking out more from Patty Smyth. She’s an amazing vocalist and a very cool person if you get the chance to meet her. One of the most perfect 80's songs. Here's the thing about us gen Xer's, this song was the encapsulation of our dating lives, it comes and goes. Patty was spunky and this song was fun to boot.

“Love’s Got A Line On You” was the follow up single I believe. Another 80s power pop gem. There’s an early demo of the video for that song where Jon Bon Jovi is playing guitar.
I went to an Alice Cooper concert back in the day and Scandal was the opening act. We got there late and Scandal was in the middle of their set. I was kinda aware of them but hadn't heard any of their songs. The band was so tight and her vocals were so powerful and pure. Their last song was Goodbye To You. In the early eighties, there was a flood of really good new wave bands fronted by women coming out….Scandal, which was very poppy…The Motels, that did more emotional ballads…Missing Persons, that were very up-tempo but out there with their style and with thought-provoking lyrics, almost bordering on punk…..and Quarterflash, who were very rockin’! I’m going to recommend “Find Another Fool To Love You” by Quarterflash….and do the live version they performed on “Fridays” in 1982….(it was a short-lived LA version of Saturday Night Live)….they absolutely kicked butt….I’m sure you’ll be impressed…use it next Friday!
If I’m not mistaken, Patty changed the spelling of her last name. She did so to avoid being mistaken for punk icon Patti Smith. And even though she changed the spelling to Smyth, she pronounces it as if it had a long “I.” She’s also married to tennis legend, John McEnroe.

I suggest She Sheila by the band The Producers for another great tune from this same early 80s era!😊
How cool is Patty Smyth, beautiful, talented, and then marries John McEnroe to boot. Always loved this song
If I’m not mistaken, Patty changed the spelling of her last name. She did so to avoid being mistaken for punk icon Patti Smith. And even though she changed the spelling to Smyth, she pronounces it as if it had a long “I.” She’s also married to tennis legend, John McEnroe.
Patty Smyth was 25 when this song came out in 1982...she looks so young doesn't she?
She looked young because she was actually 26 when this video came out in 1982.
@@joetoth2564 Thanks for bringing to my attention. I goofed on the typo. Actually, she was 25. We were both born in 1957
@mav2knight The single was released in the fall of 82 so she may have turned 26 at that point
@@joetoth2564 Thanks for your response. She turned 25 on June 26 , 1982. I turned 25 in March of 1982. Have a great night !!!!

YES! LOVE THIS SONG. Top 10 of the 80's for me.
Patty is #5 on my all time top 10 female vocalist.. she has an amazing pitch and range.
Note this song was from there debut album it became a instant hit.
Last night I stumbled upon the song "Hi Ren" by Ren, I haven't been blown away by a piece of musical art like this in quite a while. Since first seeing it I've watched dozens of reactions to it, I first saw it at around 11 pm and didn't stop till 3:30 am, I'm sure it will blow you away as well. It is only been out 5 months and it already has 13M views. The song is on the topic of mental health.
I second that!
I absolutely love Patty Smyth. She's my favorite female singer. Such a strong voice.
If this song doesn't get you up dancing nothing can help you so contagious 80s was clearly the best
She was gorgeous back in the day!!!!
This album is the first cassette I bought when I got my first boom box as a gift.
I love this song, but I seriously had a school dance flashback. We really thought we were it with those moves in the 80s!
