Come on now, a bit of metal on the drain plug would IMMEDIETLY contaminate the new oil? Unless you flushed that engine out completely, that new oil is going to be "contaminated" the second it enters the motor.
PLEASE double check the torque req's for the oil pan drain plug!!! Video says 125 ft-lbs and this is way too high. And it's much higher than what my shop manual recommends. Please check the torque value with a second source before going with the number provided in the video!!
I just want to say thank you three years out. I went cranking down on the plug at 125 and my only savings grace was it kept slipping off. Came back and saw this comment, had I not seen it I could've been screwed
Yikes 125 ft lbs on drain plug … I hope this advice didn’t ruin some young kids day. It’s supposed to be 25 ft lbs
Help
I pulled the hood down instead of up
Oil drain plug torque is 25 lb-ft.
Wonder how many people stripped out their oil pans torquing that bolt down to 125 ft lbs lmao.
AS OTHERS HAVE COMMENTED… TORQUE VALUE IS NOT 125 FT-LBS.
IT IS 25 FT-LBS.
YOU NEED TO FIX THIS GLARING ERROR
“ Appropriate sized wrench “ bro just tell us the damn size you used
Oil drain plug is a 16mm
@@neonafterglow4451 my man, I appreciate that info
@Clavcord I recently just got an 03 dodge dakota myself not to long ago, I'm trying to learn as much info myself, it's no problem.
So stock it came with a 16mm, I learned mine was replaced with 13mm since I've done the oil change
This is literally the only reason I watched this video and noticed the same thing.

Thx for tip

What is the proper torque? Watching this video makes me NOT want to ever purchase a Haynes manual, at least not for this vehicle.
I thought the very same thing, you'd strip the threads.
THATS WHAT I WAS SAYING. Not even the lugnuts are that tight
I presume it's 125 INCH pounds

I haven't 2000 dodge dakota and you can not get to the oil filter like this. There is no space to turn a filter wrench like in the video.
He didnt let it finish draining
Jeez that oil looks as thin as water
It's corona
its california
Its newer oil if you’re concerned use 10w-30
125 ft lb of torque!!!! You guys must be selling replacement oil pans or something 🤔 that's WAY TOO MUCH
I never liked Haynes,the bloody English.....hell brittania......
