Steve Berry I have not been as impressed with a vocalist in decades. Outstanding. I hope the band stays solid and can hang the tough road until they make their major break. Going to see them live June 6.
Steve Berry ....this band should be much bigger than they are...shows me how far music and young peoples perception of it has fallen from the Rock and Roll tree !
+Steve Berry I believe you are right. I wasn't sure how to say it, knowing they were here for something that was in line with the universe but yes, I believe you've encapsulated the thought. Thanks
+Anthonio Degravio: Me too, great to hear a newer blues based band that really Rocks, hope they are starting a new trend to bring back this kind off music, instead of all this crap that they are calling Rock these days which is actually not real Rock but Pop, Funk or just plain shit!!!
Best live band out there today no argument.Jay needs to look after that voice as they do gig so much,i remember seeing them in 2011 in the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton and it was simply a game changer,my mate was speechless all the way home they were that good.
Great band ! They are Humble pie fans , that says a lot Sounds very close to Humble pie. Support these guys buy their albums and yes go see them in concert. 1970s revisited ! Great ! nice to see a real rock band again.
SEEN THEM 3x,, once in Pontiac Crofoot ballroom. maybe 300 people, Grogg shop Cleveland maybe 225 people, and The Palace of auburn hills warming up for SABBATH on their farewell tour, EVERYTIME MIND BLOWN!!!
Fu**ing Righteous Indeed. Huge Humble Pie fan, This is absolutely Stellar. Excellent Homage to one of the Greatest Rock n Roll forces of all time. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song is originally written by Tina Turner and Ike in July 1972. After this in year 1973 Humble Pie performs different version of this song. In my opinion it sounds better and is very similiar as this version from Rival Sons.
I've been critical of the Son's attempting to ape Marriott's version in the past and have got much abuse because of it. I will say one thing that does really matter though. Modern production techniques apply much -in-your-face compression and this tends to make tracks sound bigger and more powerful because of it. In Humble Pie's day, production techniques involved a lot of dynamics and fairly light compression. This does make a difference to those who were not brought up on classic rock. For me the only the version that matters is Steve's but then again I'm biased...but I've yet to hear a better version (in my Humble opinion). On a live stage, how many singers can still be heard when not using a mic? Steve could, I know, I was there. Thanks for reading.
No doubt this is a very good cover but for me, being a Humble Pie fan, they really should've gone for their own version rather than a slavish copy of the original. There will only ever be one Marriott and attempting to copy him has been the downfall of many a singer in the past. The singer for the RS needs to develop his own style and become known for that rather than a bloke who tries to sing like Steve Marriott. Just my Humble opinion!
Tony, check out Jays solo cover of Wild Horses it is posted.I think its safe to say he is his own man.Dont get me wrong I'm a massive Marriott fan but Jay is up there in his own right.
+Tony Miles I guess this is the first time you have ever listened to Jay, right? "The singer for the RS needs to develop his own style and become known for that rather than a bloke who tries to sing like Steve Marriott." This is just laughable. Actually this is the first time I have heard Jay sing like other singer, he usually makes his own version of the song when he covers (which he rarely does covers) Listen to the other Rival Sons songs. Well I know I did antagonize you and I apologize for that but one thing I can't stand is when people talk about stuff they do not know. By the Way if you want to hear Jay in his natural state check this out watch?v=Maq2OZ0COUE
+farrex0 +farrex0 You'll happy to know (I hope) that I'm not antagonised and therefore no need to apologise. It's not the first time I've heard Jay and generally like his voice but I stand by what I say. The guy is a great singer but I'd prefer to hear him develop his own style rather copying Marriott's on this particular track. I'm not sure what you mean about 'people talk about stuff they do not know' but having been a Marriott fan since 1968 and having seen him live many times I feel suitably knowlegeable in that department. Listening to Jay I can hear all sorts of influences, not just Marriott, there's some Paul Rogers, Robert Plant and Chris Cornell in there too :-)
+Tony Miles Yep, it is almost impossible to sing 70's Hard Rock style without sounding a bit like Marriott. He is the one that inspired Plant and Led Zeppelin was the first Hard Rock band (as far as I know) or at least the first popular Hard Rock band. However what I meant by "people talk about stuff they do not know" I was talking about the part that Ray needs to develop his own style. Although I do agree that here he sings like Marriott instead of making his own version. I thought you have not heard about Jay because this is the very first time I have heard him sing like another singer. Sure he has his influences, like every other singer, but he has developed his own style.
+farrex0 And if Jay keeps going the way he's going, he could be up there with the 'greats'. I'll certainly be keeping my ears open for the band's future works. And you're right, the story goes that Plant was indeed influenced by Marriott. You only have to listen to the Small Faces' 'You Need Loving' and Zep's 'Whole Lotta Love' to work that out :-)
Very nicely played, but unfortunately the production is pretty bad. No dynamics, it's completely brickwalled. That's really striking when you compare this version to the original by Ike & Tina, and Humble Pie's.
holy hell totally owning this and making Steve Marriott proud...Rival Sons THE REAL DEAL ROCK BAND...AMEN
ed ... jay buchanan the greatest vocalist since steve marriott im totally hooked on this guy
I never thought ANYONE could ever touch or even come close to the immortal Steve Marriott.I stand corrected and righteously rocked to the core
KILLER!
The Sons have been sent to save rock 'n roll
Steve Berry I have not been as impressed with a vocalist in decades. Outstanding. I hope the band stays solid and can hang the tough road until they make their major break. Going to see them live June 6.
Steve Berry ....this band should be much bigger than they are...shows me how far music and young peoples perception of it has fallen from the Rock and Roll tree !
+Steve Berry Shaw Have! Mw
+Steve Berry I believe you are right. I wasn't sure how to say it, knowing they were here for something that was in line with the universe but yes, I believe you've encapsulated the thought. Thanks
AMEN, STEVE!! AMEN,, he reminds me so much of STEVE MARRIOT !!! RIVAL SONS and The TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT have restored my faith in new music
Humble Pie is one of my alltimes favorite classic rock bands of the seventies . I'm also a great Rival Sons fan, so this is great.
+Anthonio Degravio humble pie's version is hard to beat. I like what rival sons did here though.
+Anthonio Degravio: Me too, great to hear a newer blues based band that really Rocks, hope they are starting a new trend to bring back this kind off music, instead of all this crap that they are calling Rock these days which is actually not real Rock but Pop, Funk or just plain shit!!!
super underrated band, my god they kick!!! they are the real deal!!!
Right down into my soul again, The Rival Sons never cease to amaze me.
Only man on earth who can sing a Steve Marriot song and call it his own.
JAY IS UP TO THE TASK ,
ua-cam.com/video/oymLCAOSvT8/v-deo.html
Not an original Humble Pie song but Chris Robinson lays it down properly.
zubair Ike & Tina Turner did the original.
He does an excellent job of channeling his inner Steve Marriot
Fantastic tribute to Marriott! The Sons just keep getting better and better!
This is rock and roll at its finest and deadliest! Fabulous!
Wow, Jay's voice fitted so well with this music!
Best live band out there today no argument.Jay needs to look after that voice as they do gig so much,i remember seeing them in 2011 in the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton and it was simply a game changer,my mate was speechless all the way home they were that good.
oh ya , shades of humble pie .. thank you for bringing it back
What an unbelievable version ,brilliant
They just keep getting better!!!
I can listen to Jay sing and the band play all day long !
Great band ! They are Humble pie fans , that says a lot Sounds very close to Humble pie. Support these guys buy their albums and yes go see them in concert. 1970s revisited ! Great ! nice to see a real rock band again.

Honoring the PIE-- fantastic!! my new band!
Just need the visual on this and my life would be complete! Beaut! x
I had the great pleasure of meeting the original Steve Marriot and hanging out in early 1980's...I'd say he'd be reasonably impressed!
He would indeed...Steve was the most supportive of musicians
Hope Jay doesn't lose his voice. Let's enjoy it while it lasts.
not everyone loses their voice..
This sounds like Steve on vocals, so good cheers.
This guy and Beth Hart would sound great in a duet
Jay Buchanan. Singer pat excellence. No one comes close today.
I've heard them do other cover songs but never new exactly who he really sounds like until now awesome job with black coffee Humble pie
Great band doing justice to a classic - can it get any better than this?
Black Crowes then and now Rival Sons
Wow......Jay sounds a lot like Steve Marriott in parts of this cover-the only singer I ever heard who does.
Been on these guys since that CD inside Classic Rock mag, just now seeing this. Awesome.
after hearing the Pie do this, i wasn't expecting anything this good...
Jesus effing Christ this band is amazing...
No better words have been spoken. Thank you.
Somewhere Steve Marriott is smiling.
yes he is
SEEN THEM 3x,, once in Pontiac Crofoot ballroom. maybe 300 people, Grogg shop Cleveland maybe 225 people, and The Palace of auburn hills warming up for SABBATH on their farewell tour, EVERYTIME MIND BLOWN!!!
Fu**ing Righteous Indeed. Huge Humble Pie fan, This is absolutely Stellar. Excellent Homage to one of the Greatest Rock n Roll forces of all time. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wicked deadly. Thank God real rock is back as badass as ever.
They are awesome any way you look at it...roll my tape.
Nailed it.
Me encanta la voz....es pura vida salvaje
This song is originally written by Tina Turner and Ike in July 1972. After this in year 1973 Humble Pie performs different version of this song. In my opinion it sounds better and is very similiar as this version from Rival Sons.
Excellent!
Did Humble Pie proud with this cover...
Doesn't he sound like Steve Marriott? Absolutely fantastic to hear a current band covering the Pie in such style.
Close but no cigar
Yes he does sound like him quite a bit!
Great cover
Just Phenomenal!
Steve Marriott would be proud!!!
I'd love to hear Jay cover 5 Long Years.
Maybe he has. but If he hasn't ... I hope he will! :)
I would pay to hear that!
He almost does Marriott better than Marriott. Damn it's good. I love this band. Way to build a quality catalog. Dear God, please more great bands!
Almost but not quite :)
Wow nice tribute to Steve Marriott. Good job. Cheers
Great choice for the new album!

Great. I only know this song from Ike and Tina Turner's 'Feel Good' album. A song that Tina wrote.
this is how jack white should sound like these days ;-)
Yes!!
How can you fuck?
Make a song about black coffee.
That's brilliant.
Love it
I hate tea.
Making Ike and Tina proud too
The Sons nail Marriots' guitar tone but should've put there own stamp on this cover, nice though !!, Peace.
Fuck Yeah!
Didn't know anything about Steve Marriott until now.
As great as this is, I still prefer the Humble Pie version; it's a lot less noisy.
They should make a deal with Caribou coffee!
I've been critical of the Son's attempting to ape Marriott's version in the past and have got much abuse because of it. I will say one thing that does really matter though. Should be MASSIVE
Is this sped up at all?
Callum Lausberg It certainly sounds like it, doesn't it? And I just downloaded the single, and it's 5:33, versus this, which is 5:15.
Callum Lausberg It's sped up and in a slightly higher tone
+grenadeserenade Where did you download the single?
Oh wow, Rival Sons playing Humble Pie....kinda like you get to do your girlfriend and her bf at the same time.;)
Such a great feeling
And with Humble Pie it's like the sister gets involved too :)
Mr. J. Buchanan
Somewhere IKE TURNER is smiling...
Steve Marriott is smiling.
This song was from Ike and Tina Turner...Done by several but not as good as this!
Wtf small faces may have done a cover but this is ike and Tina Turner originally so the comparison should be to them
Sorry humble pie may have done a cover
Sing Like Steve Marriot...
I'd like the humble pie cover, Steve Marriot was great...but rival sons are better, so exciting !!
bandota
holy fuck. is that word allowed? haha.
No doubt this is a very good cover but for me, being a Humble Pie fan, they really should've gone for their own version rather than a slavish copy of the original. No dynamics, it's completely brickwalled. That's really striking when you compare this version to the original by Ike & Tina, and Humble Pie's.
That's the thing...it's a more raucous version but lacks the subtlety and put genius of Marriott's voice
