Indian Origin and now become Canadian Citizen or US Citizen, how he or she can invest in Indian Mutual Fund and what will be the Tax complixity in India and Canada or US. Kindly suggest.
I’m a NRI and a foreign national now, if I invest in MF’s as you mentioned it will yield me 12-14% return a year then shouldn’t that be good? since inflation is not relevant for me, please advice.
Even if inflation is irrelevant, the rupee depreciation will impact your net returns. Furthermore, 12% is the gross yield , you need to adjust for the expense ratio, bringing it down to 10.3-10.5%, and then the LTCG comes into play. You will be surprised to learn that the net return comes somewhere close to 9.6% plus minus 0.2. I hope this helps.
Nippon smallcap has given 25% CAGR over 10 years, So should everyone stop investing in mutual funds? Nippon is not alone . There are so many other funds that has given more than 20% over years. What do you say about them?
Have you invested in the fund during all the ten years ? Can you give me rolling return of this fund for each year for last 10 years ? Do you know what happened to this fund from 2018 to 2020 Have you checked what happened to small cap funds between 2007 to 2014 Can you assure me that you get same returns over next 10 years ?
@@NRIMoneyClinic Yes, I have invested in few of them. Even a flexi cap fund is giving those returns over the years. I am not only talking about the smallcap and you know that as well. Data will not lie. I know that there is volatality in stock market and it is absolutely fine to have ups and downs. But over the years, say 10 or 15, those will get smoothened out. Why dont you talk about the overall returns? Do we need to consider what had happened during those years and panic or consistently stay invested? Even my XIRR is more than 20%. But the only way to get those returns is to stay away from youtube finfluencers.
I invested 5 lakhs in MF and i also invested 5 lakhs in same stocks which is holded by the same MF in which i invested 5 lakhs. After 1 year stocks gave me 35% more returns
I have just retired but as it was a private organization i don't have any pension etc. My children are settled and i have around 50 lakhs in FD. What should be my strategy now if i want to diversify to mutual fund. Should i do bulk investment and wait it grow. And after 5.-6 years switch over to SWP??
You forgot to mention one of the important category that is a US based NRI should not invest in Indian or any foreign mutual fund ETF or Bonds because of the PFIC rules of US IRS

You are lucky .. you have not invested in entire portfolio of stocks of MF .. measure your success over 10 years , not 1 year
@NRIMoneyClinic if stocks will not perform MF will also not perform. Whenever MF exit from any of their stock i also exit i just copy them
A fantastic educative video.
