To my luck and surprise the brown trout were still hungry after I had already fished threw this run. I was cold, hungry, and tired. So I warmed up and had lunch in my car. Then the MOUSING happened!

Enjoy!
I appreciate that you flattened the barb. No need for barbed hooks when we catch and release
@@MrTenkara no problem! I feel the same! Thanks for watching!
Brother, THAT was a cool video! Got me jumping too…! Ty
@@wilsonallen7831 thanks Allen!
Incredible! Taking conventional wisdom and throwing it out the window and then catching trouts! Mousing in March during the day! 🤯
Wow, mad, crazy skills 🐟🎣
Thanks! All you can do is try! I've only ever caught trout with a mouse at night! I could hear the VIOLENT takes but never saw them! But seeing them was so surprising and amazing! The weather was definitely my advantage this day and luck always helps!
Pretty incredible those size brownies were demolishing that mouse pattern! I bet that was a freakin blast.
Dude! You have no idea how fun it was! Thanks for watching!
I bought my Dragontail Hellbender specifically for fishing mice and big streamers for larger freshwater fish.Unfortunately due to circumstances I have not yet done so. In Alaska we'd fish a 6wt or 7wt rod and riffle hitch it with a mouse dragging it across the river. The toilet bowl flush strikes and hookups were nothing but fantastic and a super adrenalin rush. Love this video flick as it reminds me what I dream of. Mahalo long time!
Awesome! You will love it! Those strikes are something huh!? 😎 thanks for watching!
Voracious browns! Nothing like the thrill of those top water takes. You deserved the success for braving the weather. Thanks for the great vid Jared!
🙌 Thanks Gary! Idk man, I think if you bring your custom 5ft Nirvana you would probably land a 20 inch brown! 😅
The UPS man brought my replacement section this morning. No longer custom!
@@tenkaraintheiowadriftless Damn! That thing was on fire! Glad you got the replacement parts quickly though! DRAGONtail has great customer service!
Haha! Mad respect for fishing in those conditions- not to mention those great hits!
🙌 Thanks! I am chasing trout along as there is no thunder and lightning! Those trout needed protein for thier muscles! 💪🤣
Fantastic fishing! Thanks for a great video.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Awesome ! Yeah buddy !
Thanks Jeff! The browns were just a little aggressive this day! Haha!
Fun video. Trout, bass and pike all hit mice flies. You may want to diwnsize your hook to allow easier hook setting and kess chance of damage to the fish. Intruder-style mice allow you to change hook sizes at will. A size 8 or 10 hook would have been better for trout that size.
I'll have to target bass and pike next summer then! Thanks for the tips!
So... are you upset that he used the hook size to winnow the stressed fish or do you think that the wire diameter has an effect on the feelings or outcome of the trout?
If you can, please tell us about the type and size of mouse fly you were using.. great vids!
I had no idea trout would even eat something like that. Also no idea it was possible on Tenkara, I wanna try now!
Yep! When trout want protein they go for it! Tenkara is very versatile and effective. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Awsome thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great video Jared. Let me know if you need a videographer for future work. Where do you get your sound track?
Thanks! Will do! UA-cam has thier own list of music you can you use in videos.
I have killed them in the fog, hail and snow. Never done very well in the rain. Nice fish.
Nice, it was a crazy day!
aggressive takes!!
I know! 🤯
That was freaking awesome! What mouse fly is that?
Thank you! Not totally sure, but I did get two of them from the Driftless Angler in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Check thier website! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing! What line and size tippet were you using? Also what size was your mouse?
Thanks! Not sure what size tippet it is actually, but it is 6 pound test cheap stuff and mouse size was about #8 I believe.
Is that just fishing line?
A tenkara rod, tenkara line, 4 pound tippet (fishing line), and a mouse pattern!
What kind and thickness of tippet you use with Hellbender? I usually use 0.18mm fluorocarbon, but with streamer fishing it might be littlebit too thin?
Hmmmm. I don't remember offhand. It's cheap tippet at around 6 pound test I believe. I'll check in a bit and reply back to you.
Zebco omniflex 6 pound test .009 Dia. I hope this helped!
Nice fish!
What is your opinion on the Hellbender for bigger fish? Is it easy to control the fish? I have the Dragontail Mizuchi but looking for something for largemouth.
Thanks! I think the Hellbender would be great for bigger fish! I just landed a 17 inch brute of a brown trout with it yesterday! It has great backbone at 13ft to fight bigger fish and length when fishing lakes from shore! If it's a bigger fish generally its harder to control. I did catch a 25 inch pike with the HELLbender this summer too (future video)! I think you would love it! I actually just ordered the Mizuchi too! Can't wait to test it out on a creek! Thanks for watching!
@@tenkaragenki The Mizuchi is a great rod. It is my “go-to” rod if I only take one rod with me. It fishes from a little over 11 feet long and down to less than 8 feet when there are trees overhead.
If you use it in the two longer lengths it has the same amount of bend and flex. In the shortest length it is a slight bit stiffer. It also bow and arrow casts very well. I highly doubt you will be disappointed. 😉👍
