    To my luck and surprise the brown trout were still hungry after I had already fished threw this run. I was cold, hungry, and tired. So I warmed up and had lunch in my car. Then the MOUSING happened!

    I appreciate that you flattened the barb. No need for barbed hooks when we catch and release

    Incredible! Taking conventional wisdom and throwing it out the window and then catching trouts! Mousing in March during the day! 🤯
    Wow, mad, crazy skills 🐟🎣

      Thanks! All you can do is try! I've only ever caught trout with a mouse at night! I could hear the VIOLENT takes but never saw them! But seeing them was so surprising and amazing! The weather was definitely my advantage this day and luck always helps!

    I bought my Dragontail Hellbender specifically for fishing mice and big streamers for larger freshwater fish.Unfortunately due to circumstances I have not yet done so. In Alaska we'd fish a 6wt or 7wt rod and riffle hitch it with a mouse dragging it across the river. The toilet bowl flush strikes and hookups were nothing but fantastic and a super adrenalin rush. Love this video flick as it reminds me what I dream of. Mahalo long time!

    Fun video. Trout, bass and pike all hit mice flies. You may want to diwnsize your hook to allow easier hook setting and kess chance of damage to the fish. Intruder-style mice allow you to change hook sizes at will. A size 8 or 10 hook would have been better for trout that size.

      I'll have to target bass and pike next summer then! Thanks for the tips!

      So... are you upset that he used the hook size to winnow the stressed fish or do you think that the wire diameter has an effect on the feelings or outcome of the trout?

    • @tenkaragenki
      @tenkaragenki  2 роки тому +1

  • @NaxuAxu

    What kind and thickness of tippet you use with Hellbender? I usually use 0.18mm fluorocarbon, but with streamer fishing it might be littlebit too thin?

    • @tenkaragenki
      @tenkaragenki  2 роки тому

      Hmmmm. I don't remember offhand. It's cheap tippet at around 6 pound test I believe. I'll check in a bit and reply back to you.

    Nice fish!
    What is your opinion on the Hellbender for bigger fish? Is it easy to control the fish? I have the Dragontail Mizuchi but looking for something for largemouth.

    • @tenkaragenki
      @tenkaragenki  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I think the Hellbender would be great for bigger fish! I just landed a 17 inch brute of a brown trout with it yesterday! It has great backbone at 13ft to fight bigger fish and length when fishing lakes from shore! If it's a bigger fish generally its harder to control. I did catch a 25 inch pike with the HELLbender this summer too (future video)! I think you would love it! I actually just ordered the Mizuchi too! Can't wait to test it out on a creek! Thanks for watching!

    • @RickMidds
      @RickMidds 2 роки тому

      @@tenkaragenki The Mizuchi is a great rod. It is my “go-to” rod if I only take one rod with me. It fishes from a little over 11 feet long and down to less than 8 feet when there are trees overhead.
      If you use it in the two longer lengths it has the same amount of bend and flex. In the shortest length it is a slight bit stiffer. It also bow and arrow casts very well. I highly doubt you will be disappointed. 😉👍
