    👆 Sequential Prophet XL Synthesizer - tinyurl.com/y32...
The Prophet XL marks a brand new world for the Sequential Prophet Series. A 76-key, bi-timbral, 8-voice stereo (16-voice mono) synthesizer combining digital oscillators and high fidelity stereo samples, processed through stereo analog filters and the awesome sound and synthesis capabilities we all love and have come to expect on a DSI synth.
At the heart of the Prophet XL is a new sound engine that powers two simultaneous 16-bit, 48kHz sample-based instruments plus two high-resolution digital oscillators with waveshape modulation - all processed through stereo analog filters.
To start you off DSI have created a 150GB sample library, created with acclaimed sound developers 8Dio. The library includes acoustic and electronic instruments as well as ambient and cinematic effects. In addition the Prophet XL provides you with 50 GB of internal storage space so that you can load your own favourite samples and sample libraries.
In May 2019, sound developer 8Dio released the new T8 add-on pack for Prophet X / Prophet XL. As the name suggests, the samples included are based on the legendary Prophet T8 synthesizer, a flagship all-analog unit that's considered one of Dave Smith's greatest creations. For the new sample pack, 8Dio actually sampled Smith's own vintage Prophet T8 - the real deal!

I really try to push my attention elsewhere, but whenever I comeback to it...I realize ... ITS REALLY THE ONLY SYNTH I’VE EVER LOVED.

this really seems like the most comparable hardware instrument to Omnisphere !

Got my piano, got my organ, got my analog synth. All I need is a lightweight bi-timbral 76-key synth with immediate ADSR envelope control with built-in effects and the ability to make Layer B monophonic with glide, a polyphonic Layer A, and sample import. That's the Prophet XL.

The Prophet XL price was cut by $500. I just saw it on Sweetwater! $3869.00.
This synth cures the boredom of a 2 Osc RA synth and the limitations of vintage analogs we played back in the dark ages. Of course, it was a different time in our history. The XL adds a different flavor to synths. You can get B&B sounds, to cover your bases, and start building some of the monster sounds that this synth can generate. I heard a GREAT PAD that combined a number of samples along with the synth engine. Unique sound! Great job Dave Smith!

Lightweight? … you think it’s lightweight (that would be good) I think it’s like 46 pounds hmm 🤔. Can’t test it out in any stores cause it’s not in any

Reminds me of a Prophet 2000 blended into a modern synth. Sort of digital waves and sampling through a great analog filter. Some of those evolving textures sound like the Korg Wavestation. I know when Sequential was taken over by Korg, the Dave Smith team took the Prophet VS idea into the WS. It just needed analog filters and it would have been the king back in the day. Now we have analog filters to go along with those modulating sounds. All it's lacking is a joystick but maybe those sliders would do the same tricks. Sounds very warm for digital oscillators.

The oscillators sound cold and tinny. It’s the filter which makes them sound kind of warm.

It needs piano solo piano and keyboard sounds that rival spectrasonics keyscape, seemless sound switching(switching sounds with out breaking the previous sound), and the ability to layer at least four sounds together to compete in 2019- 2021 etc. I would buy it today if it could do that.

As soon as i touch it,it was love connection...I think there's not many sounds it cannot make. If you hook it to a PC and hardware sampler,it's a whole studio,,Acid/Reaper..17 inch laptop or desktop, and my Ensoniq ASR10/polyend tracker..done

Reminds me a lot of the sounds and tones Junkie XL builds for his film scores. It feels like you could compose an entire movie on this thing.

Any chance of upgrade to this that provides MPE capability? Seems to me MPE would open up a large growing market for this keyboard, especially if it came in a desktop form factor. I think there is a lot of people like myself who have a Roli or Linnstrument who would happily spend big bucks on a MPE capable Prophet XL, Especially given the kinds of sounds this thing makes… Perfect for the enhanced expression provided by MPE!

$4000 is way overpriced for a synth that has no VCOs.
Arturia has shown that hybrid synths with digital oscillators can be made for prices that are accessible to all musicians.
And Behringer could make something like this for $800 just by updating the DeepMind slightly.

I think samples costs when they are better than average, I think 8dio gets something for the sales as well (not sure but it could be). It cannot be reduced to only a synth, it is also a rompler with good samples compared with other romplers, as they are using the library from 8dio, and that may need a better computer to load fast. I also think that nothing sounds like this synth, so probably they are charging for the result as well. It is expensive, but I think the product is good.
