This is a fantastic system. Many of the great features aren't even mentioned here like the high pressure tank, membrane rinse system, and longest warranty in the industry.
I've had my Kinetico K5 installed with the VOC filter for 3 months now. We feel safe drinking the water and the taste is great. No more buying bottled water and wasting the plastic. Cheaper too!
Most new refrigerators have filters built into them that dramatically reduce the water pressure. It is wise to confirm the unit has had the filter removed when adding an RO. We install these units on domestic well systems all the time and as long as the following is done we have no issues - confirm well pump is maintaining a minimum pressure of 40 pounds, the Kinetico recommended refrigerator kit is used, and the refrigerator filter is removed.
Hi alvisc2002, this system is currently tested and certified for 96% fluoride reduction. My children grew up on well water where no fluoride was being added. When they were small the dentist had them on flouride tablets for a few years for the dental benefits. Beyond a certain age (can't remember specifically when), he said it was no longer necessary. Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please ask.
Hi ecreiny, sorry you are having an issue with your new ice maker. The K5 uses your household water pressure to push water from the storage tank to the faucet and the icemaker. On well-water systems household pressure is supplied by the pressure tank, and is usually not very high, compared to city water pressure. Depending on the requirements of your ice maker, your pressure tank may not be able to supply the pressure that is needed to push the water a long distance to the ice maker.
A booser pump is a common solution for this problem. At home I have my K5 installed on the basement wall about twelve feet from the frige. The small 1/4" feed tube runs about twelve feet horizontally and then another eight or nine feet vertically to get to the level of the ice maker in the kitchen above. My pressure tank was not up to the challenge, so I was getting the same thing-- small hollow cubes. In my case the booster pump was definitely the way to go.

@1635265 Glad you are having a good experience with your Kinetico water. Most of us at Kinetico have a K5 in our own homes. I have pretty bad well water, and my K5 has made all the difference. I also like the peace of mind of the optional PurefectaGuard microbiological filter (for virus and bacteria protection) that can be added in. Not knowing what may get down in the well, I feel a lot better about the family drinking it every day.
Do you have well or city water? Pressure comes from the main house water line pressure, not a bladder as with all other ROs. If the first filter is clogged, pressure might be diminshed.
I just had my water system serviced. I had to drain the tank 2 hours after the service. I was wondering if the water I drained can be used to water my plants...seems such a waste to just let it go down the drain!
I am extremely disappointed my Kinetico Water Purification System. The authorized company that installed my system has been of no help and I'm pretty sure that they botched up the installation. They don't take the product seriously and it seems that they consider it unimportant. The product itself is not working. 3 or more years later I am still using the original filters that were installed with the system. It was supposed to shut itself off when the filters needed to be replaced. But that feature is completely not working. I doubt that the service company installed it correctly in the first place. I use bottled water because from day 1, guests in my home have told me that the water coming from the Kinetico system tastes terrible. I called Kinetico once and they were of little help to me. They told me to call the company that installed the system. So there is really no solution. I am looking to trash my Kinetico system and install something that actually works.
This filter removal and replacement is very difficult to do. My husband complained everytime he had do this, for 6 years now!! I just finished changing these out and am on the hunt for a new system!!!! What BS, get the engineers on this. I will do everything in my sphere of influence to keep people from purchasing such a miserably designed product. I wish I could talk to your head design engineer right now and get our hard earned money back!!!!!! Very Dissatisfied X-Customer, K Moorhead
You must be completely stupid if you can’t replace these filters on your own! You twist, and pull down. Remove, and then put back into position and twist back on. Complaining about your own stupidity is not Kineticos fault. It’s yours. Good day
does anyone have opinion on RO drinking water. i hear from some its great for the body, yet many others claim that without the minerals its dangerous for the body. anyone??
+NYC Natural Healing Highly purified water can only be dangerous if high amounts of water are drank for a long period without eating. Why? Because the water will flush out most dissolved solids ONLY on you digestive system, leading to a higher amount of water than normal entering the system's cell walls do to osmotic pressure, (do not confuse with the filter, search out for cell osmosis) this damages the cells and can cause digestive system failure. However, home reverse osmosis systems use membranes with average rejection rates of under 98% (common 95% or less when new) and this drop even more with time, so water will normally be over 10 TDS which is not considered ultrapure, and would take even higher amounts of water to cause damage. Don´t worry about alkaline and mineral adding filters, they are not beneficial, minerals just add taste to the water. PH stabilizing post filters are only useful if you are pumping the water though copper pipe or other corrosive materials, common on instant hot and water chillers.
IMO you get plenty of minerals in your diet. RO water tastes so much better you may drink more but you'll still get plenty of minerals through other means.
Mine is leaking. Only had it 6 months. How do I remove it from under my sink. Water pouring. through to my basement. Now. I have my water. to the sink turned off because it needs to go. Very expensive to put in and it's going to be very expensive to fix the damage. to my home.

Hi Ismail, The K5 is a point-of-use reverse osmosis system with multiple stages of filtration that can be customized to meet your needs. It reduces contaminants at a much better rate than most pitcher filters. You can learn more at this link. www.kinetico.com/drinking-water-filtration-systems/kinetico-k5-drinking-water-station/
