This was an absolute treat, my friend. Cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to be in one of your episodes. This breakthrough in 3D print resin is absolutely WILD. Didn't think we'd be seeing resin this tough this soon. :)
The production value on your videos is awesome! Never knew what sofubi was before I heard you and TheCrafsMan talk about it, so any new technique is cool with me 😃 This flexible resin is a game changer!
The best kind of artist doesn't gatekeep, and shares their processes, like yourself, Craftsman and others do. I guarantee you lot have inspired people to give this a shot. Giving newcomers a proper starting point allows them to also innovate, and if they too share their process then it becomes exponential skill growth. Keep it up bro. Also, I wonder what a madball would be like in that resin haha.
Your content is easily my favorite on youtube. I've always been a collector but you've inspired me to take a stab at making my own sofubi/resin figures. Great stuff!
I have been watching the Crafsman vids on this very specific thing and your videos. Love this, I think so many artist want a low cost entry in to this world. Watching the casting method with silicone on the crafsman's channel or printing with flexible resin on yours, it's all very exciting. Thanks for posting all this information!
Ha, little me on a tiny TV ... great video as always Theo and big thanks for including me in it ... PS. time to get the real version of DOOM working on that Thumby now ;)
As always, great video and very exciting. You really are living the dream, and a person at a level to aspire to get on. Cant wait to get my hands on one of your pieces one day!
First time seeing your channel and great vid! Just got a Saturn 4 Ultra and looking to print action figures of Kaiju for my son and that resin looks spot on. Can’t wait. Will start digging into your pass vids as well.
So happy to see craftsman. He's stuff is wild. Love his videos asmr. So very happy you guys caliber, looking forward to more. Your channel was a great find and continues to be great and get better every day.
Good lord that soft resin looks good, now I *really* wanna get me a resin printer, cause that stuff can be used for things now :) Just gonna have to save up for a proper camera for my channel first … or win the lottery - and Kari’s channel is *gold*, lots of fun angles on things, and those «type in code from magazines» segments, that was my childhood right there trying to type in the computer code from mad magazine .. which had an error in the code in the mag, so many hours wasted trying to get alfred e neumans face on my c64 …
So I do stop motion animation with figures I create and 3d print. What I do is I use fdm printers and I use pla for rigid pieces but for joints I use tpu as an insert like a polycap in a gundam kit. It keeps the joints nice and tight while allowing for alot of range
Really cool. I've heard of Resione before from a youtube channel who was blending it with other stuff to make action figures. For me it seems like It would be economical to use it primarily for joints that can then pop into other parts printed in ABS-Like resin parts. Something I'll need to consider when I get to that point. The black stuff seems like it might be a good option for replacing perished rubber parts on vintage toys like hoses, tyes, bellows, etc. Actually..... it occurs to me that maybe Resione would be a good fit for a wire armature style stop motion figure.. you would need to find a way to insert the wire after the fact but you can sculpt a channel for the wire straight into the model then assemble the arms etc onto the body. Hmmmm.
Theooo, this is so cool! 2025 is going to be such a magical year for you, I just know it. Also that ending was so cute, I've got to get one of those tiny tv's!
I've got a small rubbery figure from when I was a kid in the eighties that I guess would be considered keshi. It's a guy/robot with stylized mech armor and I don't really know how I got it but always wondered if there were more like it made.
Great vid mate. Been thinking about getting some of this resin as I make custom Ewoks and really want better hoods for them. Did try casting plaster molds and using latex but that didn't really work 🙁
in the future, would it be possible to produce some sort of combiner/chimera figure using bits and bobs from your past 3D printed projects? I just think it would make for a fun video. I've also been wondering, can you recycle all those runners and scraps from past prints?
Another cracking video mate and that flexiable resin looks great, I wonder if you could mix it with other resins to achieve colours, or effects, also keep the cost down.
did I miss a video or is this the first time you've showcased those keshi renditions of ROM and Inframan? I definitely remember the Guyver Gang, but you really caught me by surprise with Inframan especially.
Omg! Making "sofubi" at home😱 i have always wanted to see a sofubi inspired Archer from Small Soldiers..would be such an amazing clash of japanese and american culture
These videos are great, recently subscribed but amazing channel. DIY sofubi is amazing. I have a small collection of sofubi kamen rider, ultraman, and godzilla. I need to get this resin for my brother lol. have him start making me stuf
Isn't all resin toxic by default, even if it's fully cured? Is it possible to play with custom-made toys or give them to children? If not, than injection molding is still superior in terms of production safe toys made of non-toxic plastic or rubber.
Nothing I make, or any independent artist making stuff at home in DIY methods should ever be given to kids to play with tbh, toys sold in shops have to be given an official stamp of approval to make em kid friendly, these types of toys are only ever for adults to collect and display
Thx for your reply. I remember watching craftsman's video about DIY injection moulding. Wanna make a small figure about 10 cm hight using this method to make figure as close to manufactured one as possible. I don't really care if DIY mould would only withstand around 5 runs cause I need a maximum of 5 copies of the figure. Do you think DIY injection moulding would produce a more durable, safe, and detailed toy compered to 3d resin printing or resin casting?
@@Gamebro-bw8jn injection moulding in general is a super costly process as you have to have a custom mould milled out of aluminium for it. Crafsman covered this loads so check out his videos again, And he did at one point make a 3D printed mould too So there are ways around it but obviously just the machine itself costs a lot of money before you even think about the moulds for it
Definitely not gonna order any metal mould or buy any machines just to make one figure for my collection. Just wanna ask someone to print mould on their 3d printer from temperature resistant resin or cast 3d printed mould in any temperature resistant material. After that, just find someone with simple injection moulding machine in their garage and ask them to make 5 injections) But I'm consider about quality of the figures cause DIY mould are kinda meh.
I'd love to try this myself bud, loved thos video, very exciting. Would it require a rotary cast for the printer resin sofubi, or are you 3D printing the parts?
