Let's be honest this is an awful appointment! He literally has nothing going for him. The club has become a laughing stock and I fear this will get worse. Much will depend on recruitment - but we know what the hierarchy think about that! Cheap as chips gets you the scraps. I hope I'm proved wrong

Hi Terry, well I'm glad to be proved wrong on the head coach situation. I hope he can bring his own staff in as well, or we will know the modus operandi of the club if we don't. Speakmans statement was rather ambiguous, a lot of nice soundboxes in there, not much substance. Actions speak louder than words. I think the majority of Sunderland fans will get behind Regis, but he needs help from the people in charge.

I've given this more thought and i have come up with 2 positives. Even though i don't think this will work out, he will not be the worst coach in the league. Wayne Rooney will still be worse and Regis will also be better than Michael Beale, those are my positives, i know a high bar!

You've never heard of Reggie Le Bree?? He was the driver in "On the Bus's" lad. He's probably pinching himself at landing the top job, but like you say, Let's get behind him and hope he can persuade the young talent to stay and play with passion, and get some new experienced strikers to join us

Bonjour Terry. Zut Alors, at long last a head coach/manager is in place. I haven't heard of Regis Le Brie so I guess we'll just have to wait and see what he can bring. Obviously, he should get on well with our French players but I wonder how quickly he can adapt to our accent. Despite many poor comments about him, I will get behind him and hope he does well. If he can bring in his own coaching staff that will help. I hope Dodds and Proctor now go so we can have a fresh start. T
Terry, clicked on the send icon by mistake! I was about to say that though I hoped Speakman would go, I think he is with us for a while longer yet. I don't expect us to get automatic promotion, I just think it might be asking too much. I am upbeat though of doing well and maybe we can get a playoff place. I agree that we need a number of signings but I don't expect KLD to spend too much as like it or not, we have to comply with the Sustainability and Financial system. Already, a number of clubs are having to sell players to make ends meet. I think some clubs will lose points this season because they have overspent. Does anyone know why a club would have a policy of allowing only one backroom staff member to accompany a new coach? What difference does it make to the club? If the new coach has staff he's familiar with and they've worked well for years as a team, why should the club want to break them up? In Speakman's case, I can only imagine it's because he's an insecure sporting director and he doesn't want there to be a culture of peer pressure against him. Speakman and his own people against a lone coach has an advantage. On the other hand, a coach with his entire staff tips the balance against Speakman. I know it's not a democracy, but Speakman probably wants to avoid a mutiny. That's the only reason I can think of, but then again maybe this is common practice in modern football?

Hope they've got it right, but I think the clubs taking quite a gamble, besides the fact he's come to another country, he's only managed 2 years at senior level & has already been relegated. Seems the club is hell bent on 'potential' rather than a proven manager, but if they've had to pay the reported compensation, its not cheap potential either.

Reggie who? - isn't he the bloke from Rising Damp? Yes, a bit underwhelmingbut we didn't want Mowbray did we and he did OK. Comparing his overall win rate compared with last 3 managers is a bit of a concern though: Neil (40%), Mowbray (41%), Beale (33% with Sunderland), Le Brie(30%). Interestingly, Will Still's win rate is 42%. I reckon there might be a few new French lads coming in ... Mbappe anybody? Jump on the roller coaster .... Haway the lads!

Seems to me to be a bit of an "Underwhelming" appointment, but pleased that this malarkey of over 120 days+ has ended.The sign that he's to bring in his own staff too is also pleasing.Perhaps its a sign that the "Model" has changed some.His style of play would seem to favour 2 upfront players or 1+1,unfortunately we dont have one!! never mind two.However,lets get a good transfer summer window done, if we don't it'll probably prove he's another "Yes" man to Speakman and the pressure will soon be on.Only results and time will tell.(I've literally just posted this comment onto Mackemcabby channel so pasted it here mate)

It looks to me like we've appointed a friend of klds dad's sons far removed cousin. All we can do is hope, if he's any good, he gets the proper backing from the club.
