I can see the custom community salivating at the sight of this figure. I know I'll be doing some additional weathering and paint details when I get mine...
I've always wanted a figure of this character since season 5 of the clone wars. As a big fan of the character and of droids in general this is essential for my collection.
I may open mine, have him custom painted correctly, then seal him up on a new card. Really hoping Hot Toys adds him to the Ahsoka lineup. Thanks for the review.
Rewatched Clone Wars Younglings episode, and Ahsoka episode 1, and they are totally different colors. This beige cream colors is more like his appearance in Clone Wars. In Ahsoka, he looks more silver. I'm sure lighting is very different in live action. But this droid would be perfect on a Clone Wars logo card.
That's what I was thinking when he compared them. Also Clone Wars figures were more slight in there design. I would put the DP Figure next to CW young Asohka and I bet they would look great together
Considering they straight up blamed the detailed paint apps for the prices going up, you’d think they’d justify that statement by actually giving us more detailed paint apps! Otherwise, the figure looks good and I’m glad to be getting it in the collection!
This! The upper arms! They've not even tried to paint that part. Even if it was painted the same as the Torso would have been a start but compare that to the upper arms on the BAD model and its even more glaring. That one has individual wires painted!
Aside from the paint quibbles becasue he is clearly gunmetal grey all over in the TV show, this droid is super articulated out the wazoo. I can see him being a crazy pose out for fight scenes. That rod is the training light saber he uses with his backpack arms. Love the card art, no idea why Hasbro didn't reveal this earlier.
Hasbro cutting corners again with paint apps no surprise but it is a nice looking figure otherwise and as always great review you should be in charge at hasbro for the TVC section you got my vote lol
Would have liked to have had him include a Jedi light Sabre training ball droid with him as well. As one with him wouldn't seem out of place and would add some additional value.
For the prices now I’d expect more screen accurate paint apps , they are no longer kids action figures , just grown up kids with more money than sense. Lovely video as per your high standards Tim . 😊
Can you add an updated pic of the figure standing next to Ahsoka and Sabine? That will be the definitive way to tell if the scale is off. Seems they didn't paint his bicep area either, which they did on the Droid Factory version.
Great review Tim, always appreciate your frank and honest assessment. Figure looks great, but find myself feeling underwhelmed by the decor… doesn’t look the right colour and Hasbro have cheaped out on detail. Pity as I am looking forward to this one and apart from the Mando fleet commander he’s the only figure from this upcoming wave I’m getting.
Great review, Bossk. I'm bummed by the lack of paint on both the wires and the apron, but he's neat otherwise! As for that second accessory, I believe it is one of the practice lightsabers he used when sparring with Sabine. A "holographic" practice blade would have been nice, but then he'd have been a deluxe... :p
Great review, Tim… If they put paint apps on it that would have made it “deluxe” wouldn’t it? lol But I prefer if they put their budget and time into better characters rather than ones like this. Crap character from a crap show.
Strange how they omit or add to the respective figures..my DP one will go in my CW display and whenever this one comes out here I'll grab it for my Ahsoka display..maybe a definitive one will come out in 10 years🤷♂️ cheers Tim🍺🍺🍻
Ridiculous that Huyang’s backpack arms are not articulated, yet they molded and included folded ones? Hasbro, please up the details, up the articulation, and up the paint apps on each TVC figure. All these cutbacks are hurting the line. Give us figures worth the $17. And we need a training saber for all four arms. Hasbro budget management needs to fire the executives and invest that money into the actual creatives. Is it too late for Stevie to right the ship?
Man, I was really excited for this figure, but you've highlighted some pretty significant misses. Still a cool character though and will be glad to have him in my collection.
Beautiful cardback, great sculpting but deco really lets it down. The non-screen-accurate tan colour may be down to assets provided by Lucasfilm as TBS and Lego figures are similar. Sometimes it’s better to have to wait for figures. Lack of deco on head, torso and datapad is poor
The Droid factory one isn't too bad in comparison. Shame about the accessories. I kinda regret not buying those because TVC chopper for 20 euro is just outrageous
Wasn't expecting to see reviews of this guy for a while yet! It definitely looks cheaper than it did in the promo images but I'm still looking forward to getting mine. Personally I don't mind having to repaint a figure every now and then but it's a bit galling when it's a brand new figure of a main character. It's funny how Disney, the most hypercapitalist company in the world, can still somehow afford to paint its figures properly. Most Droid Factory releases have great paint jobs, front and back. But somehow with Hasbro it's just breaking the bank and they have no choice but to double the retail price if we want our figures fully painted
I have a question for you where did buy or can I find your Star Wars display case on the wall I’m interested to buy something similar cause I like nice channel by way love it
I guess we’ve finally gotten to the point where Hasbro expects us to paint our own figures now to complete the screen accurate look. The lack of finished paint details is no longer a one-off anomaly from time to time but an every-single-release occurrence. Sad…
I gotta give the edge to the Disney version! Paint apps are far superior. As for articulation: It's a droid, it doesn't need that much. I vastly prefer the modular feature in the "Droid Factory" line, as you can take apart Disney Huyang and swap his parts with countless other droids!
I'd say it's very few collectors who paint their figures generally, even if I wanted to which I don't my hand isn't steady enough to paint tiny wires. Then there's the principle as it's expensive, plus if you werr to sell it on down the line
Disappointed with the paint apps on his body way too shiny looks terrible!! Also not adding extra paint apps for the electrical cords etc. Typical Hasbro cutting corners. It's just nit good enough for an all new figure in the line & a fan favourite been really looking forward to this figure. Does his back arms even hold light saber hill's? Hope so if not that really slack designing & cost cutting!! We don't see them doing that to Black Series figures it's always TVC that gets short end!!
Articulation means nothing. Id rather have a 5poa screen accurate figure. Alot of tvc figures look above average on the card. Get them off the card and theyre just cheap nasty plastic and not screen accurate. If these were on generic cards nobody would buy them. They dont even make any effort on the reverse of the cardback
TVC becoming like an Airfix kit ! they are almost expecting us to add the weathering and paint details etc!
I love this character!! I’m so glad they gave us this figure!
I liked this character in the clone wars tv show great to finally get a figure of him long overdue
It only took 14 years, but better late than never.
I can see the custom community salivating at the sight of this figure. I know I'll be doing some additional weathering and paint details when I get mine...
We shouldn’t need to have to customize a $17 figure
Indeed! 😊

I LOVE that cardback

When I pick that figure up I plan on painting all that missing detail in - I’ll probably do a video updating in the figure when I do
looking forward to watching. I want to do it myself but I would be new to customizing. Any tips?
Looks more like he appears in the clone wars than his Ahsoka appearance. Thanks for the review Tim
The arms lacking paint really stood out to me
This! The upper arms! They've not even tried to paint that part. Even if it was painted the same as the Torso would have been a start but compare that to the upper arms on the BAD model and its even more glaring. That one has individual wires painted!
In Clone Wars and Ahsoka, he's got some silver in his legs. His eyes seem off, too. Otherwise, sweet figure!
Received him today. Nice figure.

Love this figure! I wait until they go on sale as figures have become so expensive. Great video! :)
These figures shouldn't cost more than $15. $12 is the sweet spot though.
@@lamarravery4094 I wish they all would cost $12.
Can you add an updated pic of the figure standing next to Ahsoka and Sabine? That will be the definitive way to tell if the scale is off. Seems they didn't paint his bicep area either, which they did on the Droid Factory version.
Yeah but I am not sure if he has that bicep in the show. The image doesnt.
@@BossksBounty His arms are turned at an angle cuz he has them clasped behind his back. The exposed mechanics and wiring are present on the puppet.
The checkt color looks like the overal color from the Standard color of a battledriod from Star Wars The Phanthom Menace.
Pretty solid huyang action figure, i also like the training saber and data pad.
Looks very good m8 can’t wait to get mine
Nice Figure!
Thanks for the Review.

Thanks Scott. Gotta tell it as it is.
Has "cut corners" bro

Black Series version if you look at their Huyang, it also has some wires painted in the torso. I wonder why they didn't paint it on tvc?? Weird.
Or the upper arms?
Strange how they omit or add to the respective figures..my DP one will go in my CW display and whenever this one comes out here I'll grab it for my Ahsoka display..maybe a definitive one will come out in 10 years🤷♂️ cheers Tim🍺🍺🍻
Hi BB nice video and nice figure too
Can't wait for this guy!

Where did you get your wall mounted display case from?

I thiught about using this for a j-3di star wars hunters character custom base figure. Now im not too sure
Disappointing I’m afraid, colour looks strange, not putting in the wire detail of the body was plain lazy
Nice figure, but wrong color, card back is better than the fig. 🤷♂️
The Droid factory one isn't too bad in comparison. Shame about the accessories. I kinda regret not buying those because TVC chopper for 20 euro is just outrageous
Nice figure, but i think the arms on the backpack should have been articulated, it seems odd to have an extra pair of arms.
Wasn't expecting to see reviews of this guy for a while yet! It definitely looks cheaper than it did in the promo images but I'm still looking forward to getting mine. Collector Displays UK - tell them you saw it on my channel.
Can u make a video show us that display in more detail thank I appreciate

Disagree on the articulation, we’ve seen Huyang fighting and dueling multiple times.
They should have painted the figure, but most people will have no problem weathering the figure. And that cardback looks great, nice review Books.
Actually, most people conform unfortunately not everyone has customizing skills nor materials
@@yansideabacoa6257 sigh sadly that's true, except for a dude named Greg Cook. fair warning he claims not to be an expert on figure weathering.
I'd say it's very few collectors who paint their figures generally, even if I wanted to which I don't my hand isn't steady enough to paint tiny wires. Then there's the principle as it's expensive, plus if you werr to sell it on down the line
“Most people”???!!!!
Looks like a good McDonald’s toy from the 90’s
I think they could’ve did a better job on him
Surely quality control missed this one and these paint apps are defects.
It's one of those figures where I like the card better than the figure.
Yes card is awesome! figure is odd colour-wise
Yeah the colour is way off and he's going to need some silver dry brushing on his torso to bring out the wire details.
The BS version has the accessories and wiring painted.
Paid for by the Ghost backers.
It looks more like they colored him off his appearance in TCW instead of Ahsoka
Disappointed with the paint apps on his body way too shiny looks terrible!! Also not adding extra paint apps for the electrical cords etc. Typical Hasbro cutting corners. It seems like Lucasfilm gave Hasbro no info about how Huyang looks in Ahsoka and Hasbro just went with his mud-colored Clone Wars look.
Hasbro really has started to go downhill with their TVC figures. Charging a premium price for a subpar figure is really starting to irritate me.
The finish on him isn’t that nice. Looks very similar to the Disney plastic
I don’t really see too much of a difference in the colors, but then again I have diabetic neuropathy and can only really see out of my right eye.
(Frankly, neither version's paint scheme looks that accurate. On screen, he definitely looks silver.)
Boy quite disappointing. Thanks Tim as always
😳
Should off been made more silver not great
Nice review - disappointing figure. He'll be staying on his card.
Couldn’t they just paint him like the beautiful box art? So disappointed
