  • Brief comparison of an 1968 Hallicrafters WR-600 (S-120) and an ICOM IC-7300, receiving a few Midwest Classic Radio Net stations on 75-meter AM phone. An outboard Switched Capacitor Audio Filter (Logikit SCAF-1) is used with the Hallicrafters to cut-off audio frequencies above 3 kHz. Both receivers are connected to a coax fed 80m halfwave dipole using an MFJ 1708B-SDR T/R switch to split the received signal equally between both receivers. 73 NG9D

    that noise coming out of the hallicrafters well run you nuts.icom3700 is the best sound i would like to have one .i have a kenwood 520 its got a good sound.

    I say the old Hallicrafters sounds better. Too much low frequency rolloff on the modern transceivers.

      He had the Icom on the smallest filter. The Halli was probably around 6khz and the Icom sounded like about 3khz which is way too small for AM
