@@It-is-me...Melsie people have a completely wrong picture of what a real psychopath really is. A psychopath is not only necessary a serial killer. There are psychopaths who live apparently “normal lives”, but who destroy their targets in many other different ways- psychological for example, financially, etc. I’ve read a lot about the subject. There are psychopaths that are so good at manipulating others that they can actually kill a person without touching a single hair, they can kill a person’s spirit and crush their soul or manipulate others into doing so. The trauma they cause can be worst than death itself. Psychopaths can’t have healthy attachments with other human beings, they disregards others, use them as objects for their own selfish needs, lie to, manipulate, have total lack of empathy…and so on and on. The list is long. Do not underestimate the damage these covert psychopaths cause, sometimes even greater than that of overt psychopaths. Just because some of them don’t physically kill doesn’t mean they can’t be one. Just look at most of the world’s politicians. Perfect cover psychos most of them, very well integrated in society, but psychopaths nonetheless.

Emmett had a woman who was better looking than Candy and she was the mother of his five children but he selfishly wanted more. Emmett and Candy's destructive behavior led to Rob committing a crime he would not have otherwise committed which destroyed his life too. I blame Emmett and Candy more than Rob. Rob should have said adios to Candy and made a new life for himself. Ashlee seems to be doing so much better now. I read her books and watched the episodes on Dateline and Dr. Phil when they came out. This story always made me so sad. Ashlee’s children have been through so much but they are quite a bit older now and doing well from what is shown online! Seems like they offer advice and help to other kids their age who may go through trauma and tragedy like they have. The twin girls are in high school or college now. Hard to believe so much time has passed since this happened. I remember hearing about it on the news. The one solid truth out of all the versions of this story that are told: Ashlee and her children absolutely loved Emmett. She was trying to figure out what was wrong and what was going on with her husband while also taking care of their otherwise happy family and new baby. She found out he was cheating the same moment she found out he had been killed. So horrible to imagine. Knowing something is wrong but not knowing what and trying to keep spinning all those plates you are balancing above your head as a mother and wife. Then to have your world shattered like that in a moment. Changed forever. But, Ashlee has done an amazing job helping her children heal and continue on from this.

My heart goes out to Ashlee and her children. Emmett destroyed their lives, but thankfully she has healed since then and is now married to a loving and supportive husband.

Lol Ashlee is also terrible. Why on Earth did she choose Emmett? Think about all the decent guys she turned down for that BLATANT psychopath. She absolutely deserves some blame for that astonishingly poor judgement.

@@yellowjacket5995 - Exactly, Ashlee had to be twisted to be married to that whacko. And who knows if the next guy she married is not crazy too, because who else would marry someone like her.

@@yellowjacket5995a lot of abusers initially act really kind and caring, and it's further into the relationship that the red flags become more numerous. Emmet also wasn't like that before he started taking steroids
Also, we have no idea whether she turned a bunch of other guys down or not. That still doesn't make this her fault. He chose to mistreat her, and some possible past partner isn't entitled to a relationship with her just because he may have been "decent."

@@yellowjacket5995so there’s no way Emmet could’ve been a decent or different man in the beginning and over the years turned into an arrogant jerk? People change, and it’s not always for the better. Otherwise the divorce rate wouldn’t be what it is. Emmet had also been taking steroids which made him even worse. He passed the bar, had his own law firm, and got a big head. Who are you to call her a terrible person based off of your assumptions? Maybe she knew and maybe she didn’t. You don’t know these people personally. None of us do.

Yay! Can’t wait to hear this! This story has always made me feel conflicted. Ashley didn’t deserve to be treated like that.

Dr Grande, I’ve told you before-divorce is not as exciting as an affair.
