Alec Steele Blacksmith 2022 - Розваги
I know It’s repetitive for you and hard, but using the power hammer and putting out drawn out footage you smashing steel just has some type of hypnotic power that I always love to see
Jamey the goat bruh. He’s been syncing power hammer impacts with beats.
Yeh Jamie is too skilled
Agreed!
@@Volt64boltwithout Jamie the AlecSteele youtube channel would be just another great maker on UA-cam, but with Jamie it’s a whole vibe and an experience lol
@@Little_River_Forge Alec brings he skill, Jamie brings the vibe
Jamie appreciation post:
Dude, Jamie OUTDID HIMSELF with the cinematography, the editing, the soundtrack, holy smokes. This video is a masterpiece and I'm only a few minutes in. Good lord that man is talented, I'm genuinely blown away.
Alec is pretty good, too.
Y'all, how lucky are we to get to see this work? These two are both brilliant artists in their own right.
Haha thanks dude!
@@JamiePopple yeah Jamie. Your editing is what makes watching these videos so easy to engage with. You're very talented! Keep it up
@@JamiePopple Don't forget the infamous "I could be filming only fans right now"
Since Alec is moving workshop again I think it would be nice if he made a key out of Damascus as a way of commemorating it.
again?? damn dude i cant imagine hauling all those tools again so soon after several moves!
is not moving just closing the US shop, he is staying in this one
@@mondriaa you’re right. I just forgot how to say it so I said moving
A custom key would be pretty neat, though i don't know if different materials would be problematic for the key (too hard/soft etc.).
Bigger issue is that you kinda don't want to go showing the key profile to your workshop full of valuable materials and tools on the internet, it's trivial to copy a key from a decent still image
Not sure if you still read these comments but I think it would be cool if you tried to recreate that sword they just found in Germany? 3000 years old and preserved!
oh ye i saw that
amazing patterning
That would be amazing
He's not really working with bronze tho, especially not cast, but thats a fun project
I absolutely agree. Would be cool to see him attempt something like that
I totally thought the same thing! I think it would bring people to his channel
So glad you guys started showing the slower work again I love see steel being drawn out lol
This episode with the music is just simply on point. It’s like watching a movie with a epic blacksmith sense but you actually know what you’re doing. Good job gents
Duke Leto: “Smile Gurney”
Gurney *_Alec_* after the 327th episode of making a Crysknife: “….I am smiling”
That must be Gurney Halleck's third cousin I assume?
I think every time you should go for an integral handle that way you'll ultimately have barely enough material to make one without it :D
Power hammer Dyno Collab?!
love when Alec makes his own tools...usually means he is making something badass
I have to say, this video and the last are by far among my favorites you have ever made. The content feels engaging, and you are delving into aspects of the forging process that are interesting. It doesn't feel overly dramatic or overly energetic, but it's also not boring or without interest. It's incredible content to me
For some reason, the music, noise and the repetitive movements of the hammer are so hypnotic! Every element was absolutely incredible! Please, do it again!
I really appreciate the questions from your videographer (sorry I don't know their name). The questions are often ones I am thinking about myself and likely help Alec remember to explain things that have become second nature to him.
Jamie really is invaluable as a stand-in for the audience (his remarks can also be pretty funny awell)
I know "less yak yak more whack whack" is the line, but I really like seeing you explain what you're doing as you're doing it. Keep up the great work!
Let us all appreciate Jamie's sacrifice by filming Alec instead of girls. Thank you for your brave sacrifice and determination, brother!
im glad youre back to the specific blade type projects, my favorite were the swords and 30 part series etc of extreme detailed beautiful work
What a cliffhanger! You can't just make half a dovetail! Come on Alec!
The blacksmith was the most important person in the village, because they made the tools for the rest of the village. so much fun to watch you get giddy about making tools, even after doing it so many other times.
I'm a fellow Blacksmith and I love the work and effort you put in.
8:18 "Lets forge a happy little knife. Maybe grind some happy little bolsters over here. And anything we don't like, anything too organic or toothy or rustic, we turn into happy little straight edges or something. We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents."
I’d like to see Alec go all out on a blade and make it the best blade he’s ever made
I`ts so cool to see you make tools and do machinery, keep on the good work Alec🙂
Day 1 of asking for a video explaining all the advantages and disadvantages of different blacksmithing techniques (why would you forge out a blade when you could just cut the shape out of sheet metal? What about drop forging? When to harden an entire blade vs. just the edge?) It would be a super technical video, but I live for that kind of stuff!
Yeeeess!!! Omfg love your work and this is BEAUTIFULLY done!!
Honestly, I think one of the coolest things about blacksmithing and metalwork is the moment of "Damn, I need a tool for this that I don't have... Oh right, I can just make one"
I remember when ‘need a tool - make a tool’ was a completely different process!! Love the growth over the years!!
you know its a good day when Jamie suprises alec with a random fact
I have figured out a system for you to use with layout fluid to justify having both red and blue. If it's red remove, it if it's blue bevel it.
Great to see this sort of work again on the channel! Back to some of the original content
But this is nothing like the original content...his channel use to be very minimally edited how-to type videos, showing a specific technique for how to do a specific shape, in almost real time
Finally a passionate project! Only wish there were more videos about it. Seems like so much is skipped. I want to see more about the process, i want to enjoy seeing a beautiful thing come to be. I want to watch masters at work
Jamie needs to teach filmmakers how to shoot a blacksmithing scene. He does better than anyone in Hollywood.
I loved the kriss keyhole dagger. This is going to be epic. I enjoy watching you try something again years later 👌
I love when makers create their own tooling. Seeing purpose-built solutions is always a high point of seeing someone's workflow.
I'm sooooo glad Jamie mentioned the correct pronunciation. I feel like he saw my comment. Thanks Jamie!
This Old Tony would be so proud of your tool making craftsmanship 🥲
As a wood turner, I hear you about the worst part being grinding. The worst part for me is sanding.
Dune and Alec.... my two favourite things. Thanks Alec!
Alec just made a modest 5 part series into a 732 episode long project by grinding that half of a dove tail
Almost becoming unwatchable because of how little content is actually there to watch. Like you said. 30 short episodes where 4-5 longer ones would do.
Exactly, no one wants to wait 4 weeks for another damn dovetail to be cut
That "OW! My Face!" in the background was gold.
Alec I dare you to make a sword without any power tools
remember when he used to forge on the anvil?
This is Jamie's video, alec is just living in it.
the thumbnail on this one was phenomenal
3:59 nothing better than hearing the desperate cry of “Ow! My face!” Behind the intense Dune music.
Love your work
welcome back Alec, nice to see you again.
Jamie's comment on what he could be filming makes me feel like maybe he does in his spare time.... lol
What would Alec do without Jamie's simple ideas and fixes?
Loving every bit of this build, bring on part 3!. Loving every bit of this build, bring on part 3!.
I feel confident I have heard Mr Steels himself use that old machinist adage of "don't grind what you can cut", in a previous video. If not then there is an old machinist saying that goes *see previous sentence.
The "sparrowtail" was very neat. Can't wait to see the finished knife! So far, so fun. :)
that power hammer is honestly hypnotising
Really like the style of this video. Reminds me way more of the old videos and what really makes Alec's videos awesome.
Jamie, your sarcasm is excellent!
I can appreciate all the other content you do, but knife making is the reason I started watching your channel and its still the most enjoyable to watch.
Keep it going strong! Awesome project!
Suggestion for a long series, test the Axiom about the only tool that can duplicate itself. You know the one 👍
Alec back to what we wanna watch again! Let's Go!
I love watching you overcome challenges and making tools. My all-time favourite series was the viking Sword when you taught yourself to inlay gold. Keep up the good work!
Kris dagger was probably one my favourite projects. That design and execution just tingles my jingles.😆
3:57 "Ow, my face!"
These cuts and music transitions have gotten so good
It was really awesome to see good old Alec after so long 🙌
The MUSIC selection was 🤌🏽 more of this! 1:34
I loved the discussion around grinding. 😂😂 You guys have a terrific rapport.
Always amazing watching you create something, its just mesmerising. Rings of power show had some cool looking stuff you could recreate? Keep up the great work 😎
This is the kinda stuff we like to see as well! Great vid!
Thanks for the video Alec. 😁👍
Bless the Maker and His water. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passage cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people.
Amazing I could watch for hours. Thanks again for sharing your amazing talent! KANSAS USA
A cutter construction that Evan “This old Tony” would appreciate! 😁
I love it that you are making a blade again. I do miss the old one episode blades that you use to make.
Thank you Jamie for acknowledging the blade was made out of a tooth 👍🏼🔥
Very entertaining! Much love from Australia cheers
Loving every bit of this build, bring on part 3!
Loving the soundtrack!
I'm trying do develop a forging style with minimal grinding, so my knives and other finished projects look hand forged, with black scale and and hammer marks, rather than looking industrially manufactured. I hope I can get some buyers on board with that artistic choice
Wow that's crazy beautiful. It's coming along nicely so far. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Forge lit. Keep Making. God bless.
I’m a simple man. I see Alec Steele video. I click like.
I just met Andrew Bloomfield and he did a keyhole demonstration at Shadow Mountain Forge. Press fitting the handle into the integral. Good Luck!
I was missing a 50 part series !!
I think making a set of Damascus 1-2-3 blocks would be a great project to test yourself on the mill
10:32 THANK YOU JAMIE!!!!
It's always nice to see you make new tooling for the things you build. I only have one question: have you not thought about a steel bar running through the back of the handle, through the wooden grip and into the bolster area? That would've been much easier to achieve and would be completely invisible, if done right.
I love when u make your own tools to make stuff or repair your machinery
Jamie always makes sense
Speaking of metal dust and chips, you should make a canister Damascus from all your grinding and chips.
I'm sitting here in Norfolk, VA USA, and I need one of those Norfolk t-shirts you're wearing.
Also, I know things are tight, so you should definitely do a Patreon. I would definitely support your work.
Making ones own tools feels like hacking the matrix.
Great vid! A Damascus billhook would be awesome!
Oh I am hyped for this handle
Ooo that sharp corner .. you're summoning the Stress Fracture demons.
Oh Yeah!!! Thanks Alec!!!
I like your dog friend hanging out in the shop! **How do you protect his feet from all the metal shards and scraps?** It seems a bit dangerous for the pup. Thanks!
That Kris dagger keyhole integral handle is my favourite, it’s just so cool with the Damascus and the facets. A full sword with a handle like that would be awesome!
Oh boy, I can't wait to watch this and see what inventive new pronunciation of "crysknife" you come up with
maaannnn, the editing on these video's has popped in the last few,, GG editor ,
Alec: I'll be making a crysknife from Dune!
Also Alec: I don't want it to look like the crysknife from Dune!
9:05 Jamie-“You’re a masochist”
Me-“You could say he’s a Damasochist”
Alec, you are badass. I'm a machinist and banging out dovetail cutter was awesome 👍😎
Anyone else wish he would go back and do it right instead of settling all the time? I was really excited for the feather pattern
I LOVE THAT T-SHIRT!!!
Anyone remember "Blue" Dykem... Alec loved it so much, he used to sing songs about it... 😆... now he only uses red... 🤔
