This man is a reponsible and caring corporate figure. More organization leaders must step up the game and emulate after this icon. Especially in trying economic times where the rakyat are struggling to put food on the table.
Houses are getting smaller, fridges and food storage are limited, all must be on a needed basis and no more keeping inventory for a month which our parents did before. Sooner or later convenience stores will be more practical. Buy on a need basis and consume all every single day.
Great interview! Throughly enjoyed listening right through to the end. The only points I have to comment on are that : a) I and 90% of my friends above 40 HATE the self check out counters. We seriously would rather drive another 20 min to another grocery outlet which may not be that cheap, and happily pay for a manned counter check out. b) What is the Govt doing about the cartels? Where's the whip? c) OEMs are the way to go. d) the grocery hypermarket convenient stores is endless opportunities. Staff in every industry is facing shortages. But robots and AI are just around the corner.
As someone that is introvert and under 40, I love the self checkout counter. I always go to the self checkout counter if there is the option. I wish more supermarket install more of this self checkout counter 😀

Foreign supermarkets owners are hampered by discrimination by the gomen. Cannot open small shops, must have 30% local shareholding etc. That is why many left. Carrefour, giant all i feel left because of excessive demand of local shareholders who orobably got free shares but asked too much.

Frankly speaking government have to control the price for foods in restaurants, Kopitiam, mamak, everything about foods. I notice that now the most making money is these all restaurants seller who selling foods. Even the price inflation but these all food seller purchase their resources in bundle. They are not gonna make any loss profit. Now the kopitiam price has increased from RM5-6 before covid Rm 8-10. This is totally unacceptable and ppl are dying cos of these restaurants seller increase their price so high 50% increase. The wages in Msia still very low and isn’t comparable at all. So governments please get control the price for the foods!
What and who is Mydin Mall? It's business is based on Islamic principles. That's what Mydin says. I had two bad experiences with Mydin as a Hindu. When I went to buy chicken, beef was sold beside and the same tongs were used for both, as I saw the worker doing it. When I asked the supervisor about it, he arrogantly told me to shop elsewhere. My second bad experience was when I wanted to rent a booth for my products for a week ( this was when they newly opened ), which I applied online. No response for more than a week. I called the management, they arrogantly said they only rent for a minimum of one month. Today they have call centres calling to offer their booths for rent. Even 1 week is available. I told them off. Not interested. I stopped shopping there. Mydin is doing badly. Go look at their carparks. More than 60% is empty.
