NC MX5 Engine Removal **DETAILED **

In this video, I go into every detail I could think of when removing the engine out of an NC MX5 from the bottom. I also show you the tools needed and the mistakes I made along the way. I hope this video helps people and prevents some frustration by learning from my mistakes.

If you are speaking about the hook that bolts to the head of the engine, then it’s a 13mm if I remember correctly.

Hey great video. I'm happy you posted it because I'm about to start helping a buddy pull the engine from his 2011 NC. To be honest, this seems like more parts to take off than from the top, thus more sources of error down the road? Not sure. Not my call anyway, I'll help from the top or from the bottom, but I think although from the top it requires some more finesse to wiggle it out, it seems that more parts stay in place. We'll see. Thanks anyhow, great video.

Glad you liked it! One great thing about doing it this way is that you can literally have everything hooked up prior to reinstalling. You aren’t limited by tight spaces when hooking of hard to reach wires.

My 1.8l 2006 nc just developed rod knock so im tryina fix it myself, do you know of any differences between removing the 1.8 compared to the 2.0? Great vid also 🔥🔥

This is my first mx5 so I’m not entirely sure. I would imagine you would need a 2.0 oil pan, intake, and engine harness at least.

@@earl8590 yes, you have to undo the shift knob and then remove the center console
