-lirik- A gardener told me some plants move But I could not believe it Till me and Hannah Hunt Saw crawling vines and weeping willows As we made our way from Providence to Phoenix A man of faith said Hidden eyes could see what I was thinking I just smiled and told him That was only true of Hannah And we glided on through Waverley and Lincoln Our days were long our nights no longer Count the seconds, watching hours Though we live on the US dollar You and me, we got our own sense of time In Santa Barbara, Hannah cried Amidst those freezing beaches And I walked into town To buy some kindling for the fire Hannah tore the New York Times up into pieces If I can't trust you then damn it Hannah There's no future, there's no answer Though we live on the US dollar You and me, we got our own sense of time If I can't trust you then damn it Hannah There's no future, there's no answer Though we live on the US dollar You and me, we got our own sense of time
+pumpkinsmiles I think it means that they're living in the same time and probably depending on the same things (things they felt brought them together in the first place) but in reality, they are both different people, with their own meaning of life. I guess the song signifies a drifting relationship, even when they felt like soul mates at first.
Not sure if my English skills make me able to get it right, but I thought it means Though they are dependent on money, they measure the life in different things other than money
I think it means, although we have to or are supposed to worry about day-to-day stuff, like jobs, a 9-5 jobs, responsibilities, the two of them live in their own world together where they are happy and ignore all of that stuff.
Ezra's usually pretty solid, guessing he just was having an off day... I have close to the same vocal range and I find this one hard pretty much always, especially the octave jump at the end. Slack, consider yourself cut
+Alex Leaud for the first part he should actually sing "our days were long, our night no longer..." that part. but he sang "if i cant trust u then damn it hannah..." part, which comes later. u get what im trynna say? he probably wasnt focusing and slipped the wrong words and went with it.
Is it me, or are the vocals just a hair out of tune compared to the instrumentals? Its really bugging me, I kinda feel like the song dosent sound as bright as it could because of it, I dont get the same goosebumps as I do when I listen it usually
He can't quite hit the notes in the final chorus, but I bet he could with the right practice. I was thrown off when they sung the wrong lyrics during the first chorus, but such is the way of getting used to something and hearing something different.
I love when he screams "if I can't trust you, then damn it Hannah" always gets me.
Love this band.
Amine Ben Lakhal LOL that is wrong lyric There is none damn it boy

Its the equivalent of arctic monkey's line "but i crumble completely when u cry......" From 505
This is one of the most underrated songs from the vampire weekend. I want to keep it hidden because it's gold. It's a hidden treasure.

I can't get enough of this song. It's a stand out for me.
This is the gold standard of live Hannah Hunt performances. Rostam on the guitar near the end.

A gardener told me some plants move
But I could not believe it
Till me and Hannah Hunt
Saw crawling vines and weeping willows
As we made our way from Providence to Phoenix
A man of faith said
Hidden eyes could see what I was thinking
I just smiled and told him
That was only true of Hannah
And we glided on through Waverley and Lincoln
Our days were long our nights no longer
Count the seconds, watching hours
Though we live on the US dollar
You and me, we got our own sense of time
In Santa Barbara, Hannah cried
Amidst those freezing beaches
And I walked into town
To buy some kindling for the fire
Hannah tore the New York Times up into pieces
If I can't trust you then damn it Hannah
There's no future, there's no answer
Though we live on the US dollar
You and me, we got our own sense of time
If I can't trust you then damn it Hannah
There's no future, there's no answer
Though we live on the US dollar
You and me, we got our own sense of time
Unique pop sound
흙,,,,,,, 나 이거 왜 본방으로 안봤어....?.?.???

Though we live on the "US," dollar you and me we got our own sense of time... meaning though we are together we are growing apart?
+pumpkinsmiles I think it means that they're living in the same time and probably depending on the same things (things they felt brought them together in the first place) but in reality, they are both different people, with their own meaning of life. Not sure if my English skills make me able to get it right, but I thought it means Though they are dependent on money, they measure the life in different things other than money
They mean that time is money. Also sense of time sounds similar to ‘cents’ of time, meaning they have little to no time.
I think it means, although we have to or are supposed to worry about day-to-day stuff, like jobs, a 9-5 jobs, responsibilities, the two of them live in their own world together where they are happy and ignore all of that stuff.
high school memories are flooding me :\
If you like Vampire Weekend, check out TED DUCHAMP - COKE FLOAT, think you'll like it, cheers!:)
Damnit Hannahhhh
한국에왔었던건가... 무조건갔을텐데 ㅜㅜ 이런 좋은 아티스트가 있다는 걸 너무늦게알았어
😭 they were just getting into a perfect jam and crashed it! Poetic
For Indi-Bands, EBS Space is the M Countdown for them.
full set?

Bro, it's fine. I love you. You tried. God bless you all is forgiveness.
Ezra's usually pretty solid, guessing he just was having an off day... I have close to the same vocal range and I find this one hard pretty much always, especially the octave jump at the end. Slack, consider yourself cut
Rostam might regret leaving, judging from the shit he's making as a solo act.
agree
진짜 안믿겨 공감에 나와서 공연을 한거야??세상에 귀하도다
"Vanlire weekend"
Who is here because the band I'm with her?
did ezra made a mistake or did it on purpose?
+deez135 nuatz At what part?
+Alex Leaud for the first part he should actually sing "our days were long, our night no longer..." that part. but he sang "if i cant trust u then damn it hannah..." part, which comes later. u get what im trynna say? he probably wasnt focusing and slipped the wrong words and went with it.
+deez135 nuatz shit happens haha
lol i noticed that too. Probably too hyped to sing that part
Is it me, or are the vocals just a hair out of tune compared to the instrumentals? Its really bugging me, I kinda feel like the song dosent sound as bright as it could because of it, I dont get the same goosebumps as I do when I listen it usually

The vocals are indeed out of tune and a bit forced
Not the best live version of this awesome song. Maybe Ezra didnt warm up his voice enough cause his singing doesnt sound that good.
GDjesusOfsuburbia it's also a very difficult song to sing cuz the vocals are the highlight here with minimum instruments
yeah he was flat i a lot of parts
That performance sounds terrible... Sadly as this song is golden
Ezra never had a good live performance of this song esp the bridge. He always falls flat.
Omg im sorry but its terrible honney
Aah thats audiotune
Bass is out of tune ...gringe
