At some point it will decay to beyond the beginning of the movie. It will begin decaying reality until the entire history of the universe is gone. Destroy that disc now!
Consumers would be more likely to spend more money, either from buying the same disposable discs over and over, or deciding to get the regular DVD version if they like the movie well enough
Yup, that didn't turn out well since consumers decided they didn't want to keep buying discs over and over again, and they also didn't want to make the landfill problem worse.
the idea was: for the same cost as renting, you see the film without having to return to the video shop and, no risk of late fees. a big backfire was, you realized they could just make a really low cost DVD without a self destruct mechanism, and, it made people bitter towards the media companies, not like super bitter, but, it added to cynicism. it was part of this strange revival in the mid 00s of 70s style conspicuous waste. Like a cultural rebellion to the environmental consciousness of the 90s. this was when: people were getting giant SUVs and trucks, and, they would have those truck nuts, this was despite gas prices being at an all time high. Styrofoam was starting to come back, and, other little things. The disposable DVDs kind of fit into the whole scene. Learning from archive that, they were treated with a corrosive chemical that probably hindered the recovery of the steel and plastic if anyone bothered to recycle them makes it feel all the more galling.
Unfortunately you've said the forbidden D word and didn't censor it out. Too late to fake it now. :P And nearly 3 years later, they didn't hunt you down for saying their name. ...Why bother censoring the company's name again? Fear of God? However, I don't wish any form of ill fate, oh no. I'm just pointing an oversight in the beginning portion of the video. X3
Of course, this now requires to be an annual "Zombie Disc Test" event video. :)

I know that this clip is about Flexplay, but I recently saw a man wearing a DIVX polo, and laughed, thinking about the previous episode about it.
I enjoy the face it freezes on way too much.
That face needs a caption
I remember seeing those Flexplay DVD's being sold off at the mom & pop dollar stores in East Texas about a decade ago. Glad I never bought them.
Is that the face that greets new arrivals to purgatory?
I could never understand why they thought that disposable DVDs were a good thing.

Yeah, which is ironic since they touted them as "disposable"

"We get 90% of the fuel."
For all eternity.
Are those D&D books and boxed sets on the left of your TV?
And, on a closer view, no. They are not. Never mind!

Since when did standalone bluray players have the Xmedia Bar like a PSX/PSP/PS3?
Must be a Sony - my Sony Blu-ray player has the same interface.
Sony Blu-ray players have them. In fact, I own a Sony Blu-ray player myself.
UltimateOverlord T.Y. Netees Same here.
Tbh, your lucky that disk will even play at all.
I have the same Blu-Ray player.
Likewise - I've had it for 8 1/2 years. It doesn't get much use these days, but it still works really well.
