This is do awesome. I am Mexican married to a Dominican and I call my mother in law for some recipes. I'm do glad I found your channel. Super simple and clear to understand. Thank you.
Wow I haven’t searched a Moro recipe on UA-cam in over a year. I don’t know what made me search one today but I’m glad you have this channel! It is great to see latinas our age still cooking traditionally! Thank you for the detailed rice to water ratio recipe. I get too many different opinions from my mom and tias about that. Lol
@@Chefzeecooks No it's not clear, she left out how long to cover it, how much rice to add....i don't see that written anywhere and she does not say one cup of this one cup of that she just puts it in the pot...
Made this rice and brought me back childhood memories!!! My mom’s best friend is Dominican and she would always have a huge pot of this rice and arroz moro con masitas de puerco!! Ufff so good with some plátanos!! Yesss!!!
Im from Canada my parents are from Chile my husband is Dominican thank you for this recipe in my vows I actually promised him to learn to cook Dominican food this is the perfect way to learn surprising him tomorrow 🤍 I have all the ingredients 😍🇩🇴❤️
It’s also a favorite Puerto Rican dish. I grew up in Queens eating this from my PR mom. I made it yesterday with canned kidney beans. After done, I ate a small bowl full acabaito del hacer. Delisioso!
I made this tonight! It was soooooo good! I moved from NY to Los Angeles and there are NO "Spanish Restaurants" - no Dominican food, no Puerto Rican food that I can find...I missed it so much! I looked at a few recipes and the comments this video made me go with yours instead of the other ones! I made the right choice! I made it for my mom and myself and when we tasted it we both yelled "this is IT!!!!" lol! I've even gone to "Spanish" restaurants in NY that were sometimes hit or miss with the rice but this was definitely a hit! I remember I had a Dominican roommate in New York who made moro all the time and she promised to teach me and never got around to it, but thanks to you I don't need her! HAHAHA THANKS GIRL! I also made your Dominican style fried chicken to go with it and it was delish! I would have never thought to fry chicken with lime and vinegar but it was delish! - Can you make a video for moro with black beans? There was one they called "black rice" that I really liked as well. THANKS AGAIN!
You are so welcome!!!! I'm so happy that both you and your mom liked the recipe! Means the world!!! I have a recipe on my channel for Congri aka Moro Negro. It's the one with the black beans 😊 I'm half Cuban hence why I call Congri 😋

I am Dominican and I almost passed you by when I read your name my first time seeing you now, thought you were Asian with the name Chef Zee, LOL Do you have a first name or is that a nickname, :) Thank you so much! for your recipes, your channel is the only one with measurements, gracias a Dios!!! lol Being raised in the states, I don't like it when the older family members are showing me "just add un chin chin" doesn't work for me, if you know what I mean, :))) Just LOVE IT, Congrats and keep it up, Just subscribed!
I know exactly what you mean!!! That's part of the reason why I started my channel. So many of us learned by adding "un chin chin" lol and after 32987423947 of messing up the dish you're like, "so how much exactly is un chin chin?" Lol And Zee is my nickname because so many people butcher my real name. My first name is Xenia. The X makes an S sound. Almost like Jesenia except there's no Je in my name lol. Welcome to the family!
@@Chefzeecooks exactly!!! LOL. Now, that makes perfect sense with Zee to me...bc to all my family my name has always been Vee, they think for some crazy reason Virginia is too long, :( ... so we must belong to the *EE club! Ty!
Hi, just wanna say this is the best recipe. I've been making it for 2 yrs now, I love it. Thank you so much. I just have 1 question. At 2:12 you say "once the water starts to boil, we are going to add our white rice" but its been on Medium Flame the whole time, so it won't come to a boil. In that case, right after we add the water, should we put it up to a High Flame until it starts to boil, then add the rice, then, bring it down to medium flame again with the rice in so that it simmers until the water dries out? or leave it boiling at High Flame until the water dries out? Do you understand what I'm trying to say? It may sound a little mixed up hahaha. Anyways thanks, I am going to do the first question that I asked, actually doing it in this very moment haha. Amazing recipe, thank you !!! Saludos de Costa Rica
Well, my electric stove cant even get the whole pot it to a boil in time so b the time it started to fully boil (instead of just the middle), it's almost dried out to what yours looks like lol.. still gonna come out AMAZING
Hey i live in DR, what sopita do you recomend me getting over here? And can i get the sazon con achillote here? Can you tell me a brand? And thanks a lot for these videos, really appreciate it! Also subscribed!
+thegoldenboy294 thanks for watching! I personally love tge Knorr sopitas but if I can't find it then I also use Maggi sopita. And you can definitely get Sazon con Achiote here. The most popular brand is the Goya one. It's easy to find anywhere. I also like the Sazon con Azafran (Saffron) when Im making yellow rice or Moro. I hope this helps!
Ok i apparently was doing it wrong for my kids so now i am going to try again thanks my kids go to a spanish daycare they love it but idk how to cook it i tried and was close but not quite so i will try again now that i see thanks

Hi where did you get your pot from ?
When u cover the habichuelas with the rice is the flame has to be high heat or medium
When you cover it with the rice and the water has dried out you want to change to LOW. This way the rice will steam and not burn. I hope this helps!c
Can I make this but with black beans ?
