Stefanie Speidel, Professor of Translational Surgical Oncology at the National Center for Tumor Diseases Dresden (NCT/UCC), is performing robot-assisted surgeries, thereby effectively blending the fields of medicine and computer science in her research. Intelligent assistance systems are designed to help surgeons perform minimally invasive procedures safely and efficiently, and to warn them of potential complications. Prof. Speidel is one of the eight dedicated scientists featured in the film “Bright Minds. Excellent Research,” which provides insights into cutting-edge research at TU Dresden. In the video, she tells us what Dresden spirit means to her.
