  • Bower Cave, perhaps most accurately described as a grotto, located along the John Muir Highway has been well-known to Indians for hundreds of years. People of the Me-Wuk culture called it "Oo-tin" or Home of the Evening Star. Come along with us and explore it.

    thanks for your sharing🎉I read John muir'book recently .In this book,the bower cave was such a beautiful place where the sunshine can get in and a small lake is lying with maple trees surrounding.So I seach it online but I only find this video😢 And it doesn't look like what I am imaging😂

    My Miwok Grandmother attended events here in the 1920s. I was down there once. It's pronounced Oo-soom-ah-tee. not Yo-sem-it-tee.
