Only way to do it🔥 I wish more people in Washington would try bobber and egg and stop flossing. Nothing more exciting than a fish that you know hammered your presentation!
Here out west in Washington state, we got no rain and all the rivers are dry still. Seasons are shut down and fish are super stressed. Kinda sad I didn't get to drain bobbers on any kings in the rivers this year.
Nice work! Mustad Kingfisher 4x size 6 for the jerk bait hook replacement. You won't bend em, but you'll never break a lure free from a snag either :) happy fishing!
Yuh yuh! Great trip! I finally got my King this summer while on vacation to Ludington. Every time I watch your videos I kick myself for not trout and salmon fishing my first 21 years of life growing up in west Michigan.
We used to have days like this on the west coast until the Sierra club, stihl head, and others started messing with our fish management and hatcheries. Great video 👍
You should get a look at the Kings in Washington State. Make those look like boot leather. THOSE are lake Michigan fish right? I think they turn a lot faster than our fish. Our fish from salt waterstay chrome for about a good month and a half longer.
How far up will a salmon or steelhead come up to get a spawn bag under a bobber? I was always told you need to be within a few inches or practically bounce it off them, but that seems difficult. Especially if you are on new water because hole & run depth can change so much within the hole.
Really depends on the time of year. In the fall your steelhead will be more willing to swim farther for a bait, I generally like to start shallower and work my way down. 95% of the time those fish will be sitting within a foot of bottom unless they’re hiding under shelter like a log jam etc
By far one of my favorite videos I live out here in oregon and I love some wild king action 🤘🎣 what lure were you running when that one hit in the beginning may have to try that out here!! Killer vid brutha!!
… the only thing that stopped you is you then lol. I have seen plenty of 12 year olds with waders slaying salmon and steelhead alone so it’s simply a commitment issue
@@Chiefz I forgot bro I learned year's ago on the southern MI piers don't throw that old skein away. It is fire for coho's and whitefish off the piers I've been doing it for year's. The older and more smelly the better. I personally let some of my salmon skein turn brown and nasty then vacuum seal it. Just for pier fishing in the spring. It out produces fresh skein hand's down.
@@Chiefz I didn't believe it either until I started doing it. Those old boys that showed me knew how to play the game for sure. February and March are the best months. Make for a good spring youtube video.😉
Im here and stuck now thanks for getting a thirteen year old addicted, I just bought a centerpin and 1 gallon of fireballs, I'm going out for some big boys
Absolutely sweet bobber down shots! Love this. I know you said don't mention it, but I had to... rod bend... 😮😨 What rod was that anyway? Crazy good video. Keep the videos coming Cheifz!!
Great video. Love the content. What's the rationale for using a spinning rod to drift with a float vs a level wind or centerpin reel? I see a lot of anglers in the U.S do this and i never get why as a controlled drift and line control is far easier with these reels. In Canada, seldom is that setup utilized. Also, what color is the flesh of that king?
I will admit - no reel can match the drift of a center pin. I just like to keep my pin clean and it’s almost impossible when floating those skein chunks all day. That and also having a drag is nice. Getting knuckle busted by medium sized fish all day gets old too haha. The flesh on these fish once they hit the river start to get a little off-orangish and a lot of guys prefer to smoke them. Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏼
@@Chiefz Thanks for the reply. What you said makes sense - avoidance of knuckle busting, keeping pin clean etc. That crankbait bite you got on video was unreal. Keep it up!
Thank you for not flossing fish and actually catching them like a boss. Love your videos. True fisherman right here
Couldn’t agree more.
Only way to do it🔥 I wish more people in Washington would try bobber and egg and stop flossing. Nothing more exciting than a fish that you know hammered your presentation!

I’ve seen a lot of UA-cam fishing videos but that king strike on that thunderstick was something else. Wow
I was lucky enough to have met this guy from Valpo, and he envited me last year. I will be making the 2 hour drive from IL every year ! It was epic!

I was expecting a video like this anytime now… especially since I was up *near* the Big M pounding the kings last weekend… can’t wait to see this🔥🔥🔥
Great video! You guys made that look easy. Nice camera work too!
That egg wagon was a tank. Love catching them on hardware. When they grab it feels like you hit a snag.
I’ve never seen one swipe at it the way that one did. Legit one of my favorite moments ever fishing. Wish the camera showed the full grab better
My favorite part of fishing hardware it when they hit it.
Shot with the bobber floating through the hail chunks was dope af!
Was hoping it was going to dunk so bad… haha

Dang dude! The Loch Ness Myth just jumped in your net!!? 👀
Brroooo… like duuude bro. Literally bro like dude… bro. Cool vid, looked fun
dude man bro glad you enjoyed 👍🏼
You earned a sub
Thanks boss
Just curious why you reel with right hand when using spinning rod? And left handed with centerpin
That’s a good question that I don’t know the answer to lol never really thought about it
Maybe it feels more natural to swing cast left to right on my pin. Not sure tho. You got me thinking now lol
🔥🔥🔥 good video 😁🤙
Ahhh!!! Tease!!
Curious what pound test you guys are running on your pins and leader? Awesome video!
Owen was running 15, but I was using 20lb. I usually put the gear in desc fyi.. they won’t be too line shy if they’re fresh fish
