I've had the same 6D cell mag light for over 20 years, would never give it up. Will definitely be getting some of the mods for mine.
I prefer mine stock, like a classic car. Only thing I replaced was the plastic lens for a multi coated glass one to let more light out.

I used to carry a 4-Dcell Maglight when I worked in Law Enforcement. I never knew about extenders for them! Thanks for making this video! I love buying American made!
i have the 6 cell and the 3 cell. 40 years ago, it was the most powerful thing out there. They used to have a large head option. And you could get a pachmyr grip for them, so your hand would not buzz if you hit something. Just don't use cheap batteries that go bad and swell up. I do need those bulbs though. Yeah my old 4 cell flashlight Corroded on the inside and I couldn't get the batteries out.
@@StepOneSurvival Thats why you take the batteries out if your not gonna use it for wile. I bought mine back in 1998 and still works like its new.
You almost got yourself a walking stick. The police used to carry those here instead of clubs. They work really good when you hold it over your shoulder, grip it behind the bezel, shine it in someone's face so they can't see and bring the handle down over their head like a hammer 🔨.
Did this to my mag light couple of years ago, best thing I ever did. I've yet to get the glass breaker, but eventually will. I was more concerned of brightening the flashlight. World of difference
Back in the day Maglite was the light to have, I do have the 6 cell - it's next to my bed if I need a weapon.

Ha the good old 6cell maglite brings me back to my security days we all used those as loop holes because we weren't armed on certain job sites.

Ran over my Maglite with a fully loaded truck (75-76 thousands pounds). When I recovered it it only had some scratches and no other damage. Impressive!

I still have my original from the 1980s! Changed out the bulb. Thing is a brick. We keep it strategically placed near the front door and it is nicknamed "The Attitude Adjuster"
I have had that 6D cell in both of my cars starting April 1988.
Has served my well, as long as I caught it before the alkaline batteries leaked.
Just retired it April this year for MORE POWER! (Grunt,Grunt)
Did this several years ago to my 6cell which I originally purchased 20 years ago at Fry's. Carbide striker end cap, Same crown upgrade, 2cell extendo, sapphire lens and Terralux 1000 lumen led upgrade. good to see others doing it, Killer light. Might upgrade to the brighter LED upgrades they have these days, But the terralux has held up well.

When I first joined the Navy they used to make the Airmen carry those on watch lol. We keep a couple up on the homestead, now I want to do some modding.
I have a 4 D cell I am upgrading to LED, great illumination and great baton.
I like to think of Maglite’s as the AR of the flashlight world. Super customizable, and there is a die hard maglite fan base as well as those who hate maglite. Personally I absolutely love them. Any time I need a flashlight, even if I need to go out and get a NEW flashlight, I buy a maglite. Specifically the halogen or xenon because where as LED, if it burns out (and I have had them quit on me because it’s just a circuit board and those can have problems of their own) if a traditional bulb stops working, you can fix your light just by feel. Where as things like O lights or stream lights etc. if they quit, that’s it. It’s done. You have to buy a new one. But untill then your still stuck in the dark with out a working light. But maglites, if they stop working, it can be fixed on the spot.
I know they are not the brightest and eat through batteries compared to LED, but I personally have had LED fail on me, So has my brother and he is a correction officer on night shift when the last thing you want is a light going out. So for me just the reliability of a traditional style maglite is what I value most. If my house was burning and I could only grab a couple of the most important things my 4D cell halogen maglite is one of them. It has so many uses

@@coolbugfacts1234 maglite has finally got off the bench and gotten back into the game with the rest of the flash light companies. They started to make led lights and are once again in the same league as some others. They got classic 4D cell ones that are led and about 1000 lumens, all the way down to pocket sized tactical lights for edc that are 200 lumens. And they sell IR lenses caps for NVG compatibility. Unfortunately they just don’t advertise like they used to so they likely won’t ever be as big as they were simply because people don’t know they are once again a modern option to choose

Good video. I've got a 6d model about 35 years old and have used it underwater a few times and it hasn't leaked yet. Great upgrades. They're tough and worth modifying. Extension is epic!

I’ve done the same mod last year from a 2-D cell to 4-cell with the extension I keep in my car,
with same mod of the LED, Bust-a-cap and Crown bezel. New gorilla glass lense. And it not only works as a weapon for self defense, all around tool but the Maglite I have was my Grandad and Fellow Marine ( 2 tours in Korea- Frozen Chosen ) His old Maglites for over 30yrs have been given New life with these mods. and I modes one for his room I’ve modded a couple of Maglite Mini with same mods. And if you can find it with your long Maglite they have a Rothco side handle attachment like a NightStick style for a full on tactical beast of a weapon.
And I’ll be modding another old Maglite for the truck.
that's a beast of a flashlight, good upgrade to the Maglite, sorry to say I gave my 2 or 3 cell one to goodwill years ago with all these newer LED and Cree lites on the market now
I'm gonna start updating my old ones this stuff is cool.

great video, i had to trash my 6d maglite because i havent used it in years and the batteries corroded and stuck inside so bad i couldnt fix it. i recently just bought another one. glad they still sell them.

My dads got two of these 3 cell Maglites they I will be getting some led bulbs for them later this year.
energiser batteries :) or duracell are two of the heavier batteries, had a 4 d cell maglite on a belt loop got fed up of it hitting my knee,i just stick with the 2 d cell ones now they easier to conceal for those with older bulb mag lites they did an led fitment you can do yourself ,most those addons you shown not available in uk, switch and bulb holder is removed by a hex key down the switch so in the unlikly event of bending it it will part out,the rechargable packs for them are expensive and the rechargable d cell batteries arent heavy enough dont forget to register it for its lifetime guarrantee expensive torch over here lol

Pretty much none. Maglite is only assembled in USA and by illegal aliens and SureFire is over priced. This is not the 50s anymore, no one wants overpriced over regulated low quality union made junk by grifter companies that have done more to harm USA business than China ever did. The USA is ripping itself off in trade.

Nice bro ! I *still* have my Maglite's from over the years ! I remember getting my 6D cell when I was younger & it was the best light around ! Definitely interested in these upgrades. You should find a polished "natural" 2 or 3 D cell so you can make a red,white & blue light ! I have done this before. The hardest colors to find are the "natural" silver ones but they sure come out looking great. Red head, white (natural/silver) body & a blue end cap !! Kinda expensive project but in the end.. you still have 3 functional lights and 2 that can go for the classic Red White Blue !! 'Merica !!!

@@StepOneSurvival Red, White & Blue !! It's funny over the years of upgrading my flashlights & upping my "pocket torch game".. I've always kept my AA & D cell lights. They may be outdated in lumen but I love em nonetheless. Sadly, I don't have any C cell's left. Super stoked I found this upgrade review of yours & they are still available. It's also funny you mentioned the Lucille bat, I've seen an end cap attachment that was milled like the handle of a bat. Very interested in the bezel & extension tube in particular.. the glass breaker would be cool if it had a tungsten tip.

Holy shit that's some piss-poor performance for something so damn big! My Surefire Stiletto Pro is the size of a folding pocket knife, is 3x as bright, has more candela, didn't have to modify it at all, and is still made in America by an American company.
