You're right in saying that. It doesn't make those people right. I agree with many of the things that Ron Paul says, but I know that to other people the things that he wants to change in America are things for example that people are quite reliant on at the minute -- even if they are bankrupt programs. At first, some people might feel uncomfortable. However, from my studies I feel confident in saying that most of his beliefs are the best road to take for freedom and prosperity in this country.
A great teacher, Carolyn Myss made the relevant point for those who think, "But I am only one person, what can I do alone?", that every single one of us is only one person. That is all that we have. It is what we do with what we have that makes the difference. We can look at Ron Paul, and see the difference that he has made standing on Principle and speaking for Truth. We learn, we learn to speak the Truth so that it lifts others up. Others come to understand, and the understanding grows.
It’s beyond unfortunate. We have the Constitution and people will not study/abide by it. We have Dr. Paul speaking the truth... people say he is crazy. We as a society are heading backward instead of forward.
I wonder why your comment of just 4 months ago is underneath comments of 6 or 9 years ago? Weird. Looking back gives enhanced perspective. So many things he was for are emerging now. Not all, but many.
The United States is the seat of government and lands purchased. Lands purchased were suppose to be for "defenCe" purposes. Lands within a state are called State of... There are free, sovereign and independent states created by settlers and inhabitants and they gave SOME lands to the federal government for building forts, forts are for defence (not defense). You have to look at the fact that Ron is great at getting people behind his message. If he had such a huge platform as POTUS he could start properly teaching the American public about these things and the people would stand up to their Congressmen/women. That is Ron's saving grace for making change is that we would know the truth and demand responsibility from GOV. The change will come from bottom-up not from congress.
@Melville10 I heard Bill Maher say once recently that Ron Paul was his new hero. People who speak to the real issues as Paul does will attract the respect of a diverse audience.
perfect union Ron Paul 30 years if telling the truth and upholding our constitution for the people and Judge Napolitano years of upholding and teaching the true meaning of our constitution
Absolutely superb. I was drawn to this channel via the excellent Chapin's Inferno, and have now subscribed. I am English, incidentally, and all of what Ron is saying applies equally to the UK.
I agree with getting the government out of the business of regulating and subsudizing education and healthcare. Ignoring the constitutional argument; the current system is broken. Since the 1960s with President Johnson, the federal government rolled out Medicare, Medicaid, HMO Act and thousands upon thousands of regulations eventually leading to higher costs today. Now the government spends over half of all the health-care dollars in America.
ignoring the government is the right thing to do, Mr. Paul. You're right on - I do this for over 10 years now, giving a frak about their laws and demands.
With the department of education -- since the government has been subsidizing students, the costs of these facilities has rocketed, especially since the late 1990s. More and more is being spent on pupils through the department of education, yet there's no real change in their reading/math/science scores. In fact, since 1965 with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the general rates of education in those areas have not risen much at all.
Ron should be 1 year into his first term as president of the US. What a shame most people will not understand his intellect and vision while he is alive.
Healthcare in the US was renowned throughout the western world back then. A routine operation now can cost as much as a year's pay. So with something like Obamacare, we're essentially fixing government-created problems with more government are we not?
You are right friend tryptala, hispanics are growing in number. Hispanics are mostly Catholic. I know, I am one of them. I belive libertarian hispanics are as few as Anglos. But the message is getting through. I voted for Paul and donated some cash.
Where you have a system where the money seniors put in years ago has been spent on something else and less are paying taxes into Medicare -- With respect I'd hardly call that solvent.
The military also made me a Libertarian. Seeing the corruption of Constitutional principles up close and personal had a profound effect on my belief system
Beforehand (not saying that it was absolutely perfect, mind), there was more of a free-market of healthcare. Many people would group together voluntarily and pitch into a central fund, which would be distributed to those who needed it. Back then, doctors would make house calls. There were charity hospitals. Health insurance has been priced out of the market for young people, and people with special medical problems must rely on government for insurance.

Right now, is the best time for libertarian leaders to relentlessly reach out to high school and college aged kids. The are waking up to their political indoctrination, and want to explore and push against the status quo which has saturated every part of our lives. Yet without exposure to anything but progressivism, which intuitively they do not feel, they will just fall in line.
@erushbass Just because WE'RE not living in a desert doesn't mean that you won't ever be in hard times. Prices are NOTHING more than what You and I agree to exchange voluntarily. A world that rained gold would indeed have cheap gold. Thus gold would never become money. Prepare to be schooled in my Austrian Perspective.
The cause of the current situation is that banks did a poor job of doing what they have always been able to do (making loans and investments), not some new activity made possible by deregulation.
@MarcHerlands government mandates make monopolies. Car insurance comes to mind. Or even the two party system we have...where with out a billion dollars (as an independent) you can't get in the debates. The federal reserve has a monopoly on money via legal tender laws. and so on.
@zombiefitnezz: Major deregulation that has occurred can hardly be blamed. Regulation Q was largely gotten rid of during the Carter years; limiting the amount of interest that can be paid on savings deposits can hardly be blamed. The Riegle-Neal Interstate Banking and Branching Efficiency Act (1994) removed restrictions on interstate banking that made portfolio diversification easier.
> in the telco industry. Not one monopoly exists in the telco industry that isn't a government monopoly. Not even cable TV, where companies contract with local governments to be granted monopolies. AT&T had its government granted monopoly on long distance telephone service repealed, and BOOM prices have dropped and service has improved ever since. Telco is a perfect example to disprove your assertions. Monopolies do not exist without government support.
I can imagine his feeling of satisfaction, seeing his lifework finally paying off and being appreciated as it deserves.

Wish I were there...

Monopolies do not exist without government support.
sad that much of this hasn't changed... our system is more fucked than ever.
Bitcoin had been released into the wild only about a year prior, the most powerful practical force for Austrian economics ever.
I did not ask to quantify, I asked to define.
Is there even any gold period in Fort Knox?
