It's a really cool way to allow you to change your abilities, unlock new ones, and also scale them without having to change what weapon you're using. With a few exceptions.
I think they will. There's a big blank circle next to the weapons in the gameplay we've seen so far just like when no mods are equipped in Ashes. My guess is they haven't shown gameplay of them to keep them as a surprise/avoid confusion of what each class has as a base kit ability.

It worked except for the last boss. We had so many retrys to finish him off. The fact that you pointed out we get a damage bonus killing things in the void zone made me go "well shit arent we stupid for not realizing that." We only killed things there for ammo lol. What kills me is how few casts it took. I could have handled it if it took a few swarms, but no... just the one... It was a lot of fun to work on, when I wasn't losing my mind trying to figure out how this game works.

im glad you figured out to build up damage while in the void, this game is actually really great, and the story is pretty good but its somewhat hard to follow for sure.
I love Remnant. Got so much mileage just rerunning the whole story to unlock everything (before adventures were a thing) and the DLC are amazing. One of my favorite things about the game, other than the weapon mod system, is that a bunch of world bosses (the dragon, Harrow, Ent, etc) mostly have two ways to kill them, each way giving a different reward. Felt very rewarding experimenting to find them and pulling off the trickier ones. Can't wait for Remant 2. Definitely gonna be one of my favorite games this year hopefully.
It was a lot of fun! And I know adventures were added later, but it's hard to imagine the game without them. I think they were a fantastic change. This is true, but the information I could find for them stated that you can only get them by killing the Iskal Queen via a specific method. As far as I'm aware, it requires using a gun. You could... maybe use the skulls?.. I'm not sure, but even surviving her first wave of beetles was brutal. That vs the remote possibility that I _might_ be able to get them didn't seem like a good use of time.

0:05 I believe that every single PC game should ahve an additional option in the main menu- "Test room". This is a room where you get full access to your basic controls. There is one corner with some enemies, and another corner with some FPS chug like a waterfall and some physics objects. You would have access to your settings menu. If you have character customization, then you can find a terminal that lets you change your customization option. Not full customization. Mostly just lettiung you pick the longer hair and see if it clips annoyingly.
It'd be a bit of extra work, and it'd hurt presentation, but I'd welcome something of the sort. I appreciate that some newer games have benchmark test options. Help you to fine tune the performance you're after.
Unless your character is like one of those insect clans in Naruto and has the insects living inside that body or they have infinite bottles of insects somewhere on them, those insects are coming from somewhere. You could almost way they are summoned out of thin air.
I think the only reason the games says they are not is because A) they deal a specific damage type, B) they have a low duration and finally, C) they home in and are basically a DoT. Either way its a bloody summon so the entire run is valid and you mental health and time should never be put into question for a game.
While normally it's really hard to say how long it'll be until I can take on a given challenge, I don't think you'll have to wait all that long for this one.
i would consider the bugs summons because that what they are. you didnt fire your gun summoned a swarm of bugs. they are a summon just not a pet, both still fit into the pool of what you did.
This game's start reminds me A LOT of Hellgate: London. I'd love to see you do a summon/mech-only playthrough of that, but I'm afraid it'd be incredibly dull for most of it.
This is the first I'm hearing of the game, but it honestly sounds really cool. I don't know how confident I am in the more recent Steam port given the reviews. I do love any good excuse to play with summons though.
@@SpuddyCube Yeah, unfortunately it looks like the steam port is pretty bad and no updates are being communicated... Might be more worth it to grab one of the old DVDs if you do want to play it.
I feel like there's a lot of space in between giving away your only endlessly replenishing magic healing supplies and yelling at passers by as they go to talk to somebody else.
Yeah McCabe was so annoying. I started hugging the outside wall just so she wouldn't yell at me for having the audacity to walk past her on my way to see Rigs.
I'm very late to this video and someone may have already answered but the reason they are called "The Root" (other than the tree like appearance) is because reality in these games is like a giant computer system and they are a root kit virus.
I am playing this Game tha past month with my friends and you had more Bugs in your Playthrough than we had together. We even installed a few Mods and still had less Bugs. Unlucky.
i mean, last video was like two weeks ago, and that was kinda tough tho. u can't sleep at night with your mental not damaged by this challenges, are you? love your vids, by the way. They help me sleep at night ^^
Thank you! Glad I can help! The runs really vary. Some are really hard to process. I spent a good several hours just researching how to find things, where to find things, what to look for in rerolled worlds, etc. With the information being what it was, I was mostly just running myself in circles looking for incredibly specific solutions to really strange problems. This particular one definitely lost me some sleep.
I remeber when this game came out, all my buddies got it we played cooped all of twice, then they quit playing when i went and beat the game since we stopped like an area before the end. Not a clue what happens or what we did.
With how the game is structured, it's not too hard to pick back up with the same character. Good prep for the sequel when it comes around. Or not, of course. I had fun with this one, at least.
Something about really tight windows with generally demanding gameplay doesn't seem to pair the best with a lower budget, but I'm really glad that they're doing their best anyway.
My problem is my desire to make something that looks at least humanoid, and the fact that any modifications I ever make from the presets always look... off.
(shoots lock) SpuddyCube "it's not an enemy so it doesn't count if that's a problem for you then that's your problem not mine" Me "yeah stop being a snowflake because he shot a lock"
I've been doing some fiddling with my audio setup to try to make the best of what I have. It's sounding at least fairly clean on my end, but I'll do some more fiddling. Thank you for letting me know!
According to what I could find while researching the run, you can only get them by killing her with the alternate method of shooting the ceiling. I think it _might_ be possible with the skulls, but I was also struggling to survive her first round of beetles. They do a lot of damage...
Damn... You sound so tired man, and in my opinion those bugs count as summons, and man they put alot of work in. Hope you got/get the rest you deserve.
Remnant is one of the only games I ever went out of my way to 100% and the final boss is easily the worst part. its gimmick of being teleported away and every kill giving you a stacking damage buff to actually hurt the boss is the most unexplained trash. cant wait for the sequel tho
Hey man I'm curious as to why you didn't use the 2 summonable turrets. I get they are mechanical but the game does consider them as summons and do a heck of a lot of constant damage in their spawn area.
how was the final boss so easy for you? when i fought it, half the time i it would have an attack wave comming towards me when exiting the warp world thingy. for me it was a matter of doing the fight until i got lucky
I know that the game has gone through a lot of changes. It's possible that they altered the AI so it wouldn't do that. Or at least as frequently. Because that isn't exactly fair to the player(s).
@SpuddyCube it's not that hard once you understand that you only have to kill some enemies when the last boss teleports you to the other dimension , once you do that you deal way more dmg , that's all , that's how the fight os intended to play out , dodge the explosions , go to another dimension, kill some mobs , come back and tear the boss a new ahole , it just takes a little while to understand of it's your first playtrough
I don't believe it was far from my normal summon build. I think if I were to build around it specifically while keeping raw damage in a casual run I would gravitate toward a full Labyrinth set. I would have used the Spirit Stone, Burden of the Follower, and Galenic Charm. Alternatively, you could build around crit, as Swarm can indeed crit. The Radiant set, Braided Thorns, Burden of the Gambler, or Akari War Band. I think I would probably go toward Nightmare Spiral for an amulet, but I think that slot is fairly open. You could theoretically get some more crit from the Polished Whetstone, but only if you're also dealing bleed. You could get a bit more crit out of Hunter's Mark or use the bleed from Skewer/Fan of Knives but that's maybe getting into the weeds a bit for general play. It may be better to put in the time to pick up the Black Rose and swap in a single piece of the Labyrinth set while keeping the full Radiant set bonus. As far as traits... Ideally everything affecting mod damage/mod generation/crit damage/crit chance/elemental damage. This is all a fair bit theoretical, as I'm missing a pretty good amount of the parts involved. I just enjoy theory crafting. Do keep in mind that the damage against Nightmare is a bit disproportional due to the void buff. So while this is generally what I would aim to gather, I can't guarantee how either version would perform.
I find that most games don't allow nearly a wide enough field of view. This one definitely allows a much wider range. I just wish the standard screen could better support peripheral vision.
I thought the iron sentinel was unlocked from the start. If you unlock it in a previous save, was it not? Edit: I also think iron sentinel can crack open the armor of the final boss making it easier for your skulls to do damage I could be wrong though I haven’t tested it
Unfortunately, Iron Sentinel isn't an account item. As much as I appreciate the fact that the Very Good Boy is, it seems odd that the significantly easier to obtain companion is the one you only have to get once.
You make the rules for what a summon is, I am suprised however you didn't try out the turrets, they would have been a better alternative to melee summons for many fights and are quite powerful. (the turret is called Iron Sentinel) Another big factor which is somewhat weird is upgrading, so you never showed your upgrades but i hope you did the 20 weapon 15 armor path, since maxing everything makes the game harder due to bad scaling.
I don't recall exactly the route I took for upgrades, but the scaling is definitely really odd. As for the Iron Sentinel, I'm unaware of any way to receive it without first shooting the Houndmaster. It might be possible to line it up with Beckon, but...
Was this your first playthrough? Edit: yes it was. You really should try playing this game normally for yourself it's actually pretty darn great. And if you will eventually get to it, try out lots of weapons most weapons in this game are good, feel great to use and offer a lot of variety (although to me personally two of my favourites are the hunting rifle you had and the sniper rifle, both of which you get extremely early)
True, but the enemy scaling is also really weird. I had mine at least mostly upgraded, but things sort of scale around you to level out the difficulty curve. Or at least, that's what I've been told. This game is full of strange choices.
I played this game with my friend when it was free on PS+, and whenever i played by myself i couldn't get past the first area because i kept getting lost. I'm pretty sure we never made it past the 1st boss, and if we did, it probably wasn't far
Some of the maps are really confusing, but I think it's worth trying to push through if it should fancy you. There's a lot to love in this weird little game. There's also quite the adjustment period.
Best in terms of general play? I'm not sure. Those skulls were really nice to have. For that boss fight in particular? I can't imagine there being anything more effective than Swarm.
I might at some point down the line, but I honestly wasn't quite sure how it was integrated into the game when doing the run. I think it's a bit too short to revisit for just this ruleset specifically. I wouldn't be opposed to playing the game more casually at some point, but it's a question of free time. It's overall a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed my time with it, even with the more restrictive rules. It does help that I really like using summons. To be entirely fair, this was pretty close to how I'd play the game normally anyway. As for the general polish, the game sort of screams "double A" to me. The controls are just a bit off. The animations aren't quite fluid. Enemy attack patterns, environments, dialogue, etc. The game as a whole comes across as either an incredibly impressive indie game, or one that just didn't quite have enough time/budget to have things come out as clean as something like God of War for instance. Bigger studios have more than enough money to throw at all of their problems until everything is just really smooth. I wouldn't expect that kind of execution from a smaller studio, of course. But to make the obvious comparison, this game just isn't nearly as well executed as something like Dark Souls three. It's clearly full of good ideas and passion that made for a fantastic experience, but it has a lot of flaws that come with making a big idea with less resources. To be absolutely clear, I really like this game, and I'm super excited to see the sequel.
@@SpuddyCube well it's obviously not a "AAA" title and comparing it to those is a bit unfair. I personally think that this game is more than well polished and balanced (better than DS games too)
is it just me or is there some kind of weird sound effect overlayed with all his speech where it's like a deep thrum all the time while he talks? it's rather disorienting, and actually kinda painful, and it's *only* on these vids
Sorry about that. I was only recently notified about it. My headphones aren't really nice enough to pick it up on my end of things. I think I've narrowed down the issue, and I'm working on a solution. I'm really sorry though for the sour experience.
I appreciate that, and I'm really glad to hear it! I also want it to be a more comfortable listening experience though. I'm really hoping that the next video comes out cleaner, while I'm working on getting some new equipment. Audio is such a weird thing to work with.
Spuddy having yet another existential crisis on a final boss.
I'll stop when bosses stop being ridiculous! This obviously has no correlation to the rule sets that I choose!
I'm sorry, but unless those insects were already on your person, and you somehow could telepathically control them, no matter what the game (mechanics) thinks, I'd count your 'emergency measure' as summoning.

If it gets a damage boost to summon buff charms, it counts.
Swarm is a sub summon because everyone thinks it's a ranged spell when it's actually a ranged summon projectile

We can only hope... And... that it doesn't cost them another company to make it happen.
@@SpuddyCube THQ nordic is going strong i believe
Dude! Randomly found your last video on Nioh and subscribed instantly and now I see videos on Remnant, Borderlands and Skyrim? You even mention Shara Ishvalda....
I think I'm in love! No homo though 😂
Made me so fucking happy the you referenced hotbugers
20:47 love the big top burger reference
i have no words to say how it is incredible
We're so close to the release of 2, very exciting.
You have got to do this again in remnant 2 since it’s an actual class now!
While normally it's really hard to say how long it'll be until I can take on a given challenge, I don't think you'll have to wait all that long for this one.
Something worth a note, in this game sprinting is way better than dodging.
i would consider the bugs summons because that what they are. you didnt fire your gun summoned a swarm of bugs. they are a summon just not a pet, both still fit into the pool of what you did.
On my first time playing remnant, i did as a torbjorn from overwatch, just turret and running
If you're going to make any more videos on this game you can use a save manager to check what events are spawned in the world
People are welcoming and help: He complains.
People are distant and reluctant to help:

Come on man lol
I feel like there's a lot of space in between giving away your only endlessly replenishing magic healing supplies and yelling at passers by as they go to talk to somebody else.
@@SpuddyCube lol yeah but like, she's had a bad day... Did you think about that?
Checkmate lol
I also count the insects as a summon so you're all good as far as I'm concerned
Yeah McCabe was so annoying. I started hugging the outside wall just so she wouldn't yell at me for having the audacity to walk past her on my way to see Rigs.
A strategy that I really should have implemented...
My favourite souls like game!
It makes me really excited for the sequel! Hoping it smooths out some edges without sacrificing just how charming this one is.
I'm very late to this video and someone may have already answered but the reason they are called "The Root" (other than the tree like appearance) is because reality in these games is like a giant computer system and they are a root kit virus.
Can't believe the devs don't know how rowing a boat is done
20:46 big top burger reference :D
Love this game so much.
It seems pretty criminally underrated. I rarely hear it brought up, and only ever briefly.
I am playing this Game tha past month with my friends and you had more Bugs in your Playthrough than we had together. We even installed a few Mods and still had less Bugs. Unlucky.
There's something about me touching games that just has a disastrous effect on them.
if only this was a normal run. Beam rifle was hella good with my build lol
Bruh and you got the gambler ring jeez
Ironically, it was some of the best luck I had during the run. That thing stayed on for ages.
i mean, last video was like two weeks ago, and that was kinda tough tho.
u can't sleep at night with your mental not damaged by this challenges, are you?
love your vids, by the way.
Doggo best boy
thats because darksiders 3 and remnant from the ashes share assets for example the soda machines
A souls-like being janky as all hell? More likely than you think.
Something about really tight windows with generally demanding gameplay doesn't seem to pair the best with a lower budget, but I'm really glad that they're doing their best anyway.
20:42 No, you bring lies. You are obviously not being silent, that's for sure.
Man I fucking love Character Creators
My problem is my desire to make something that looks at least humanoid, and the fact that any modifications I ever make from the presets always look... off.
@@SpuddyCube Yeah, it is both a blessing and a curse lol

good video but am having a problem with the audio and all the noices so i recomend you try using a mic muffler if you dont alredy. and good luck
I've been doing some fiddling with my audio setup to try to make the best of what I have. It's sounding at least fairly clean on my end, but I'll do some more fiddling. Thank you for letting me know!
Healing is summoning. You summon health.
Now if only I could summon bullets...
@@SpuddyCube If only bullets appeared out of thin air whenever you shot the gun. 😔 Like a pistol with infinite ammo.
Keep it up 👍
I think your missing a bettle summon you get from besting the queen of iskal. Its a shame you couldn't get the turret😅
1:20 lol
Remnant is one of the only games I ever went out of my way to 100% and the final boss is easily the worst part. its gimmick of being teleported away and every kill giving you a stacking damage buff to actually hurt the boss is the most unexplained trash. cant wait for the sequel tho
Did you try the turret summons? It’s been a while but I remember those doing some beefy damage.
Unfortunately no, due to the method of acquisition. To use it for the run, I'd have to first shoot someone.
Hey man I'm curious as to why you didn't use the 2 summonable turrets. I get they are mechanical but the game does consider them as summons and do a heck of a lot of constant damage in their spawn area.
They absolutely are summons, but I didn't use them for the same reason I didn't use the exploding beetles. You have to use a gun to get them.
how was the final boss so easy for you? when i fought it, half the time i it would have an attack wave comming towards me when exiting the warp world thingy. for me it was a matter of doing the fight until i got lucky
I know that the game has gone through a lot of changes. It's possible that they altered the AI so it wouldn't do that. Or at least as frequently. Because that isn't exactly fair to the player(s).
I'm so mad...beat the game at least three times and never knew I could get a doggo 😡
It sounds like there's a good reason for a fourth go. You can even pet your pup! It gives it a small boost to boot!
IIRC the last boss takes more damage based on how many ads you kill in the spirit realm (red filter while you take damage). That was your mistake.
Summons generally don't benefit from the void buff.
What was the build you used for the swarm if you don't mind me asking. I'm trying to make a good swarm build but can't seem to figure it out.
@@SpuddyCube This is great. You gave me a lot to think about. Also very informative. Thanks so much.
i am overwelmed by your fov jesus christ
I find that most games don't allow nearly a wide enough field of view. This one definitely allows a much wider range. I just wish the standard screen could better support peripheral vision.
Jessie Eisenberg is a gamer? Nice 👍
One day I'll sit down to watch something he's in... Probably.
@@SpuddyCube The voice is uncanny.
(the turret is called Iron Sentinel)
Another big factor which is somewhat weird is upgrading, so you never showed your upgrades but i hope you did the 20 weapon 15 armor path, since maxing everything makes the game harder due to bad scaling.
I don't recall exactly the route I took for upgrades, but the scaling is definitely really odd.
As for the Iron Sentinel, I'm unaware of any way to receive it without first shooting the Houndmaster. It might be possible to line it up with Beckon, but...
The sentry turrets count as a summon
Wtf didn't know you could use summons and didn't know you could pet the dog -_-
Sounds like you've got some new things to play with and a new objective. The pup ain't gonna pet itself.
Fun fact summons scail with your weapon so…..
Were ur gear score hits? Just curious
I don't think I understand the question.
Swarm best skill in the game?
Best in terms of general play? I'm not sure. Those skulls were really nice to have. For that boss fight in particular? I can't imagine there being anything more effective than Swarm.
This is more or less how I beat it so... I'd say so yeah
I really feel sry for U bro
DLC?
Possibly, but I think unlikely. I hadn't really considered it at the time, and it's fairly short compared to the main game.
Turrets...
If you're referring to the summoned turrets, you have to shoot a man in the face to receive them.
Thay ar summons the swarm thay give you support buffs
The answer is yes.
The guy narrating this video talks faster than Ben Shapiro.
What about DLC 😏
I personally think that this game is more than well polished and balanced (better than DS games too)
20:36 my guy skips 99% of the lore and talks shit about the dialogue 😂
Why would you do a challenge on a game you've never played before?
Why would you not?
is it just me or is there some kind of weird sound effect overlayed with all his speech where it's like a deep thrum all the time while he talks? it's rather disorienting, and actually kinda painful, and it's *only* on these vids
Sorry about that. I was only recently notified about it. My headphones aren't really nice enough to pick it up on my end of things. I think I've narrowed down the issue, and I'm working on a solution. I'm really sorry though for the sour experience.
