  • Hello Singderellos
In this video I react to Angelina Jordan singing Bohemian Rhapsody. I analyse in obsessive detail the first singer to finally shut me up while watching hehe. In this video, I am watching this performance for the very first time and I analyse her performance and vocal technique.
Here's a link to the original video!

@@mortenhallangen1933 Normally singers or normal people do that to be better earthed (shoes isolate your feet so the cosmic energy can‘t flow through you and you can‘t behave as a conduit), but as I remember, Angelina recognized early on that there are folks (children?) who can‘t afford shoes and so she decided not to wear them too. I don't know if you've ever been told this but you are extremely talented. When you replicate a note of a singer (be it Dimash, Angelina or someone else), you're practically as good as they are. Your detail descriptions of singing technique are beyond excellent too. Finally, your sense or humor is off the charts. And if you're only ~23, you have an excellent career ahead of you young lady! I predict that people will have reaction videos to your reaction videos....LOL.

Your explanation of why you sing barefoot makes total sense. For Angelina, it's very beautiful as to why she sings barefoot. This is her quote "I do it to give back to all the kids who don’t have shoes, who don’t have parents. It’s not just about being barefoot, it’s about giving back." That statement made me cry. She's amazing.

The first time I saw Angelina Jordan sing this tune I cried in exactly the same spot. It is the perfect audition. The perfect song for the audition. And the perfect singer for the audition. I think it’s one of the most spiritual performances as well because it was heavier than my ability to feel it and deeper than my ability to understand what it was I was hearing but still it’s impact on me was profound. I have seen her sing this tune at least 50 times already and I wish I could loop it and listen to her all day long. Her voice is a tonic for the weary soul.

At age 7, she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent with 'Gloomy Sunday'. One of the judges was overwhelmed as you just were and teared up during the performance. After a standing ovation from everybody, the first judge said she was fantastic and then trying to find more words finally admitted he was at a loss for words. The second judge also said she was fantastic and went on to tell Angelina, "You ARE music!". The overwhelmed judge told Angelina "I believe you were born to sing". The final judge said it is hard to believe that a small child could sing as an adult.

Her amazing songwriting ability, her genius ability to rearrange classic songs to make them new, her unmatched ability to emote lyrics & her immense vocal skills that give you goosebumps & make you cry, all make her the best I've ever seen. This performance of BR was taped in Oct 2019, when she was 13. She is 15 now & she's even better. She has just released 2 amazing originals, Million Miles & 7th Heaven. I really love them & you should react to them, but to show you how good she is today, she just released her "cover" of Adele's, All I Ask. It's a song I'm sure you know & it's by a living legend. That is to me what makes her so special. I realize that her vocals are stunning, but the ability to create these arrangements at this young age really, to me, sets her apart from any other child singers. She is a musician who's instrument is her voice, not a singer... mind blowing... FYI "Queen" gave this their stamp of approval, they also where blown away.

How wonderful that you could analyse so thoroughly and still kept your eyes and ears and heart open for the beauty and emotion she can bring. This performance meant a lot to her, because of personal reasons. Being sad that her grandfather couldn't be there, since he recently died! Maybe that did something extra. So many people get emotional by this performance. There were some people in the audience who later said that they were completely mesmerized by her voice! In just 2 minutes!

Some of us were mesmerized in the first 2 SECONDS lol -- if someone can give you chills & goosebumps as soon as they start singing... just sayin' :-) She is a world class artist heads & shoulders above everyone else on the show that season. Not sure how she didn't win, but that is ok because being on that show got her so much more exposure for her career. Most people hadn't watched all of her performances from when she was 7 & 8 and won Norway's got talent singing Jazz songs like an experienced woman. Most had never heard of her before or knew about her singing career because in the USA, we self centerdly, tend to only focus on the USA, & it is very hard for people from other countries to "break into" the USA consciousness. (A few examples would be Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, Daneliya Tuleshova, Morissette Amon, So Hyang, KZ, Katrina Velarde, etc.) Also being on that show opened her eyes to how 'the music business' works & how she should stay independent for as long as possible so that way she can be free to be herself & sing whatever she wants, whenever she wants, wherever she wants, & however she wants. Her dream was to sing for Simon & she is now that much the wiser for it. Thankfully, it appears she came out of it unscathed. Thank goodness. :-)

Angelina Jordan is a name you will be hearing a lot in the coming years ...but you probably already figured that out from just this 2.5 minute performance alone. This performance is just one very small sample of the vocal genius Angelina brings to the table. She has been delivering pro level vocals since she was 7 years old, and she is going to give you high level techniques to analyze with every single thing you hear from her. I hope to see you check out lots more of her stuff!
And as always for anyone new to Angelina, here is a little bio so that you can learn a little more about her background and her kind and caring soul.......
    *Angelina Jordan*
    - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 15
    - She began singing at the age of one and a half
    - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos.
    - *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help.
Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.
    - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old.
    - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
    - When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need.
    - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney.
    - Angelina has covered more than 130 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
    - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent.
    - Angelina has written four of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield", "Oslo", and "Million Miles" (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a beautiful world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.
    - Updates: On Aug 26, 2020 Angelina's Manager/Uncle announced in an interview that they have decided on Republic Records as the best fit for Angelina and she is now signed with them as their "highest priority new artist".
On Nov 6 she released her first single under Republic... "Million Miles"!
On March 19 2021 Angelina released her latest single "7th Heaven"
She has done so much already, but at 15 she is just getting started!!!

If there were to be a book I would not want it to cater to the voyeur in people, but I want to know where this amazing musical artist came from especially as time blurs the details there should be an objective history for people who join the Angelina journey.

Wonderful reaction. It's so refreshing to see a reaction that is both very nerdy and very heartfelt. You should know that you have only heard about 10% of her vocal ability in this one song. She has colors and textures that just keep surprising. Her range, while not spectacular, is pretty good, and is entirely accessible to her. She just seems to know what each song needs to be fully realized, while never over doing anything. She belts when it works best for the story telling, not just to show off. she has performed in many genres, such as soul, jazz, pop, blues, disco, edm, classical, gospel and country. A couple suggestions would be "Cheek to Cheek," "I'd Rather Go Blind," "Song For A" (written for her) and her rehearsal video of "Fly Me to The Moon" sung at Quincy Jones 85th birthday concert.

Angelina has a unique talent to not just sing, but pluck at the heart strings, to access maybe parts of our feelings that intellectual analysis can keep... disguised, covered... Angelina just gently pulls that cover back and speaks, oh, so gently, to your soul... to your inner self.... There is no one else who has that capacity... She brings unbidden tears to me too... and I'm 69....

Then I went back and started at her relative beginning when she went into the studio and sang at 6 years old! She is amazing and soooo gifted and was at a very early age. Enjoy the ride. I suggest using Rusty Shackleford's list. Thank you so much for sharing this moment. I was touched seeing you get touched. She sings with such great emotion, artistry and power. Your analysis was great. Thank you. As a long time Angelina fan, what I loved was actually what I’ve seen many times before from even vocal coaches like yourself: at some point, technical analysis becomes irrelevant and you just react physically and emotionally to what Angelina can do. All you can do is watch and listen. Oh yeah, crying happens a lot, too.
Since this is your first encounter with Angelina, you don’t realize she is one of the world’s best singers. In my opinion, she is the best I’ve ever heard, and I became very interested in music in the 50’s and 60’s. Her command of so many different genres is incredible, with her jazz and blues work being my favorite. I’d try to tell you how good she is, but that doesn’t work. You just have to watch a few more and be blown away by her talent-at 7 years old, her cover of Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday introduced her to the world. You can start there and move on to the 100+ videos on UA-cam. Her talent and the wide swath of styles she kills (like this Queen classic) is something you’ve never heard before.
