Sorry man but you're playing the main lick at the start wrong. Hopefully this isn't too confusing to read as I didn't really wanna write out actual tab.
First he plays a droning open E
On the G string he does 6, 4
Then on the D string he goes 6, 4, 2
Then on the A string he goes 4, 2, 4
Or you could also play it as:
Droning open E note
G String: 6, 4
D String: 6, 4
A String: 7, 4
E String: 7
And then back to 4 on the A string
