Just so Tyler knows not all South Americans see that word as offensive. Some use it proudly. He did the right thing in changing but don't stress, it's not a completely derogatory term it's just some people might find it offensive.
I appreciate Tyler so much. He sees in the chat that his shirt could offend or hurt someone and he immediately apologized and leaves to take it off. We Stan a king and a gentleman. Thank you Tyler 😊
Hmm i researched this & it’s says it is a derogatory term however, also says it simply translates to “Sudamericano”, which means South American. Some people feel proud being Sudaca & others don’t, allegedly.
@@safiyaandtyler next time, you can try putting the clay on parchment paper! That way, you don't have to cut the bottom, and can just peel it off when it dries, and sand the bottom!
I know Tyler’s about to beat himself up over the shirt thing even though he did exactly what he should have done. Y’all better not criticize, I will throw hands.
@@CheshieD It had a questionably derogatory word for Latin Americans on it. He didn’t know, the chat let him know, he took it off immediately and apologised. The end.
@@czarinamh Agreed, he handled it perfectly appropriately. Glancing at comments, I'm glad to see people seem to realize it was an honest mistake and nobody is making a big deal. I obviously don't know him, but the impression I get is that he'd be the last person on earth to intentionally wear or say something hurtful.
I completely understand not wanting to offend anyone and everyone knows that would never be Tyler’s intention. I hope Tyler doesn’t beat himself up over it, he handled it very well, and there’s definitely no need to dwell or bring it up again. I appreciate the balance between the task at hand and not giving too much power to the chat and letting it consume the decisions and direction the livestream takes. I think it was a great happy medium 😊 y’all were awesome as always 🥰
Please let Carly always read the chat, and don´t read it yourself because it was so much more fun when you concentrated more on your interactions and on the pottery itself. The Chat is to distracting. Maybe you be in the chat for the beginning and the end and on the middle carly tells you some things from the chat. Either way i really like your videos :)
The vibes and fun while doing the craft without worrying about chat the entire time is so much better. The atmosphere and interactions were so much more enjoyable to watch. Good job you 2! And now I go to Amazon to order a mini pottery wheel.
Carly is now like a parent with 2 kids who wants toys and stuff and just play with them. She buys them the toys make sure it works properly, gives them instructions, gives adult supervision, gets second hand embarrassment. All the joy of a parent 🤣
I love how these livestreams are basically giving them the freedom to try all the weird things they would do in main channel videos without the stress of editing.
Tyler is honestly the most genuine soul. He easily could have ignored the comments or could have just said “sorry I don’t know what this means” and left the shirt on, but instead he openly admitted to his accidental fault, genuinely felt bad about it, and quickly changed. We need more people like him. Seriously.
In Tylers defense because of the shirt: When you find a random shirt, I don't think you would expect that something offensive is written on it. Glad the chat pointed it out and Tyler noticed it! And don't worry Tyler. How would you know? So I hope you didn't feel so bad about it. :(
Its also from what ive read in the comments some contries find it offensive and some dont have the same connotation so its most likely it wasent made or bought with the offensive connotation in mind.
Don't worry Tyler about the t-shirt thing, you didn't know! As an Argentinean, I totally understand! Edit: I meant I understand he doesnt know but for argentineans at least that word is very negative
@@ggimoreno maybe not for brazilians because we don't share the same language and the meaning is not clear for you or important but for argentineans at least, it's very negative
I think it’s like any word that has different meanings in different languages or countries. Just like hand gestures. I think we all just need to remember that in a global media internet world we have to forgive and remember that it may not mean what it does to you. “Sudaca is a colloquial term, used as a short way to call people from South American origin mostly in Spain. The term became dark and xenophobic in the '70s and '80s during an era called la Movida Madrileña due to the massive waves of Southamerican immigrants to Spain. Nowadays, all over the world, people feel proud to be called Sudaca, and unfortunately, some others don't.”

Quick tip for giving cats medicine through a syringe: Squeeze around the cats jaw at the corner of the mouth forcing the cats mouth open slightly. Wiggle the syringe behind their canine tooth ( if they gag, don’t be alarmed) And squirt the medicine in. The vet taught me this when I was having trouble giving my two cats their ringworm medicine. Hopefully this will prevent Crusty from spitting in back at you.
remember to aim sideways towards their tongue rather than straight to the back of their throat to prevent inhalation of the medicine! and if its a med that is a large dose (1mL+), do it in 2-3 pushes rather than all at once
I haven’t had to do liquids yet but putting something on their mouths that they like IMMEDIATELY after you give them medicine makes them want to lick their face which makes them have to swallow more which equals less likely to spit at you . When we figured out that trick it made a huge difference .

Breakdown of Basics: For those who would like to try pottery, regular or mini 1. Set yourself up for success and prepare your clay (make sure it's a uniform consistency and doesn't have any air bubbles- usually achieved by wedging the clay which, unlike kneading dough, takes air out and compresses the clay). Make sure you end up with a rounded piece of clay. 2. Clean off any dust/debris from the wheel by wiping it with a damp sponge/towel, but don't leave any standing water (should be tacky but not wet). 3. "Throw" your ball of clay, round side down, onto the wheel. (Ah, yes, THROWing on the wheel, a stroke of naming genius.) The round side should be down so that when it adheres to the wheelhead, there are no air pockets that could later cause the clay to fall off the wheel / make your piece uneven / later leave you with a hole in the bottom of your pot where you don't want one. The bottom should flatten nicely and shouldn't really budge- it should suction on there. If it is super off-center/off-centre, you can hold the clay firmly with one hand and rotate the wheel with the other, pulling the wheel in a direction towards yourself. 4. Decide which direction your wheel will spin and start centring/centering. In western convention, right handed people tend to throw counter clockwise, while lefties throw clockwise- I myself am right handed but throw with the wheel turning clockwise 🤷♀️, so do what feels right/works for you. Seal the edges of your mound so that they are flush with the wheelhead (that way, air and water can't get under it and rip your clay off the wheel later on). Your elbows should be tucked into your hips or thighs as a means for support to achieve a "tripod" like stability- your arms shouldn't be moving/pushed around by the clay, and the same can be said for your fingers if you are doing mini throwing. In centring/centering, there is a technique called “coning up” which is where you push or squeeze your mound of clay from the sides towards the centre/center so that it does literally that, cones up (see what they did there?), and grows taller. You'll want to use water while doing this so that your skin doesn't catch on the clay, but make sure you don't over saturate the clay either, otherwise the clay with lose its structural integrity and start to collapse on itself or even crack. Coning up and down (so not only bringing the clay up, but then also bringing it back down by applying more presure on the top than on the sides, also acts as a way of compressing the clay, getting rid of air bubbles and making the clay a uniform consistency, by realigning the particles in the clay until they slide smoothly across one another (clay particles are like flat plates). Once your clay is centred/centered, you should be able to loosely place or hands and fingers on the clay without the clay pushing them around (aka, they shouldn't move). Your movements should be slower than the wheel is spinning and consistent in speed and presure. 5. Make the hole. Centering/Centring is important for making the hole, because if your clay is off centre/centre, your going to have one side that has more clay than the other, aka "uneven walls”, which also later translates into one side being higher than the other and overall wonky unstableness, which also tends to be fragile. You'll also want to leave enough clay at the bottom of your newly dubbed "vessel", since from here on out it is extremely difficult, an overall hassle, a last ditch effort, near impossible, and not recommended to add clay; 'tis the point of no return. If you put your finger at a slight angle, find the spot where your finger(s) doesn't move with the clay (aka the centre/center), your finger should sink pretty quickly; DON'T MAKE A DONUT (unless your making a lemon juicer or something that requires it). 6. Make your vessel's floor. Once you've gone as deep as you need to (about 2~1cm for regular pottery) you'll want to start shaping the bottom or the "floor" of your pot. Put your finger(s) on the lowest part of inside of your pot and pull towards yourself to widen the floor. Curl your fingers to match the outer shape of your pot (if you were to cut it in half, the surface of the negative space on the inside would match the outer surface's shape). 7. Start pulling up. "Pulling up" is a technique where the clay passes through your hands/fingers in a bit of an S shape, since the outer hand (which starts at the wheelhead) is lower than the inside hand (which starts from the vessel's floor). Your fingers/hands should generally be facing each other, and even supporting one another as you pull up, moving at the same time, with one acting as the stabilizer/support for the wall of your pot, while the other gathers the clay. You want even walls. Remember to be consistent with your movements, move slower than the wheel is moving, and make sure your arms/hands are supported and stable. Most of the clay tends to be at the bottom, but remember that you don't have to pull it all up at once (and doing so is not recommended). As you get to the top, you'll want to loosen your presure slightly, so that you don't make your rim too thin and break it (also because it is also more delicate and less supported than the base of your pot). Compress the rim every so often to make sure it's even and structurally sound- you are stretching the clay afterall. 8. Shape it. Once you are happy with the height of your pot, this is when you can start to have fun and shape it. Of note, height will decrease as the width increases, so be aware of that if you want a relatively tall or wide piece. 9. Experiment, practice, and most importantly, have fun! In the end, having fun and enjoying your time playing and shaping your clay is the most important part, and a lot of the ways in which you achieve centering/centring and pulling up with depend on what feels right to you, so try things out and see what works for you! Happy potting! 😊
@@nadiabishop5650 Glad you thought so! I'm a part-time pottery instructor and am aware that starting out on the wheel can be intimidating, so hopefully this helps those who would like to try. 👍
I love how they say that tiktok is down, so we can hang out with them instead. But I would actually always prefer Safiya and Tyler to tiktok. They are the best people currently on youtube along with Rosanna and Lilly.
just gotta say the streams are always so well-organized and easy to follow but still engaging all the way through. also, definitely some of the most rewatchable live streams I've seen.
We literally named our dogs Reilly and Otto after the O'Reilly Auto Parts theme song (O'REILLY OTTO Parts) and then proceeded to sing the theme song to our dogs. Not sure if it was successful marketing, but it definitely was successful at something.
Tyler you are so sweet. We know that you and Saf are very kind and respectful people and would never intentionally offend anyone. You handled the situation beautifully! 🖤
These last two streams have made me a huge Tyler stan. His stream last week was such a fun idea! I loved it 🥰 And the way he immediately changed once he learned about the shirt being offensive was amazing. We love Tyler 🥰🥰
I adore these two people so much. They are one of the duos who are fun, and they are so respectful and so kind towards everyone and everything. And i love that so much. You two are wonderful and I am so glad that I met you two through UA-cam 😭❤️
Love you guys so much, this pottery idea is so fun!!! Live streams are nearly impossibly hard to host and you guys handle unexpected things so well and are so so entertaining, i love watching you try things and i look forward to these streams every week🤗
Tyler killed it with the second pot though!!! Damn it's pretty and when he raised it, i was shook!!!! And so did Safiya, her sheer skill with that pencil looking tool made me go woah!!!!!
how WHOLESOME is it that tyler went to change his t-shirt when he saw something saying it is a derogatory term? I just started watching the video and was a bit shocked when I saw the word but did not think he was aware of what it meant. The fact that he went and changed is so sweet and significant, specially for us south americans who have been called that numerous times in not so ideal situations...
I think Tyler confused the words “firing” and “throwing.” Throwing is the act of drawing clay up and out on the wheel to make the piece larger, shaped, or to thin the walls.
gosh, Saf’s need to be perfect and Tyler’s chaotic way of throwing reminded me of my middle school art classes. when we worked with clay, we didn’t use wheels, just our hands and various tools. so, i sat across from theses two guys; they were best friends and one was surprisingly very good at sculpting. all of the things he made in art were pretty perfect and he got great grades. the other… he would just dunk pieces of clay into the slip and when using the glaze to color he just mixed some together and threw it on his pieces. he was a great guy, just was a bit too chaotic to channel his creativity energy into his art!!
You guys and ben and Cristine really are the perfect couple friends, newest evidence, both have cats that one partner is allergic too. there are more. I love seeing you guys post again. definitely missed you on your hiatus, you seem happy and glowing. Your content always makes me smile sometimes to have in the background while I do a project so I dont lose my mind in silence. Exactly how we should react when I don't know something has a bad meaning to someone and we are told. make a change awesome good to see.
Do we have access to a franken-polish? Cuz that would be a great glaze for this tiny pottery :) Edit: Dude getting Cristine to decorate the pottery would make an awesome colab Schadenfreude brownie points if its water marble 😂😂😂
So old to these streams but i'm currently binge watching them all and all i can say is the whole time i was watching this episode all i could think of was..omg you two need to play the game master of pottery, it's honestly a super chill game where you make pottery to sell and slowly level up your skills...and honestly it kind of teaches you how to make pottery in the real as a kind of tutorial way.
I got so nervous for them all of the sudden about the shirt. But I could totally understand that he wouldnt know, and he worr it just because of the aesthetics. But they were really professional about it 💕 Really enjoyed this Mini Pottery stream hahaha
From many years experience, you needed to slow the wheel down and take your time to center the clay. Good job trying! A normal size wheel are fairly expensive and it's more difficult to throw air dry clay with it.
You should link the amazon page as well (even if it is US amazon). I saw this video with my mom and now she wants me to find one of those mini pottery wheels. Great stream, as always!
I freaking love every single episode saga of Balto I really really really really love Balto to though and I’m so excited that someone else knows that saga!

This was very well constructed and educational! Thanks!
I don't know Rosanna and Lilly, but I think I'll check them out now!
Their full youtuber names are Rosanna Pansino and Lilly Singh if you want to check them out.
I agree with ro but not lilly
@Scooby Doo I love your username and your comment lol❤
Tyler’s happy dance at the beginning of the stream brightens my day every time. ☀️
just gotta say the streams are always so well-organized and easy to follow but still engaging all the way through. also, definitely some of the most rewatchable live streams I've seen.
We literally named our dogs Reilly and Otto after the O'Reilly Auto Parts theme song (O'REILLY OTTO Parts) and then proceeded to sing the theme song to our dogs. Not sure if it was successful marketing, but it definitely was successful at something.
that is the greatest thing i have ever heard
You need a third dog named “…OW!”
This is the best part of my day 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please tell me you changed the lyrics to
O'Reilly Otto Dogs
Tyler you are so sweet. We know that you and Saf are very kind and respectful people and would never intentionally offend anyone. You handled the situation beautifully! 🖤
I really hope you paint them in a future live, they're so cute :)
These last two streams have made me a huge Tyler stan.
His stream last week was such a fun idea! I loved it 🥰
And the way he immediately changed once he learned about the shirt being offensive was amazing.
We love Tyler 🥰🥰
I got so happy when y’all sang the O’Reilly’s jingle - my boyfriend and I named our new puppy O’Reilly so we can sing the jingle to call him 😂😂
I adore these two people so much. They are one of the duos who are fun, and they are so respectful and so kind towards everyone and everything. And i love that so much. You two are wonderful and I am so glad that I met you two through UA-cam 😭❤️
I really hope this wheel isn’t too loud for you guys
**whisper quiet**
As a potter, groaning and chuckling at Safiya "No no no, that is not centered/centred!!!" (giving both options as a confuzzled Canadian English major)
I love watching these two. They are so adorable and genuine.
Love you guys so much, this pottery idea is so fun!!! Live streams are nearly impossibly hard to host and you guys handle unexpected things so well and are so so entertaining, i love watching you try things and i look forward to these streams every week🤗
OG fans needing no explanation for that mug. 😂🥰
Literally two of the nicest people I've ever seen. ❤
Safiya’s shirt gives Jackson Pollock vibes
Love how much Saf is just restraining herself to let Tyler have fun. I feel this so much because I do the same thing with my husband all the time
Tyler killed it with the second pot though!!!
That was such a gentleman move, Tyler. Truly why I love you guys so much
Thank you Tyler for reading my comment about meeting you two in Vegas at Paris Casino 😍😍😍
I think Tyler confused the words “firing” and “throwing.” Throwing is the act of drawing clay up and out on the wheel to make the piece larger, shaped, or to thin the walls.
I use the "Butthole" lip thing as if it's an official makeup term that everyone understands and it greatly confuses people
lol i said it to my mom in passing and she understood what i meant even though she doesnt watch saf. i think its kinda self explanatory... i hope
the chat partying while safiya left the chat on the floor was hilarious!
I don’t typically like or dislike any videos, but I HAD TO when Saf asked for it. The look on her face. I loved it LoL. Priceless.
A lipstick mug for a RIGHT HANDED person . It wouldn’t work for this lefty! 🤣🤣
Lipstick on both sides so coffee with friends lol
All the best mugs don't work for us. I have a "no righties allowed" mug with a hole in it that will spill the drink if used right-handed.
@@kiliesmom-kidgrewup drink it through the hole! i’m left handed but i drink with my right hand sp
You can hold a mug with your non dominant hand
When saf brought out the string the first thought that I got was the ghost ship scene and yeah me too Tyler I'm also kinda creeped out by such things
gosh, Saf’s need to be perfect and Tyler’s chaotic way of throwing reminded me of my middle school art classes. when we worked with clay, we didn’t use wheels, just our hands and various tools. so, i sat across from theses two guys; they were best friends and one was surprisingly very good at sculpting. all of the things he made in art were pretty perfect and he got great grades. the other… he would just dunk pieces of clay into the slip and when using the glaze to color he just mixed some together and threw it on his pieces. he was a great guy, just was a bit too chaotic to channel his creativity energy into his art!!
Must protect tyler at all costs
You guys and ben and Cristine really are the perfect couple friends, newest evidence, both have cats that one partner is allergic too. there are more. I love seeing you guys post again. definitely missed you on your hiatus, you seem happy and glowing. Your content always makes me smile sometimes to have in the background while I do a project so I dont lose my mind in silence.
Exactly how we should react when I don't know something has a bad meaning to someone and we are told. make a change awesome good to see.
You handled the shirt situation so well! Thank you!
The whole vibe of this video is amazing. This is one of my favorite streams so far!
PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Release that Mustache Mama Shirt. Its literally to die for! :o
Pottery is hard when it’s regular sized, but this is fun, there’s usually a tray too to keep the mess in with full size machines
No one:
Tyler: is it “schmock”?
We stan.
Do we have access to a franken-polish? Cuz that would be a great glaze for this tiny pottery :)
Edit: Dude getting Cristine to decorate the pottery would make an awesome colab
Schadenfreude brownie points if its water marble 😂😂😂
I haven't watched for a while. Glad I'm back. You two are hilarious!!! Always a fan!!!
I should probably have put in earbuds for this one… because I’m 100% sure my parents are wondering what the hell I’m watching 😬
Now I need a shirt/mug that says "A time was had"
😄
I like when Tyler is the chat master!
I got so nervous for them all of the sudden about the shirt. But I could totally understand that he wouldnt know, and he worr it just because of the aesthetics.
But they were really professional about it 💕
Really enjoyed this Mini Pottery stream hahaha
I love it when you make stuff. It’s so much more fun than the laptop games.
tyler looks so oddly buff in this stream, he crosses his arms and i’m so confused lol
its the slow walking on the treadmill
I legit thought Saf’s tshirt mess was just a galaxy print design
Omg me too!!!!
34:10 I adore this interaction! Such a cute married people moment 💖
Tyler immediately getting the Ghost Ship reference was iconic.
Def need to do full size pottery and decorate the tiny ones! X
From many years experience, you needed to slow the wheel down and take your time to center the clay. Good job trying! A normal size wheel are fairly expensive and it's more difficult to throw air dry clay with it.
Love you guys so much 🖤🖤🖤 thanks for being yourselves
The wire is like a garrote. And I knew Saf was talking about Ghost ship right away too. Love that movie
You're great Tyler. Don't let anyone say otherwise.
I want to see someone use sugar cookie dough on this thing and bake little pots
👏👏👏👏👏 great idea they have to hire you in a really great position as a pastry chef
when it goes faster, it warps the thin walls
generally you want to start out fast and then slow wayy down
Yeeeeees I was watching and trying to do telepathy through the screen to slow it down, also the way they held the wire I wanted to go and help
@@krissyleinen that's a mood
You should link the amazon page as well (even if it is US amazon). I saw this video with my mom and now she wants me to find one of those mini pottery wheels. Great stream, as always!
I want you to listen to this live stream without watching it...... It sounds like your doing some sort of NSFW stream
My (Sorting Hat 🧙♂️) comment being mentioned made my actual life and im not embarrassed about that 😆😁
I freaking love every single episode saga of Balto I really really really really love Balto to though and I’m so excited that someone else knows that saga!
Best shirt of the day yet! Thank you for being sensitive to your chat
