    Thank God.
    I thought I was bad for using lined paper, but I'm glad people actually use it on a budget. I'm just using lined paper until I get the hang of things😊

    I've been searching endlessly for a simple how to for bullet journaling , many videos would state "simple" and end up being more complicated than I expected. Yours is perfect! THANK YOU!

    Thanks for doing this! I've never seen a budget bullet journal video before. I want to get more into bullet journaling but I just can't afford the moleskines and tombow pens. This was super helpful.

    Colored pencils are also a go too, for me. I also like to make my own "sticker like". Things with double sided tape or glue stick and magazine clippings.. just a me thing. Cary on!

    I almost feel like doing this for my second bullet journal. Wish I saw this video before I started! Not that don't like my official bullet journal note book, but I was always a fan of simplicity and saving a dollar when trying something new. Starting a bullet journal for the first time with the Leucttrum notebook is fun regardless but a little intimidating somehow, haha.

    • @caitlinmariedasilva
      @caitlinmariedasilva  7 років тому +23

      +MoonScar I get what you mean about the leuchtturm being intimidating....when I first started, I was scared to draw a simple line because I didn't want to ruin it's beautiful-ness haha

      Michael's also sells a dot grid book in different colors for $5. The paper isn't as thick as the more expensive brands, but they are still decent quality if you are on a budget.

    You could even make your own journal from scratch if you're into that kind of stuff. I work at Office Depot and I was making my first bullet journal. I bought a packet of grid paper for 4 bucks, a packet of card stock to separate the months for 10 bucks and I bound it all together with a spiral for 3 bucks. I had crayola markers and some pens at home ready to use! It was super fun to do the only thing that bugs me is the paper quality, I could've spent a little more on the paper (the paper I bought bleeds quite a bit) but it serves its purpose. Next time I'll probably spend a bit more on the paper itself now that I see it's important to me.

Thank you for these tips and also the visual of a monthly habit tracker. I don't know if other youtubers I watch do it weekly or if they just make them so fancy it confuses me. Bravo! Just as the Ryder Carroll encourages - any notebook/pen will work & customize it so it works for you. Best BuJo vid I've seen in a long time! I'll have to check out the Crayola markers. I'm currently using a set of four "Sanford Accent Dry Pencils" which were designed for highlighting in Bibles, thus no bleed-through. Very happy with them but I've had them forever and eventually they'll dry out...maybe...but the Crayolas look similar, just a bit wider.

Something inexpensive that I use for my bullet journal is washi tape! sometimes I go to places like Office Depot or Michaels and I find washi tape anywhere from $.50 to $2.00. What I've done to help save money on journaling is by making my own notebooks/journals (usually they're Field Notes style notebooks if I just want to keep it simple and easy). Definitely recommend checking out Sea Lemon's videos about making them! There are some great videos from her on making some easy saddle-stitched/stapled notebooks or ways to make notebooks out of supplies at DollarTree.

    I like using Sharpie pens, a pack of two is about the same price (if a little cheaper) and it writes super smooth, looks like one of the super fancy expensive korean pens on paper, but easier and cheaper to get. Also, they make those pens in a ton of colors so they're great for bullet journaling :) I love your videos and they help me figure out my best layout for journaling and you're super sweet and easy to watch (unlike some other pretty obnoxious youtubers...) so thanks!! Is there any line variation? And is it more marker like or pen like? I borrowed a metallic grip expensive sharpie pen and I really liked the variation and the marker likeness, but I'm wondering if the art pens are similar. Sorry for bothering you.

    • @emmanewson4364
      @emmanewson4364 7 років тому +1

      No bother! It's a really interesting combination of pen and marker. It writes and feels like a pen when you hold/use it, but it looks very Sharpie-y on the paper without the bleeding ink. The color is VERY black and doesn't smear like ball point pen ink usually does and again no bleeding or indent on the page. The art ones are the same type and writing feel as the metal ones, but a bit cheaper and obviously a different package/case. I like both, but because of the price and size of the pen itself (I have very small hands!) I like the art pens more.
      I'm very serious about my debating and my debate team, so taking notes quickly and precisely is very important and these pens get the job done!!! Love and highly reccomend.

    $20 is a lot and a little at the same time! The materials arent expensive, but it simply felt like it was because I've seen some of these materials for cheaper! TIP for all those who want more for their $20, buy during back to school time, or look for stores like walgreens or walmart for sales. Your $20 may stretch out even more :-))

    Guys please remember that bullet journaling isn’t for the “looks” and the “aesthetic” it’s for fun and to stay organized you don’t need 100$ products just make it your taste and how you want it to look

    i know this is for lined paper/people on a budget, but on Amazon they sell 8.5 x 11 dot grids for $4.25 (which would most likely round to $4.50, also, its Prime Eligible.), it's just not the name brand leuchtturm or moleskine. I can't attest for the quality as of yet (as in bleeding and amount of potential ghosting, and how well it holds glue and paint and other things), since I haven't purchased it, but I thought it was a nice find and a option for my budget bujo friends! The one I'm linking is black, but the store sells them in lots of colors and paper types, including blank notebooks, which includes a Marble cover option.

    I'm using a lined Five Star notebook for mine right now, but this is the next notebook I will purchase!
    (Edit) Each notebook has about 100-106 pages in it.

    So I do tutoring and stuff along with my journaling. And in the GTA, almost every dollarama I've been to has every single type of crayola supplies. that pack of 10 you have there I picked up for $3. Better yet, I was actually at a Dollar tree today and saw ALL THE SUPPLIES. EVERYTHING (yes even packs of 48 crayola supertip markers) for $1.25!!!!!!! maybe do another video where you raid a dollar store and expose all the hidden gems!
