If you follow KYD each week, you know that we took a short trip to Utah and left the kids, dog and goldfish behind. It was the first trip without the family in 3 years and the first time in 5 years we haven't edited a video. But now we're back from Wimberley TX and sharing some of the fun things to do in the area such as Jobob's Well and Market Days. Then we take the long drive from TX to AZ (back to the KYD Cabin) and have some fun with road trip experiments. We also give a little glimpse of the Subaru Crosstrek that we plan to setup to be flat towed - more to come on that after winter.

Between my aussies hair tumble weeds and her being the shreadmaster 5000 Idk which is worse, after 3 days my house is littered.
My 8 pound Chi-Pappy sheds as much as a big dog! I can't really complain because I have a thyroid issue and my butt length hair is/was everywhere also. That is getting better now though! It's really bad when you shed as much as your dog, but your hair each strand is 3 feet long!~

You guys have helped me and my wife out with our purchase of our new Grand Design Reflection 320 MKS. We just ordered it two days ago and have learned SOOO much about RVing from you. So fun seeing y’all make the trip back to the KYD cabin from the Texas Hill Country. That is the route we took to visit the cabin too! Even our page in the guest book made the cut. 😆 Thank you guys for inspiring this lifestyle. Our family of six (soon to be seven) completely dove into the deep end and have been full timing it since October, and I can honestly say, you all had a HUGE part in us taking the leap to live our daydream.

followed up by a Ford pro-tip, nice work KYD!! That narrow bridge across the Blanco river in Wimberley provides almost as much entertainment as a public boat ramp. We used to float through the culverts before they covered them with those steel bars. Also that area grows a thin layer of super slippery algae sure to humble any unsuspecting quick stepping person.

I completely lost it when Caleb let the clutch out just a ..’little...to fast. I have four children, I taught all of them how to drive and they all learned in a stick shift. I also brought them over to an empty parking lot; and had them do donuts, and slam on brakes over ice patches. They thought it was a blast, I never did tell they were learning how to handle a vehicle on Minnesota roads 🤓

That's awesome that the boys got to learn stick. I got to learn when my truck broke down and needed to borrow a car. Now I buy classic sports cars with manuals. It's a blast, I personally prefer them once I got used to driving manual.

Those special moments when you are new to stick are priceless. Make sure to get footage of the first timing having to stop at a stop light on a steep uphill and give a 1-10 rating on the clutch smell afterwards.

We are full-timer's and have a 2018 Subaru CrossTrek, manual transmission, and have flat towed it for the last 3 years. Our Subaru dealer went all the way up to Subaru Headquarters to confirm that we could flat tow. It has to be the manual transmission and then has no speed limit, and unlimited distance; simply put in neutral, handbrake off, ignition on the first position (to unlock the steering) and you can also shutoff the center (entertainment system) by holding the volume (radio/system on/off) button.

I like handles up so the bolster or heel of the knife ( where the handle flares out) keeps it from sliding down off the magnet. It hits the top of the magnet. I have even put velcro strap across the handles. Great video, very professional.!

The single lane bridge is crossing the Blanco River in Fischer, Texas. It is a favorite destination for fellow Jeepers when the water is flowing over the bridge. Looks like part of the footage is along River Rd. in Wimberley. If you didn't have brisket at Crosscreek Boys BBQ, you missed a great meal. It was nice to see footage of my home area on the channel. Safe travels.
The Ford tip of the week was most excellent!! I just got a new F-350 that we will use for the spring season... so glad I know this now!!
Mark, what we did to charge our house batteries in the TT, was run a pair of 2 gage wire from the truck battery to the trailer using an Anderson connector at the truck to separate the trailer. In the TT we installed a Renogy DC to DC charger. You can purchase this in a 20amp or 40amp config. It works great. When we travel say 5 hours, our batteries are fully charged. FYI we have no solar. Have a great night.

Thanks for the video guys. I usually assume 60 mph while towing with stops. Works out about right. Easy math too. 1 min mile so 437 minutes / 60 = 7.2 hours. I tow around 65 or 70 depending on winds/roads. BTW, My F350 charges at 7amps idle and about 9 - 9.5amps while under way through the 7 way. The blue tooth BMS helps know exactly what it's able to do. Also, I wired up a Victron 40amp dc to dc charger to boost the charging while driving. I did it to run the refrigerator on AC power while towing. I like to keep the gas off.
So I have to tell you, we were sitting here watching your video, and I told our puppy Bella that Charlie was coming on! she jumped up and started looking around everywhere. She faithfully watches Charlie every week. LOL it is adorable! Good show. Lynn and Danny

OK! Finally something I can add . . . a SUBARU! I have a B9 Tribeca (not in production anymore - last of the six (count 'em, 6) cylinder Subarus). I have 291,786 miles on it. This is my third Subaru. ALL of them will go the distance. Secret? Keep up the regular maintenance. They are a great vehicle.

The last time I was at Canyon Lake we we’re tent camping. It had been a rather hot summer day. That evening, just at bed time, a fearsome and violent thunderstorm storm hit. Our tents were blowing over, torrential rain, and light strikes seemed to be getting closer and closer. After some debate, while huddled in the van, we decided to call it and head home. We threw the kids and everything in the van and drove back to San Antonio. It was completely dry at the house! It was a little upset. But safe.
