    Great vid, thanks man. Been pulling that back bench out for years, I didn't know that tip about the child seat plastic guides. That should make it easier next time (Especially putting them back in) 👍🏻

    Bingo! I struggled for 10 minutes before checking UA-cam and you came up #1. Thanks for making this!

    Thanks for the video, going to remove the rear seats of my MK6 this summer.
    I struggle to see how it's possible to bring the car down to 1000kg as some have claimed, when removing the rear seats is only ~30-40kg off the 1321kg curb weight. Perhaps people on forums are overcounting the weight reduction.

    • @AaronTheBaron
      @AaronTheBaron  7 місяців тому +1

      They could be over counting. Maybe they're including the weight of the spare tire, jack and trunk cover(s) also?

      @@AaronTheBaron Could be, I will see how much I can bring it down without using carbon parts.

    I have a 2006 - MKV - it was also the same.
    Sometimes the back bench is a little difficult to wiggle loose, but once those plastic clips are removed, the little side bars are the only thing holding it on.
    So, just keep working it, it'll come off.

      I'm glad to know it was the same! I'll update the title to hopefully help out future searchers! Thanks!

    Hey did you disconnect the battery for this or no?

  • @Roh_Echt
    @Roh_Echt 5 місяців тому +1

    The four plastic clips along the back edge are reversed on yours...I don't know why. All others I've done you push down on the leading edge of those clips, and the two tabs on each clip go toward the rear.

      @AaronTheBaron  5 місяців тому +1

      Oh interesting! Maybe they’re backwards 😂

    • @Roh_Echt
      @Roh_Echt 5 місяців тому

      @@AaronTheBaron Yeah, maybe🤔. I suppose they could be if they were ever removed in the past. Mine won't even stay in place if oriented how yours are. They always pop back off.

      @Roh_Echt interesting! I wonder why it’s different

    This is a great video! I was searching UA-cam for videos but yours was so easy to follow! Question for you though, do I have to turn off the airbags before removing the rear seats? I saw a video that mentioned it but I didnt hear you mention anything about this, so I didnt know if this is something to do before removing the seats! Thank you

    • @AaronTheBaron
      @AaronTheBaron  4 місяці тому +1

      Good question, I didn’t turn anything off the couple of times I’ve removed the seats, BUT it definitely wouldn’t hurt just in case. It’s probably always advised to turn them off if you’re going to be working around them. An easy way would be to just disconnect the battery while you work. Good catch on that, I had no idea!

    For the bench, after you get the plastic clips out, is there anything else you need to do to lift the seat? Mine feels quite stuck and I don't want to break anything-do you just need to pull hard?
    Also, I'll need to reinstall my bench seat afterwards. Does the seat need to clip into anything (other than the plastic clips) to do that?

    • @AaronTheBaron
      @AaronTheBaron  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah it’s probably stiff if it’s never come out before. After the plastic clips in the back, you just need to pull straight up in the front. Don’t start in the middle, cuz it’ll be the most stiff there. Start on one of the corners.
      And then yeah when you reinstall it, just align the seat and then push straight down and it’ll click back into place!
