- Hey you guys! We really enjoyed Slipknot and their use of mysterious masks! Slipknot was definitely a hardcore band and we enjoyed head banging to them! We got so into the music and we could not have said our thoughts better in the video! The vocals, drums and guitars were out of this world and we loved the reacting to them! @@mikev1905 and the house owner wasnt really happy about the damge, because he thought it would be a normal music video. but slipknot thought it was a house which was up to be torn down afterwards anyway. so they let the fans in the video really go wild. people should really talk more... 😅

Slipknot saved my life...
All the anger, sadness, rage, the insecurities, it gave it an outlet.... i could just jump scream and headbang it away,
because of them i met other people who felt this way, i realized that it was ok, that it will get better, that all this anger, all this sadness can be expressed, and can be understood by others..
some of it came from not being understood, some of it from not understanding myself.. but it got better, it led to so many beautiful things in my life, an a happy fulfilling life it is!
i will NEVER stop being grateful to them, and the metal community as a whole..
i would not be alive today if i had never discovered it.
Yooo... that is spot on my experience as well. I remember listening to the self titled album when I was about 13. I borrowed it from a friend, saved money and bought my own copy. Also got Mudvayne L.D.50. To this day, they are both on my top 5 albums of all time! 😎👍
I have a similar story. I was called a freak for screaming, headbanging, etc. Nobody understood all the sadness and anger in my head (not to be edgy) But to me it was an escape from all the bullshit. It was the only true way to express what u felt, and it really helped me. I really owe them for what they've done for me

Honestly the family was a fan so it was worth it.
When I was in high school people were baffled that I liked metal and rock, because they all had this expectation that Latinas "weren't supposed to" like it, implying that I'm only supposed to stick with the music that "fits my ethnicity". Seeing these younger Latinas enjoy metal and rock with such happiness brings me so much joy. Keep it up girls! Making me proud! 😭🖤

Storytime with Strath: I'm from Des Moines, IA and this video was shot in a fan's house in Des Moines. Slipknot is also from Des Moines, and they are SUPER amazing to their home city. Corey Taylor (the lead singer) I've talked with multiple times, and he's a super cool guy. I wasn't in town when it was being recorded otherwise I would've been there!
Another aside, Mick Thompson (guitarist on the screen at 3:14 with the word HATE on the fretboard) taught at a little known guitar shop in West Des Moines called Ye Olde Guitar Shoppe before Slipknot made it big. I took lessons there and he would CONSTANTLY pick on me (not being mean, just little jabs). I saw him bust out a photo album with a fan, and it was the fan's birthday party that Slipknot played at with their original lead singer Anders Colsfeni. That was early 1997. A year later, they had Corey Taylor, and they're playing Ozzfest and hit the big time!

Growing up in NY, many of my Latin friends loved heavy rock or metal. Usually not girls though. So I loved this.
One of my favorite bands ever, I finally was able to see them live in 2015, and was one of the best shows I've been to. I've been to alot of concerts but they were one of the best. You guys would like Nero Forte off their newest album, but definitely check out some live videos of their older shows.

The masks are something that goes way back to the origins of the group. They wanted the people to love them for their music, not for the people who made the music. it became a trademark for slipknot over the years that followed and is now one of the reason people instantly recognise the band.
Corey Taylor ( leadsinger ) has an unhuman range in his voice ( check out the unplugged liveset he did in London a couple of years ago to realy understand the power of this man's voice) and can handle several styles of "singing". he shows his clean singing ability off in his own band " Stone Sour " but it can also been heard in Slipknot's new songs where he tends to go a bit softer than what we are used to. non the less, their new album is, just like all the other albums they created, a collection of masterpieces.
One last thing: Keep an eye out for the band of Corey and Shawn's sons ( Griffin Parker Taylor and Simon Crahan ) named Vended. They are on their way up to take over the torch of being awsome musicians from their dads.
