      Oh, no. If you use a ruler to measure the sides it should work. otherwise you can use a jig template and a diy jig with foam, cork board or wood and nails. Here is a free template to show you. drive.google.com/file/d/16o6e9tH_KMeEBx6BZE_7nRjH_4LUAcxS/view?usp=sharing

      @@HeatherBoydWire Hi, thank you. I used a piece of paper. It looked so simple so I can't understand what I was doing wrong? Mind you, the wire I used was quite tough to bend and I couldn't get sharp angles. I'll take a look at the jig, thanks :-)

    Could you please please tell me the wire dimensions?

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  Рік тому

      Hi Estela: It really depends on how large you make your stars. You can use 20, 18 or 16 gauge wire. Calculate the length of each side and add about 2 inches to allow for bending and the loop on top. Good luck.

  • @LizChannelPinayHawaii
    @LizChannelPinayHawaii 4 роки тому

    For the second star, how long is the wire? And how big is the finish product star.

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  4 роки тому

      Do you mean the one that starts like a zig zag? You can make it any size. If each bend is 1/2 inch the star would be about 1 1/2 inches wide. and you would need about 8 inches of wire. I always cut the wire too long to be sure!

    Oh well. I tried. I've been trying for some time to make this star but unfortunately I cannot get it right. The very last bit of the video is glossed over so quickly that I cannot understand what's going on. What a dissappointment

    Hi Heather
    With the greatest of respect to you, I have to say that this video makes me so angry. You are such a good teacher, but this particular video lacks detail, lacks screenshots of exactly what you are talking about before moving on, and honestly it's really hard to follow. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure it out.
    Maybe when you get time, you can rework this video. I for one would appreciate that!
    Best regards

      Hi Terry: This video is from 3 years ago. Some of my older videos are not as clear as my recent ones. I did rewatch this one and didn't see any specific issues. You can watch the videos at a slower speed if you change the playback settings (click the wheel on the video). Don't hesitate to ask any questions or email me at info@heatherboydwire.com

      @@HeatherBoydWire Wow Heather. So nice to hear from you. Thank you so much. I sent you an email a while back but now I can't remember exactly where I sent it to. I asked the question as to how to deal with the little ends of the wire when wrapping. So the problem I have is with the start and end bits which are sharp and can scratch. I've scoured the internet for info but there is little to no info as to how to deal with it. Some say 'tuck it under'. Under where and how. I have made 60 wirewrapped angels and that particular part wasn't up to standard for me. I really struggled to hide the ends and was not always successful. What advice can you give me please?
      WRT the 5 point star, (the 2nd one in the video) I have finally worked it out. What confused me was that I didn't realize that the piece at the start of the star (you say leave a space before you start bending the wire) actually forms the one side of the 5th point. But.. it's been an experience and I've learnt a lot from the video. I made so many mistakes. One big mistake is that I turned the wire over so that the points didn't match the video. But anyway it's all done now.
      Thank you again for your communication which is very much appreciated. And perhaps you have some advice for me
      Best regards and take care
      Terry

      @@terryvanderpeet8524 maybe you can email me a photo of the project with the sharp ends. There are a few solutions. You can use good quality flush cutters to clip the ends flush. You can use a burr cup or reamer to file the wire end. To hide the ends I hold the wire end with my flat pliers and "rotate" the end the tuck it in. If you are making earrings/pendants you need to make sure the wire ends are wound around from opposite directions so they meet flush as in these earrings: ua-cam.com/video/0b7p-E8lIfE/v-deo.html Hope this helps. Heather
