      @@HeatherBoydWire I was so pleased too. I ordered a batch of earring hooks from Amazon and they snapped in my fingers whilst assembling the and connecting the beads. I went to my local craft store and the findings were so expensive. So finding this video has given me the ability to make my own and also guarantee they will not snap off. Thank you again.

    Nicely done Heather! Close up and simple directions!
    I thought, however, that metal wire needs to be hardened. Am I wrong?
    Each time I try to make jewelry I get set back with all the steps (& equipment) I think I don't know. Some jewelers show having to use a hammer and block. I'm just afraid to put my "shingle" out and find out I'm making shoddy/unprofessional pieces. Oh, and I went with brass wire, findings, etc. (I think the brass wire is actually copper with a plating.)

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  11 місяців тому

      Thank you. You can work harden the wire with a mallet if your wire is soft. I generally use half hard Argentium wire to make my own earring hooks and they are fine. Good luck Heather.

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  4 роки тому

      Yes, if you use hypo-allergenic wire if you are sensitive. You can use sterling or Argentium silver, surgical steel or even brass/copper if your ears are not sensitive. Do not use aluminum for these!

      Nice! I'm not sure what you mean by french wire. I use aluminum or copper for earrings and silver or surgical steel for the hooks.

      Hi Janet: My pliers are very old, so the brands are no longer available. I use flat nose and two sizes of round nose pliers. Zebra is supposed to be a god brand.
