I have been out of the hobby for a little while. Where I live I can’t have any tanks. But I may be finally buying a house soon. I used to watch you all the time, and tonight I started watching reef videos again. I searched you up right away. Leon is so big! Last I remember he was a tiny baby in a Luffy onesie . Obviously the one piece video was the first video I clicked because I’m a huge fan of One Piece . Haha
Awesome looking reef, absolute blown away by the variety you have in your corals! Any tips on beginner corals to get? I've also read allowing your corals to establish before stocking the tank is a good start. My anticipation for my own reef is unbelievable 😂
Love the clouds and ship. I would love to do that but the tank is in the living room/dinning room and my wife would hate that. She doesn't like whimsical things, but I love it!!!
Congrats on the little one! And keep me updated on the file fish…. Battling reaaaaaaly bad aptasia outbreak. Did the nudibranchs. I bought 6 but my population in aptasia ended up growing. I bought peppermint shrimp that started to nip at polyps and they now live in my sump. I was looking at copper bands and filefish. It’s basically a toss up.
Same challenge over here! My previous attempt with the file fish worked -- although it did start picking at corals. My attempt is to add this one for Aiptasia control, and move it to the refugium once the job is mostly completed; and transporting it back and forth afterwards. *fingers crossed*
It's not the most economical method or easiest but I've been testing out a standalone tank with peppermint shrimp and rock from my reef. I let the shrimp eat the aiptasia on the rock, then add the rock back to my tank. I'm doing this on a 40 gal cube with minimal rockscape so it's easier than a large tank with a lot of rock.
@@BriansAquariums haha most people with established reefs can't undo their tank. Also won't the altasia still grow while you're quarantining the rocks?
@@NinjaSushi2 Yes will definitely still grow. My thinking is to let the shrimp eat the aiptasia faster thst the aiptasia can reproduce. Im just experimenting with my tank that only has a few rocks in it so it's easy for me. I never said it was a smart experiment lol. 🤣
I feed that same mysis. Also for aptasia I just mix some kalkwasser to pain consistency and syringe it into the aptasia mouth. They really don’t like that
Congrats on your new baby, what is her name? How does Leon like his baby sister? I would paint the light strip black. I love the pirate shop and clouds. Always love seeing new vids from you.
This tank is looking incredible. I cant keep any Duncan coral alive as my clown fish has learnt that the Duncan will feed her. i have tried and lost quite a few heads now so i gave up with keeping them. What fish was on the back wall at 18.24?? was it the upside down goby?
Congratulations to you and your family on the birth of your little girl. Have you looked at adding an Australian Stipey? They will get rid of your aiptasia problem 😃
Congrats on the healthy babygirl man! I hope you name her acropora or chalice! Haha kidding but congrats at this rate you’ll have to choose between baby making hobby or fish hobby both very expensive hahaha!
@@InappropriateReefer u welcome frend! If u can get it cut out by melevs reef (or another acrylic cutting place) on his router machine u can do 2 colours white and blue and then glue the blue to the white so it look like white caps on the waves also 😉
Have you had issues with the application eating filefish eating your green star polyps when you've had them because I'm having issues with my green star polyps thriving and then just disappearing and not opening anymore and the only variable I've had is adding a file fish
Do you still have the elegance you were growing ? I have had a black one for a year now that I love I have a short of it on my channel but I love seeing people’s elegance’s very fun coral in my Opinion and very underrated
Congrats Dad x 2!! Have you tried a copperband? I've read that copperbands and filefish both eat aptasia. Will the file fish mess with your rainbow nem??
Thank you! I have not tried a Copperband, a bit scared since I have a clam in this tank and plan to add more in the future. I think Nem should be safe w/ the Filefish, I am a bit worried about my prized Zoas though.............
@@InappropriateReefer I've also read that both can nip at soft and LPS corals. Fix one problem but may cause a different/new problem. Currently, I feed once a day. If/when I get a Copperband, I'll most likely feed 2, maybe three times a day. If its fat and happy, why would it pick at zoas or acans, right?
I have a 1 ft sohal tang, i try to use the two little fish netting and she rips the entire sheet out of the netting. I have to roll the algae sheet into a tight roll and that seems to help.
What a beautiful tank! How old is your reef aquarium. I just started a new salt water tank about 6 months ago. I really want to start with reef. I have live rock, sand, and teal crabs, camel shrimp, and one clown fish. Levels are all amazing. I’ve never done a tank change. So you think I should do one?
Congratulations to you and your wife and growing family!
Congrats Mok-Yi!
Congratulations on the baby girl! Tank is looking great.

It’s like you are growing up in front of our eyes.

Yeah, Petco always has the captive bred filefish 😂
My local one always seems to have some in stock. 😬
WELCOME TO THE WORLD, NINA!! 🤗🎉
Thank you! =)
Congratulations brother super cute little one
Congratulations to both of you 👏
You’re missing a pair hawk fish!!!!!!
Flame or long nose for the win 🙏
Pair of Long Nose would be awesome!
@@InappropriateReefer woooohoooo make it happen 🙌🏻

Australian Stripey is not reef safe.

What if u get some blue acrylic cut in wave shapes 🌊 🌊 🌊 but a strip that can hang just in front of light bar? 🥰😉🐶🤷♂️
That's a pretty solid idea, let me think think -- thanks!

lol do you notice anything different lol... pans up n im like oh yer a ship... then he says clouds WTF i missed them lol TOTALLY NATURAL
could give Copperband butterflies a shot! you’ll have a new centrepiece fish and an aptasia cleaner
Have you had issues with the application eating filefish eating your green star polyps when you've had them because I'm having issues with my green star polyps thriving and then just disappearing and not opening anymore and the only variable I've had is adding a file fish
Peppermint shrimp did wonders for my tank

Did you have any major aiptasia issues as long as you had the bubbletip anemone in the tank?
What type of bounce mushroom (green/blue) at time 7:38 and do you know where I could get one that is amazing
where can i get the fish food feeder , the handheld glass piece...thx
Brace yourself for the price: Glass Feeder (amzn.to/3BDtr4v), Avast Fish Feeder (www.avastmarine.com/products/autofeeder)
copper banded butterflies are usually good with aiptasia, but it's hard to get them to eat anything else
Congrats Dad x 2!!

I’ve literally just added an Australian stripey fish yesterday. I’ve heard good things with aptasia and hoping he’s kind to my corals.
Can you share the link to those beams that you are using to connect the AliE bar to the rest of the lights?! thx!!
Can you do a sump set up video for the 135g tank?
take the bar off and spray paint it matte black. Just tape off the lense portion with painters tape well first
What worked for me was boiling water in a syringe then shooting the hot water in the mouth. Doesn’t mess with water parameters
Buddy u need to add copperband fish they clean up the aptisia like crazy before things get out of control

you should put a coup de burst effect on it
Isn't that the same type of file fish that was eating your cespitularia?
Sick
What’s the coral in the cage
Berghia nudibranch are the only answer
What a cutie?!
Just spray paint the silver bar to black. Would look better and not stick out?
Do a live stock update please
Get some seagulls or birds to hang up
Solid, I'll do that
my file fish ate everything soft. zoas, and aiptasia.
Filefish ... Eating zoanthid ???
It may pick at 'em, also meaty LPS
🤣
With how overpriced some of these corals are, I expect sellers to have done inspections on there frags 😑
