What's new about the updated Volkswagen Golf R?

- The Volkswagen Golf R is being updated to align it with changes made to other less powerful versions of the C-segment hatchback. Minor exterior tweaks include new light designs, while inside, there is a new infotainment system.
Among the exterior changes to the Golf R are new IQ. Light LED matrix headlights and, for the first time, an illuminated VW logo on the nose. The headlights have a sharpened look with straighter lines for a more focused appearance and they can project 15 per cent further than previously according to Volkswagen. A light bar runs along the front of the bonnet and into the tops of the headlights, too.

The Golf Orr?
😅 True
*sigh*
Have those alloys been tested against our horrendous pot holes? We don't have billiard table smooth roads of Germany.
Think you already know the answer to that one
It’s a German car so I hope so lol
The dynamic R wheel caps can also be purchased from VW, $226 CDN here in Canada. I just purchased a 2024 mk 8 (not 8.5), so they weren't included on my car. 😕
10:22 Front grill looks too exposed or incomplete, metal components can still be spotted. VW should increase the number of louvres to camouflage them.
Oh im seriously thinking about getting one of these everything about this looks awesome!!!👌🏻👍🏻 Can't wait for a proper test drive review if you will be getting one?🤔 Great little video Sir!!👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you. Stay tuned to the channel, we'll be driving properly as soon as we can. In the meantime, check out our review of the pre-production version that's already up
@CompletecarIe No worries fella & can't wait for a proper test drive!!👌🏻👍🏻
When and what price?
Depends on where in the world you are. Best thing to do it contact your local VW dealer.
That screen is criminal
Truth. The interior sucks. I'll still buy one.
The touchscreen in the cabin is hideous, obnoxious and intrusive. At least VW could've given a retractable screen, smfh. R badging on the door looks awkward, opposed to being on the fender. It seems they're just following the trend and cutting costs by slapping a tablet on the dash 🤢 🤮
Can't wait to see the msrp on the Black Edition once it arrives stateside. Another trendy gimmicky upsell. VW can't even give us 4-pot brembos. 🤦🏻 Also, the new Clubsport isn't too far behind in power. Maybe 35bhp difference?. And to think the Golf 9 is going EV, utter dismal. 🤢 🤮
I'm sticking with my 7.5R but by the direction VW is going this may be the last one for me. 😑
The largest screen in the Mk7 Golf was just about the perfect size and fitment.
@@CompletecarIe I'm perfectly fine with it. Doesn't obstruct view and I like the physical buttons or what's left of them at least. 😂
Love the facelifted version
Love it!, have order this new one!. Coming from a mk8R... :)...
Enjoy! We just saw the first models being produced in the factory this week
Has it been recalled for the engine cover to be thrown in the garbage ??
No, they have fixed that. It's now made out of different material.
It's good they improved the front with this facelift.
You think it's better?
@@CompletecarIe I think so. I would need to do a direct comparison though.
👌nice I want one
Do it!
It’s nice. Should’ve given it 400 hp and a little more aggression but that’s just me.
That would have been far too much of a leap. But do you remember the Golf R400 that almost happened?
@@CompletecarIe yes I remember. And.. you think so ? Idk would be nice to see the rs in a hatch here in the US
400hp is very easy to achieve in these from simple bolt on's and a tune.
@@BryceCzirr-jz7ju I know that. Not everyone wants to give up their warranty on a German car.
@@GLA45Amg716 A tune won't ruin your warranty. Everyone knows this from the MK7.
This is stunning.
Like the new wheels?
There is nothing wrong with the haptic feedback steering wheel
don’t know why everybody keeps talking about this.
I suppose there’s nothing else to give out about.👊
Yeah, it's odd. I've never hit the steering wheel heat button by mistake. I wonder how people are gripping the wheel?
@@Rich944inSK it drives me nuts once in the last year I turned the heated steering wheel on that’s hardly an issue
I suppose when you have Volkswagen there is not many things to find wrong with it that’s what’s wrong with these people reviewing these cars 😂
VW have decided to bin haptic feedback steering wheel based on customer feedback so there must be something to it. I personally disliked it over actual buttons.
It was never as nice to use as the proper physical buttons. Some people like the haptics, we don't.
Stop saying or instead of r
Don't worry, he says it correctly at 3:31
Why?
Is golf Ore what they make nine irons from! 😂
Boom boom
nobody wants to buy a manual Golf R?? Ok
I did. 7.5, 3-door manual. Proper old skool.
Thats why i will not buy a mk8.5... this guy doesnt know what is talking about. A lot of people will not buy it because its only automatic... come on
These are gonna sell for 50-60 grand. Aka, nobody will be able to own.
Finance can be a heck of thing though...
@@CompletecarIe Hell no! These things will be on the used market in 6yrs for half their MSRP.
Volkswagen Aawwww. How cute.
LOL
The rims look terrible cheap aftermarket
They're only an option. It comes as the Jerez wheels as standard, with Estorils on the Performance Pack.
Way way better than the Estorils but I’d still take the Prets any day
True!
The wheels are ugly the 2024 good wheels look the best
Golf ore 😂😂😂
Everyone: "Hey we hate the haptic nonsense in the interior of this R"
VW: "We hear you and are addressing it"
Also VW: "We didn't address it"
I'm happy with my 2019 Mk 7.5
It's got none of this interior nonsense with the idiotic screen, and haptics, and "tongue" shifter.
I love my R, but if VW doesn't address the interior properly then my time with VW will end with the MK 7.5 (maybe move to an Audi RS3)
