- The Hyundai Kona has moved into its second generation, and looks to build on the strengths of the original by still providing eye-catching looks, solid build quality, generous equipment and good value for money, and adding in better practicality, slicker infotainment and more technology on top.
Key to the appeal of this small crossover is that it remains available with a range of powertrains, from a simple three-cylinder petrol, all the way through to hybrid and fully electric options. In this CarGurus UK video, Vicky Parrott tests all of the Kona powertrains back-to-back to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each.
Specifically, the cars tested in this video are:
Kona 1.0T Advance
From: £25,680
0-62mph: 11.8sec
47.9mpg (manual)
Kona 1.6 HEV Advance

I love how at 2:35, the Kona turns into an EV6 and then back into a Kona 😆
lol, i had to rewind back to double-check. 🤭
I didn’t think that you could do a review of 4 cars in 8 minutes but I was wrong. Good, honest reviews👍
Had our N-Line hybrid for a week now and absolutely love it. Full of tech, space and an economic comfortable drive. The electric motor actually can kick in at all speeds with a light throttle. Just drove about 10 mins at 70 Mph on electric only and felt great. An unexpected surprise as all the hybrids I've driven up till now were only good in ev mode under 30mph.
Nice comparison between the options, well presented and easy to follow even for a non- enthusiast like me
Great review❤
Great review
Interesting review, with 4 model's....
Nice car. Is this the shimmering silver color on the electric model?
Did I spot a Kia EV6 😂
Getting really confused with Hyundai’s engine choices here. Looking at the brochure, it appears the 1.0 is a non turbo whereas it is a turbo in the Bayon. The 1.6 petrol is a turbo but the HEV isn’t but the Tucson HEV, which I currently have, is turbo assisted. Maybe I’ve read it wrong. I like the car and am thinking of downsizing, but I’m starting to lean towards a Kia Niro now.
2:35 hahah why was the front a Kia ev6 😭
nearly all reports say they believe the Ev would be better on 17" rims, but cant find anyone who has done a back to back test Ofcourse the problem is one is depentant on what Hyundai supplies from their press fleet. Still waiting for EV release here in Australia....
Take delivery of Kona advance 65 kWh in new year on motability (1st EV)
I'm defnitely going for the 65Kw advance, I've got the 2021 Kona EV right now and I love it, it'll only get better than what I have, and that V2L is a godsend.
Does she know they have artificial engine noise? I did skip so I may have missed it but... yeah it can be turned off
Question: - do most people 30+ really worry about handling and 0 - 60. probably not. Space comfort etc. which surely is the majority the manufacturers are really aiming for. Oh and most importantly price!
Price / performance is not how fast it goes for the money ..LOL
Kona electric is a very nice car. I wish it had a range equal to a Tesla. Range is very important. 300+ miles is a must.
Very helpful and informative. The electric one is just far too expensive for a small SUV. 1 Litre is great value and a great car
1:33 Are we seriously denying how nasty and cheap feeling the plasticy interiors of the VW ID range cars are?
Cheers love
Imagine the high depreciation on a £45000 Kona EV ,no thank you
Exactly, would guess it would be worth around £22,500-50% after 3 years.
@@Silver-st2zqmore like £12-15,000
if you can buy a kona for that I’ll give you the money for it, previous model isn’t even that price, especially the Kona N is holding very strong as a 2021 is still £28,000 at least and was £33,995 new but most got them cheaper around £31,995
imagine, but where are the facts to back that up please
@Silver-st2zq, you're guessing.....
Im so into Hyundai styling and range of late but I find this thing so ugly and majorly overstyled.
When are You gone have a Serious `vid about the infer structure of the Charging network that includes about them working and their locations etc . Remember is in the context of 2030. Also the Most Important Question where is the Extra Electricity capacity coming from as will have cope with X-Millions EV plus Normal daily use of electricity in home etc etc . Also what happens if power cut due to what ever reason then what. Point out Weather has left parts country without power in All Your Recent Life time! All this applies to Any and All EV mad countries UK EU etc coz of Governments thinking . I Await your Honest Un Bias Video Car Guru.
Petrol or electric. Hybrid is a joke twice the amount of parts to maintain and absolutely the worst of both worlds.
Don't agree with that, I had a Kia hybrid Niro and it hardly put a foot wrong. Unless you are replacing expensive parts the servicing of cars is important.
jakie 2x wiecej? Popatrz na hybrydy Renault te słabsze. Benzyna- turbo, sprzeglo, rozrusznik, alternator, aku vs hybryda brak turbo, brak sprzegla, silniko-generator-rozrusznik, silnik elektryczny.
Nie jest duzo wiecej czesci. To juz miękka hybryda nie ma sensu, bo tam ladują turbo, pewnie dodatkowa pompe oleju i faktycznie ilosc czesci rosnie.
Oberflächlich und Hohl dieser Test 👎..
this car is so ugly....I wouldnt like to have it even for free.
The pleasure of expensive boring vehicles...
Downvoted for repeating the "self charging" bs
