Best comment of the night. Nothing is more annoying than when a runner has couch support at all. Sorry being good at the game isn't good enough...you should be able to provide some level of decent commentary.
Derek Cormier the couch is there to do that for the runner, runner's job is running the game

I literally cannot believe he survived the heat from ridley's room with 1 health left as he jumped into a floating health drop. Talk about down-to-the-wire.

I mean, no shit. That's like saying "Oranges are nice, but apple pie is better." Like, yeah, one is a dessert. That's apples and oranges, but not really.
loganonamac7 It's another speedrunning joke, my man. Splits are what speedrunners use to keep track of their pace throughout a run.
I think this is the most entertaining and stressful run i've seen. Great crowd, great runner.
Pay close attention at 23:05: his Energy jumps to 80 because he grabbed health right as the game registered that he died. Ouch. Less bad RNG and more of a mistake there, but oh well. This run was sick to watch live and it's sick to watch now. :>
The sad part about the first death is that Strae actually did pick up the energy drop (you can see it says 80 on the HUD), but he did it on the same frame that he died. I guess you really can’t cheat death >_>
55:44 - Close call
+Coverop Not really seeing as he had a reserve tank.
+Arron Taylor He used the reserve tank right after Ridley died and then was about to die unless he picked up the health drops from Ridley. If you slow it down to 0.25 speed, you'll see he got to 02 health. A split second more and he would have died.
55:54 - He picks up the health with two energy remaining.... You can't cut that any closer.
I wish the youtube title would include the categories (reverse boss order)...
The skill involved in doing this is insane to say the least.
The animals teach you how to wall jump, without them speed runs would never exist.
1. Speedruns would still exist since it dosent entriely focuses on Super Metroid
2. Even if the animals werent there, speedrunners would still discover walljump very easily, its nothing compared to small glitches that runners have to find just so they can get a second or microsecond saved

Why are they re uploading?
There were some audio hiccups in the previous uploads, and they are uploading higher quality videos
After they upload them during or immediately after AGDQ they take all the "episodes" and add a title card, make sure they credit the runners, fix audio issues, remove ads, ect.

Isn't crockamire before Ridley in a normal play through.

Great run, just difficult without the suits to protect you from heat damage, and water mechanics

Cole Everett You will freeze things if ice beam is active no matter what beam. So yes.
you can turn each beam on or off in the menu. 99% of causal play ya just leave them all on
I've never seen a "speedrun" with so much farming.
This much farming is extremly essential to this speedrun. I mean he couldve died easily if he hadnt farmed before the Ridley fight (dude barely survived with 2 health).
Ah so this is where save and kill the animals comes from also Metroid and F zero are the best Nintendo IPs

Normal boss order is Kraid, Phantoon, Drygon, and then Ridley. In this they do the reverse order so Ridley, Drygon, Phantoon, Kraid.
After the bosses are items that make advancing easier after kraid is the varia suit which give low heat immunity, after Phantoon is the gravity suit which allows normal movement in water and with the varia suit allows high heat immunity and low heat lava immunity, after Drygon is the space jump which is the intended method to enter lower Norfair and Ridley is normally the last boss needed to enter the final area of the game.

I just don't quite understand this game.
J GW okay I'm almost a year late but basically the character they're playing is called Samus. She, yes she, is an intergalactic bounty hunter and this is her third mission that you get to play. The first mission she goes to this same planet to foil the plans of some of the same bosses (mother brain/kraits/Ridley). In this game super metroid those enemies are back trying to revive the species of the metroid, a flying jellyfish featured in the game. On her second mission samus killed all the metroid except for the baby stolen in the beginning that later became that thing that attacked the final boss before it killed Samus. Hope this helps a bit lmao...
Rotten luck at the beginning of the run, but impressive nonetheless.
