I actually filmed this. Another gent helped me convert from Hi-8 to DVD. Had a great position from a balcony. Love the part where he asked the crowd for mechanic advice. Glad to see it got uploaded in full~
AssphawN That was me, back in 2003(?) I think... I used to have a tape/video trading page on Geocities under "keysersoyze"... not sure if it's still around anymore or not. :-)
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing. Lineup is Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse) on guitar/vox, John Orth (Holopaw) on vox, Eric Johnson (Fruit Bats) on guitar/banjo/other things, Dann Gallucci (MM, Murder City Devils) on keys/bass/other things and Brian Deck (Red Red Meat and producer of Moon & Antarctica, among other things) on drums/percussion.

This is so great. Always wanted to hear UC live, Sharpen Your Teeth is my favorite album of all time, and it's got so much competition for me to be able to say that so easily.
Sharpen Your Teeth is right at the top of my list with Dark Side of the Moon. It's better than all of the MM albums and that's really saying something. It's so baffling to me why the album never took off. If I'm being honest, the live show could be much better. It feels more like a practice session than a finished product even by MM standards. Maybe that's why? Idk...
They really jam the shit out of Diggin' Holes. Not knowing about UC/MM at this time kills me since I'm old enough to have been seeing them from 1996. Too bad I was clueless and spent all my time seeing Phish shows.
I spent a lot of time seeing phish shows then I spent a lot of time seeing modest mouse shows that I spent a lot of time seeing both. Don't begrudge what you saw for what you wish you saw when you can see them both!
Remember when UC played Graceland (was Off Ramp an now El Corazon) 1st set was 6 songs just Isaac and guitar, months later (mid 01) the early band w/ Jeremiah on drums if recall right&swear played a song called "here comes trouble(on setlist) never heard elsewhere & during last song "Diamond/Faces" he jumped in pit an yelled vox thru bullhorn in everyone's faces an bounced. Than few months later 11/16+17/01 at El Corazon w/Les Savy Fab opening both sets an 2nd night Mars Volta showed up instead if Defacto an played amazing 25m set before anyone really knew about em. Miss UC. I know Isaac was pissed everytime someone yelled a MM song tho. Man those were the days. Actually got this video supposedly from original taper. This was the show right after he played he got caught w/ coke at Canadian border in his shirt pocket. Lucky got outta that 1. MM played some insane BC sets back than too. Those were the days. Shocked he never did another UC tour, know he's not into anniversaries but c'mon mad under appreciated band. Still have OG UC T-Shirt got at Skim's in SF when saw em at Bottom if the Hill too
I was there at all of the El Corazon UC shows. They were epic. I caught Modest Mouse in the summer of 2001 or 2002 billed as UC featuring Brock and Galluci, I forget the venue in Seattle, it was rather small.
Ive listened to these songs so many times and they never get old. Wish I could've seen them live, but I didn't really find out about uc until a while after this. It's always the best to hear them around this time of year for some reason. This shit hit the spot tonight...thanks to whoever uploaded it.
Was scrolling through the comments for the setlist but I'm too lazy to do it myself and it seems like everyone else is too, let's just listen to the whole thing fuck it
I love Modest Mouse, but I really like Ugly Casanovas sound way better. I think they have have a little more freedom that came through in Modest Mouses earlier albums. It just comes through in this show. I have seen Modest Mouse live many times and they always put on a great show, but I have never seen him really love it the way he does in this video.
It would be nice if Ugly Casanova did a tour sometime. I think it could be a interesting show also it may attract more dedicated fans of Isack Brock as opposed to people going to a Modest Mouse show to hear the more popular songs which seems like it could happen to any band that gets a radio hit. I still dig Modest Mouse but some more Ugly Casanova would be nice too.

Isn't Tim Rutili from Califone to Isaac's left?
+Andrew Guerci Nah, it's definitely Eric Johnson. Tim Rutili played on the record but didn't tour with them.

Love this
Early 2000s indie rock at it’s most interesting and sexy……

It feels like such a time capsule of 2002-2005…sadness perfected
Yeah there is a clarity to Ugly Casanova’s songwriting and sound. Really special.
freakin sick
Could someone do a tracklist?
Look at Issac looking all baby faced and buff lol

A study in harmony x dissonance
Good record!
I wonder why John orth (the vocalist) uses a micstand too short for him
Probably doesn’t want to look at the crowd while he is singing.
"96, its new-ish"
god time fucking sucks
