Saw Coldplay at the Hollywood Bowl in the Summer of 2002. A Rush Of Blood To The Head Tour. IT WAS AWESOME!
My dream job!
+Katie Rowbotham lol....keep dreaming
Auriga M too*
It's funny how UA-cam reminds you of things you dreamed of doing 2 years ago. Since then I have worked a total of 3 arenas/stadiums in various roles... but I think I like the smaller venues better so...
ive started young I'm 14 and I run a digital board a little smaller then this
Tennessee Bow-hunter kool. What's your favorite mixer board?
maybe shows us the actual sound of the conerts as well please !!!!! just a snippet ! dayyaamnn !!! : P
well thaz a nize one bro, waves is the future of sound
awesome!
I always wondered how they microphone the drums.
@william holliday Hi Will. Can you please explain how does the drum sample is played live along the real drums? I mean, some sounds are not organic, how’s it done live ?

The real hero!
Waves plugins are the most important part
I’m gonna get at this level🙏🏿 Trust
Very interesting, thank you!
Awesome stage btw
I always wondering if there exist a delay between the band's play and the sound coming out from the speaker. Hereby I refer to delays caused by propagations, conversions, processings etc. So ?
No. Waves plugins can be used with Waves Soundgrid servers which are a DSP processing computers for the plugins. They are ensured to work at a super low latency. A few hundred samples. 2-10 milliseconds. That is super super low latency.
szahuba yes there is a seconds delay but its mostly effects
The speed of sound is a problem in a big venue. If you are micing drums (which you are for this venue for sure) then you have the problem of the sound the drums produce arriving after their electronically reproduced sound out of the speaker, not even including latency from the processing.
Typically these places might even have a second set of speakers further back to compensate for the loss in volume from the front to the back. Also they don't have to deafen the front row in order to make the sound project the entire distance to the back.
Anyway, that second row of speakers is maybe half way back from the front. The sound has to be delayed for that set of speakers in order for the natural sound from the drums, and the front row of speakers to catch up . If the drums are way back, then you might have to slightly delay the front row as well. Otherwise you have a smearing of the audio image by the arrival of sounds that appear to be generated at different times.
The plugins used (waves, UA etc.) are processed by a dedicated computer and the connections are through fiber or some really fast method, to keep the latency to a minimum. Often the performers will want to hear some of the processed signal, and they cannot have latency to any noticible degree or it will through their performance off. So latency is a big problem that they fight all the time.

Good points John. You're right The System Tech and FOH needs to be vigilant with the latency throughout.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the Hollywood Bowl utilizes delay towers. I think they employ surrounds firing back into the good seats, but the line array mains cover adequately to the back row.
That said, it may be act dependent. If they want to pay for delay towers (often logistical pain in the ass*, and expensive), then whatever.
In my experience, it's typically mammoth outdoor shows (for sheer distance), or stadium shows (for distant coverage with significant vertical component).
*in my experience, delay towers typically add the requirements of small crane for steel erection, power distro feeders, signal via fiber, copper or both, water supply (and subsequent draining) for tower counter-weighting, plus all the labor for load in and strike.
Add in time/phase alignment and EQ'ing, yep, adds up to some significant logistical resources required.
Oooooooh.... someone finally gets to use his Full Sail diploma.
thx ;)
you are a cool guy, dan!
I love stage < backstage ! 😉😉
So cool!!!🙌🫶🙏😎❤️
I think they achieved that "good live record!" ;)
The irony in the distortion of the microphone recording this interview.
inspired !!!
Thank you! 😊
i thought about this idea years ago and now its a reality,,, i feel all humans mind or ideas are linked universally
One thing I have learnt is that if you procrastinate on a great idea, God gives it to the next person capable of doing it.
We make download from the Cosmos... As Michael Jackson said: it is all created, already.
i would love to do this omg
BIG fan ...
Great video
what if it rains? lol
Luigi Otero theres a thing called a canopy fyi
Ibarra Beatz which FOH doesn't have in this video.
they actually do this inside a tank of water sooo the question should be "what if its dry?
but it does. Ive been to the hollywood bowl and they can cover up the FOH booth when they please
Silly its obvious he puts his umbrella up Durrrr
hey wave audio. Are you using rcf HDL 20?
Beautiful!
please, can u send me the connections of this setup. Just learning
what do you need to study to do this?? 😩
And of course i'm using waves..
❤️
Where is he from?
My dreams
What happens if it rains
how to eq live program in jbl 4889 live
RIP Daniel Green
He is still alive I know his son.
The sad thing is I actually understand and know what he's saying...
How is that sad
@@charliestubbs6151 Same what? Live sound is a killer skill to know/have. Plus it's interesting. I can watch these videos all day and never get bored.
vocal eq male and female mic's eq we need help
What company does he work for
coldplay
Tom Tyr WigWam
Surprised at how minimal it is
Then it means Daniel Green should be the one to ask for unreleased songs :)))))
Like Bucket for a crown or A view from the top
rip waves and digico integration, having to have a separate pc for waves control sucks
what Model?
It's the DiGiCo SD7
Yeah thanks brother God bless you
Nick facebook admin ?
Mmmmm....thought the H19 woofer dooper passed via the J55 anologue control status before hitting the F33 signal Digitally, Making the Stereo into Mono clearer ?
Wich mixed is that
They are just pushing buttons and keeping the bass at 8 (none clock) delay 8 phaser and chorus cranked to full and tremolo at 2 lol
The future of the music emulating the past
easiest way to cheat your ears, look on the screen
nice nice i love that set up what is this guy phone number
Get the main element. Vocals and drums???
That’s all you hear these days at alive show. Unless your are in smaller venue and then you might hear the rest of the band.
Usually you mix the whole band into the PA system funny how shows used to sound better when it was just analogue when we didn’t have all this digital bullshit
Find the Mute button
So, Coldplay ... plays live... right, computer based music..
Jeez how dumb are you? Do you even know rock/pop concerts work
What are you talking about. You obviously don't know how live sound works
There's some fishy stuff happening considering he added plug-in in the middle of explaining his 3 part vocal chain lol 1:20
first

Coldplay is sssoooooo booooring
This was really boring
This is some peoples way of life, if you dont like it then dont watch
MR. Mitch65 I won’t
It's probably not your cup of tea, but I found this interesting, especially when this is a morph of studio and live sound.
yeah cuz you dont know nothing about music
