You can see this benefits when you recover from ed, but only gaining weight won’t make you happy. So I would say this are benefits of recovering and as a result gaining weight
Yes yes spot on. So many people in recovery will just gain weight but not truly recover so their minds are in the same place as it was before. Gaining the weight does not bring much benefit and you can't enjoy it as much if your not fully recivered. But when we truly recover mind + body that is true bliss.
thank you for this, I think the things you said are all sort of things that we know but with this disorder it's so important to hear other people reiterating these things. makes me feel less alone. I'm so scared of gaining weight, it feels like a loss of control. I'm trying to remind myself that the real loss of control was when my ED was forcing me to restrict and lose everything; not just weight, but my friends, family, happiness, etc.
So glad i found this video , i have suffered anorexia 22 yrs. I'm a mom of 4 and weigh 113 . I want to feel like a women and have to curves to match. Definitely going to try harder this gives me hope. Thanks
I'm only just starting to go all in and accept my disordered eating (because I have always had an overweight BMI and thought it was impossible that I had an ED) but I've never been able to concentrate anything! My poor body is screaming out 'give me some fat!' clearly!! :D Binging all your videos - thank you!
Energy debt is for ANYONE (regardless of size) who is under-fueling for their body. I am so glad you are taking the steps to get your body back to a place of balance!!
You're starting to glow!! There is absolutely noooothing wrong with gaining weight. And in ED recovery it is totally necessary even! The book I loooove most at the moment is The Fuck It Diet by Caroline Dooner (she has a podcast too) and Health At Every Size by Linda Bacon, great book. OH, and also ANTI-DIET by Christy Harrison RD (whom you hopefully know from the Food Psych podcast.) Weight gain is good. Curves are YAY! My favorite recovery channels are Tabitha Farrar, Follow The Intuition, Kayla Rose Kotecky & Becky Freestone.
5:30 feeling this especially as I’m watching this doing light floor exercise lol. My tailbone sticks out and I constantly sit on it or bump it and it’s awful
It is so difficult to gain weight and feel good about it. My ED is actually telling me I am so fat even though I'm underweight. I know I need to gain weight but it's so hard
My family is my support in recovery, but I don't feel like I can share my true feelings with them. They get angry and scared if I express any fears and/or resistance to gaining weight. It's difficult feeling isolated from them, but I don't have many other people in my life as a result of the chronic, years-old disorder. Any thoughts on what to do when your supoort system is too afraid to listen. Thank you for your positivity, btw.@flowwithchlo
Yes yes this is an important topic. I am actually interviewing someone for my podcast I am coming out with and I believe this would be a great question to ask her!
Flow With Chlo amazing! so excited to listen to it! thank you for all of the amazing information on your channel you have been so helpful throughout the beginning of my recovery!x
It's hard for so many of us. First off its important to know that in the beginning stages of exiting energy debt the body starts to hold onto weight in the midsection to really focus on healing. It the begins to even out once you get further along in your journey. Now we are all radically different and depending on our genes we will all hold our body weight in different places but I just wanted to mention that if you feel like your stomach is a balloon that a lot of that will even out eventually. Also remind your self of all the things that you are recovering for that are so much better than that flat stomach.
Can someone help me out there? I've lost a lot of weight last year since struggle with an ed and I restricted calories. However, I've never been underweight but I still lost my period. Now, I want to get it back. I eat a lot more calories these days and I've gained weight, about 13 pounds. I used to feel really bad about it but it's getting better. Often times I ask myself if it's normal to eat about 5000 calories each day because sometimes I feel like I'm binging but maybe this is normal in recovery. Has someone experienced something similar? I am not even hungry but I often eat like a whole bag of candy or a couple of chocolate bars in a short amount of time. Please help me. Is this normal in recovery or am I now suffering from a binge eating disorder?
You can be in energy debt and be a healthy weight, low weight is just one of the qualifications. I like to call if feasting because that's what it is. You are feasting because you went through a famine. This is your body trying to make up for all the things that it missed out on while you restricted. I know it seems scary to eat that much but I fully believe in listening to that hunger so that your body can fully restore and your period will come back. In regards to the chocolate bars its important that you don't try and restrict yourself of anyone food as that will end up in you being obsessed with that food and not getting out of that restrictive mindset. I do though advocate for incorporating a lot of very nutrient dense foods into your diet-- whole fat dairy products, eggs, meat (red meat too!), + fish-- to help your body become nutritionally rehabilitated. It's a balance. Focusing on good nutrition and all at the sometime understanding that no food is off limits and neurally re-wiring that fear of certain foods. This is a hard thing to give a generic answer too and if you are really wanting to get some answers for what would be best for you and how you can move forward to find optimal balance and health then I recommend setting up a session with me where we can go over this in more detail and help you find a good game plan. Oh and answering that last question-- many people have the fear that they are now becoming a binge eater but in reality their body is just trying to heal :)
u keep saying u are not underweight and aren’t hungry but YOU ARE! mental hunger is hunger and it’s your body telling you to go eat because it needs more fuel. also u might not be underweight on the bmi scale but your body has a set point, which is a certain weight where it function it’s best at, you are probably under that making you underweight
Hey! I'm not the author of the video but yes, actually it will! When you recover, your body puts the weight in places where it is most needed (for example your belly, because it holds your vital organs!!). As time goes on, the weight will distribute more evenly! So don't get discouraged and keep up, I swear it is so worth it!
Heres the thing, every human being has different genes and thus a different body type. I have friends that hold little weight in their upper body but are curvy on their lower half and conversely I have some friends that have no hips nor booty and yet have big boobs and soft shoulders. You can not change the natural way weight wants to fall on your body and what type of body type you are. During recovery weight naturally goes to one's midsection to help heal and protect the vital organs. The body does this FOR one's health and safety. It can be uncomfortable and scary but overtime as the body starts getting all the energy and nutrition it needs, it will redistribute that weight out to a healthy place for you. Will you have curvy hips? I have no clue as I do not know if you are someone who is naturally holds their weight there but what I can say is that being healthy far outweighs any aesthetic goals and that you won't feel super bloated all the time after recovery. There are a lot of fears associated with the recovery body but the funny thing is that once you are recovered you really come to this place of not really caring what your body looks like and the focus goes from a desiring of a specific body type to desiring true health-- one that embraces food freedom, joyful movement, happiness, joy, humor, and body appreciation.

You got this! With all those kiddos around you need your energy and being in energy balance will help make everything so much better!
Same here! I relate to all of it! Also gained 50 pounds and love it, never going back!
Yes once you've lived in the light, you don't want to go back!
This video needs more views, amazing! Xx
Oh thank you!

Thank you. I needed this. Thank you.
It is so difficult to gain weight and feel good about it. My ED is actually telling me I am so fat even though I'm underweight. I know I need to gain weight but it's so hard
That's why its super helpful to get some support on this journey so that you can move forward with recovery despite the fear!

Advice on fear of gaining weight in recovery when you are already at a healthy weight??xx

I mean, boobs and booty are fine but I dont like my belly :c. I think that is the part that is more difficult to accept during this process

I went in because I thought ED meant that other thing
I’m a boy will this also help or are ed help vids for girls?
Hi! I actually do work with men as well. My content online is geared specifically towards women but many of the principles are the same!
What if none of the weight goes to my curves? Or is it just going to happen as long as u gain weight?
