    I Bought 25 BROKEN Xbox Elite Controllers - Let's Fix Them! I paid $1,750 for 25 broken Xbox Elite Controllers. These controllers had quite a few different issues including broken shoulder buttons, faulty analog sticks, vibrator-motor issues, a squishy X-button, and one controller with connection issues because of liquid damage. Luckily I was able to fix quite a few of these controllers and keep them from going into the trash.

    About This Video: I bought 25 broken Xbox Elite Controllers to see if I could fix them. Controllers like this are hard to find replacement parts for and unfortunately, fixing controllers like this isn't a good way to make a profit but it does help keep them from ending up in a landfill. And it's fun to see how many I can figure out. Two of the more difficult fixes were diagnosing a weak rumble-motor and also fixing a controller that wouldn't stay connected (I got to use my wiring pencil for this fix).

      Actually sadly with the series 1 Elite controllers the shoulder buttons where well known to break because they decided to make it so there was a very thin piece of plastic between the left and right bumper which snaps even with very normal use.

    Stick drift is one of the most common things and it's really easy and cheap to fix if you do it like he does here. Just buy some cheap sticks and swap the potentiometer out. I do it on mine, cost about £1.50 for a stick on ebay. You don't even need to solder a new one on.

    I feel like that should play on loop for anyone who does repairs... Glad I watched this one today. 👍😁 I've done several drift stick fixes by replacing the stick entirely, but using the heat gun method never occurred to me hehe... I may try that next time. Also, I'm going to look for the potentiometers as an individual purchase, the thumb sticks are inexpensive enough but if I can save a dollar or two why not do it hehe...

    • @Tronicsfix
      @Tronicsfix  3 роки тому +3

      Comment back if you can find them. I’ve not looked but would be surprised if they were available. Even still each analog stick has two potentiometers so two repairs per stick. Would be nice just to buy the pots though.

    For the analog stick replacement portion, @t=11m45s, another solution is to use low temperature solder aka ChipQuik or the likes of it. That way you just heat up the joints and not expose the board to a lot of heat.

    Thanks tronix for this video, it showed me how to take apart my controller so that I could transplant a thumbstick from an older controller onto the one I use a lot. The left thumbstick had a huge chunk of the padding falling off and barely hanging on. So I am glad I was able to replace it myself without having to pay 60 for a new controller

  • @lindah6954

    The L1 and R1 triggers were the biggest problem not only on the first Elite controller. The first Xbox One controllers had the same problem. You drop it or throw it and it's done. I threw 2 myself.
