    Some good information, like you're not ashamed to share it where others are... thanks for your honesty. The more I research the 4r70w the more I don't wanna rebuild mine. Lots of updates for this transmission that cures problematic areas i might overlook or can't fix properly. Only problem not rebuilding it vs one already done is did they do it right and ignore those problem areas? It's a catch 22.

      Your Right Gary, It Is a Catch 22. Whether You Decide To Do it Yourself " Which Is Very Rewarding" Or Get a Replacement, Be asking Yourself The Question What Caused The Failure. Check Out These Channels On You tube Brads Transmission In Utah, Precision Trans In Amarillo Texas, Gary Ferraro AAA-l New York Good Info On These Transmissions. Thanks For Watching PS What Are you Working On ?

      @@TomAutoTV I'll check those channels out, one for sure I know is precision transmissions, which he mostly just shows teardowns. It's a 97 f150 4x4, which is another reason why I'm not crazy on pulling it for a rebuild, but the thing is showing some signs I'm not liking and more than not due to these problem areas. Reverse clunks goin in gear, OD slow to kick in, shifting is sluggish and the torque converter is getting noisy. ALL those symptoms go away once the tranny warms up, the warmer the better. I just rebuilt the engine last year which I have experience in, and all is good there, turned out great including the flexplate and bolts. So, it's definitely a tranny problem. Don't know how much longer I can baby it till it finally gives up the ghost?... Lol... but it is a decent truck for a 97, really clean but high mileage.

    Great video I have a 1976 corvette with no reverse gear in my th350 transmission but forward works just fine how do I fix this ?

    • @TomAutoTV
      @TomAutoTV  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the question, the 350 uses the direct drum along with the low/reverse clutch to obtain reverse. If you have all your forward gears you probably have a valve body issue/check ball stuck. Thanks for watching, hope this helps.

      @@TomAutoTV until then I'll sub and like. I'm planing on using the 76655-01K drum after watching silverfox's review. Im unsure of how to press the input shaft into the new forward drum. The directions suggest using a milled stopper round bar at .480" to keep it from pressing in too far. What are your thoughts?
